Sea of Ruin by Pam Godwin is 99c and a Kindle Daily Deal! This book first came onto my radar because of author Alexis Hall. You need to read his review because 1) it’s very thorough on whether or not it’s for you, and 2) it’s a wild ride.

The Hidden Moon by Jeannie Lin is FREE! This is part of the Lotus Palace Mystery series. I think these can be read on their own rather than in order, but definitely let me know in the comments if that’s not the case.
A well-bred lady and lowly street hustler team up in a historical murder mystery set during China’s glittering Tang Dynasty. Part of the best-selling Lotus Palace series.
Impetuous and well-educated, young Lady Bai has always been the forgotten daughter between two favored sons. However, when Wei-wei’s older brother is tasked with investigating a high-profile assassination, he turns to his clever younger sister for assistance.
Gao is a street-wise scoundrel with a checkered past and a shady reputation. He knows better than to set his sights on the high-born Lady Bai, but when she asks for his help, he can’t refuse.
As the unlikely pair chase down a conspiracy that reaches from the gutters of the capital to the imperial palace, Wei-wei is intent on seeing justice done, while Gao is determined to solve the mystery just for her – even if the attraction between them can never be more than a moment’s longing.

Come As You Are: A Gen X Romance by Jess K. Hardy is $0.99 on Amazon. This came up in a Rec League not long ago about Over 40/50 FMC who is divorced. FMC is 46 and MMC is 53, which I love. Family ski slope on the rocks, former rock star and recovering addict who helps addicts get back on their feet, and a slimy ex-husband. My one gripe is how the FMC’s mother is handled in the book. She’s a bit of a caricature.
The Hidden Moon is fabulous. I think it stands alone just fine. There is a prequel of sorts, if you’re interested–The Liar’s Dice: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWNR3GC?
Hate Me Under the Mistletoe by Kelly Jamieson is $.99
Blame It on the Eggnog by Jami Davenport is $.99
The Forbidden Rose by Joanna Bourne is $1.99 (I love this series!)
Thanks for the recommendation to read Hall’s review of SEA OF RUIN. Of course the review is hilarious, but also an excellent warning about what happens in the book. I’ll leave the book, happily re-read the review.
The Alexis Hall review was so good that if his sense of humor is in the books he writes, I’d best get on with reading them.
That Alexis Hall review made me cackle. Thanks for that, I needed it today!
I liked The Hidden Moon. A Remarkable Rogue is pretty good and one of the better ones in the series.
I loved Sea of Ruin until I DIDN’T. There is No consensual S/M. And it some how becomes a Poly romance. No problem with the Poly romance. Big issue with Sexual torture.
