I Hate You More
I Hate You More by Lucy Gilmore is $1.99! This is an enemies to lovers romance and has some pretty good dogs. I know Gilmore’s books have been recommended in the comments previously and the Bitchery generally has positive thoughts.
An unforgettably funny enemies-to-lovers romcom about a grumpy dog show judge, a determined former beauty queen, and a Golden Retriever more interested in stealing bacon than winning Best in Show.
Ruby Taylor gave up pageant life the day she turned eighteen and figured she’d never look back. But when an old friend begs her to show her beloved Golden Retriever at the upcoming West Coast Canine Classic, Ruby reluctantly straps on her heels and gets to work.
If only she knew exactly what the adorably lazy lump of a dog was getting her into.
If there’s one thing veterinarian Spencer Wilson knows in this world, it’s dogs. Human beings are an entirely different animal—especially stubborn, gorgeous women clearly in way over their heads. As judge for the local dog show, Spencer advises Ruby to quit while she still can, but her old fervor for winning has returned—and she’s determined to show the stern, broody-eyed judge that she’s more than just a pretty face.

The Decoy Girlfriend
The Decoy Girlfriend by Lillie Vale is $1.99! This was mentioned in a previous Hide Your Wallet, as Elyse is a big fan of celebrity romances. Did any of you pick this one up?
A laugh-out-loud funny and whip-smart romantic comedy from the author of The Shaadi Set-Up, about a young woman who takes the place of her celebrity doppelgänger, and must fake-date the actress’s sexy costar boyfriend.
Writer Freya Lal has a huge secret: she’s a dead ringer for It-girl actress Mandi Roy. Her second novel is due in a month, but inspiration is nowhere to be found. Desperate to shake off her writer’s block, Freya leans into her look-alike abilities and indulges in some mistaken identity for simple perks, like scoring a free mimosa or getting into a trendy nightclub.
Actor Taft Bamber appears to have it all: gorgeous, talented, and Mandi’s love interest both on- and off-screen. But what nobody knows is that their relationship is a PR stunt, and after years of playing make-believe, he’s yearning for something real.
When Freya’s latest impersonation of Mandi goes viral thanks to Taft’s accidental interference, rumors of a breakup threaten Hollywood’s golden couple. To make amends, Freya is forced to give Mandi a little time off: she’ll pretend to be the actress for a month, move in with Taft, and squash the rumors by acting completely in love. But as Freya and Taft play house, it becomes impossible to ignore that their instant chemistry isn’t just for the cameras. While faking it, they might have just found the real thing.

Seven Crows
Seven Crows by Kate Kessler is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal. Elyse recommended this on our Sexy Mysteries Rec League, but mentions it’s pretty violent.

Much Ado About You
Much Ado About You by Samantha Young is $1.99! I feel like Young is an author that readers really like or don’t. Catherine read this one and wasn’t impressed. She gave it a C. Have you read this one? I’m tempted by the Great Dane.
The cozy comforts of an English village bookstore open up a world of new possibilities for Evie Starling in this charming new romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Samantha Young.
At thirty-three-years old Evangeline Starling’s life in Chicago is missing that special something. And when she’s passed over for promotion at work, Evie realizes she needs to make a change. Some time away to regain perspective might be just the thing. In a burst of impulsivity, she plans a holiday in a quaint English village. The holiday package comes with a temporary position at Much Ado About Books, the bookstore located beneath her rental apartment. There’s no better dream vacation for the bookish Evie, a life-long Shakespeare lover.
Not only is Evie swept up in running the delightful store as soon as she arrives, she’s drawn into the lives, loves and drama of the friendly villagers. Including Roane Robson, the charismatic and sexy farmer who tempts Evie every day with his friendly flirtations. Evie is determined to keep him at bay because a holiday romance can only end in heartbreak, right? But Evie can’t deny their connection and longs to trust in her handsome farmer that their whirlwind romance could turn in to the forever kind of love.

Always love me some Lucy Gilmore, but this isn’t my fave among her books.
THE DECOY GIRLFRIEND sounds exactly like Lily Chu’s THE STAND-IN, which I loved. Not sure I could read the other without making constant comparisons, but I’ve been wrong before.
Free:
– Broken (Breakers Hockey Book 1) by Elise Faber
– Meant for Them (Pack Wars: The Grangers Book 1) by Vella Day
$.99:
– Totally Folked: A Small Town Romance Folktale retelling (Good Folk: Modern Folktales Book 1) by Penny Reid
$1.99:
– Breaking the Rules: A Novel (Troubleshooters Book 16) by Suzanne Brockmann
– Free Fall & Home Fire Inferno (Burn, Baby, Burn): Two Troubleshooters Short Stories (Troubleshooters Shorts and Novellas Book 8) by Suzanne Brockmann
I was disappointed with this Lucy Gilmore offering. I was not impressed with ethics of him being the judge of dog show and the stupid relationship with his brother. Regarding her getting past beauty queen stuff – it felt like the story tried too hard and the whole story lacked the charm of Lucy’s Forever Home series which I loved.
A Rival Most Vial: Potioneering for Love and Profit by R. K. Ashwick is still $0.99 today. I enjoyed this cozy fantasy romance.
MISS ALDRIDGE REGRETS by Louise Hare is $1.99 – I’ve had this in my wishlist for awhile now…
