  • Wolf Gone Wild

Wolf Gone Wild by Juliette Cross

Wolf Gone Wild by Juliette Cross is $1.49! This was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet and I’ve personally enjoyed Cross’ fantasy and paranormal romances previously. This has a witch and a werewolf pairing and sounds a lot like me catnip.

What’s the worst thing that can happen to a werewolf? Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he’s cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane.

Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven–no werewolves. They’re known for being moody and volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she’s ready to bounce him through the door. But the desperation in his eyes when he begs her to help him softens her heart and convinces her to bend the rules.

What Evie doesn’t know is that Mateo’s wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she’s in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

  • Part of Your World

Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

RECOMMENDED: Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez is $2.99! This one came out in April and I really loved it. It was tender and sweet and funny. I also ranted about the “villain” on an episode of the podcast. I would have loved to have seen him get tossed into a wood chipper at the end.

The New York Times bestselling author of Life’s Too Short delivers a refreshingly modern fairy tale perfect for fans of Casey McQuiston and Emily Henry.

After a wild bet, gourmet grilled-cheese sandwich, and cuddle with a baby goat, Alexis Montgomery has had her world turned upside down. The cause: Daniel Grant, a ridiculously hot carpenter who’s ten years younger than her and as casual as they come—the complete opposite of sophisticated city-girl Alexis. And yet their chemistry is undeniable.

While her ultra-wealthy parents want her to carry on the family legacy of world-renowned surgeons, Alexis doesn’t need glory or fame. She’s fine with being a “mere” ER doctor. And every minute she spends with Daniel and the tight-knit town where he lives, she’s discovering just what’s really important. Yet letting their relationship become anything more than a short-term fling would mean turning her back on her family and giving up the opportunity to help thousands of people.

Bringing Daniel into her world is impossible, and yet she can’t just give up the joy she’s found with him either. With so many differences between them, how can Alexis possibly choose between her world and his?

  • Under the Whispering Door

Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune

Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune is $3.99! At the store, this was my friend Tildy’s best of 2021 book. What’d you think of this one, especially compared to Cerulean Sea?

When a reaper comes to collect Wallace Price from his own funeral, Wallace suspects he really might be dead.

Instead of leading him directly to the afterlife, the reaper takes him to a small village. On the outskirts, off the path through the woods, tucked between mountains, is a particular tea shop, run by a man named Hugo. Hugo is the tea shop’s owner to locals and the ferryman to souls who need to cross over.

But Wallace isn’t ready to abandon the life he barely lived. With Hugo’s help he finally starts to learn about all the things he missed in life.

When the Manager, a curious and powerful being, arrives at the tea shop and gives Wallace one week to cross over, Wallace sets about living a lifetime in seven days.

Under the Whispering Door is a contemporary fantasy about a ghost who refuses to cross over and the ferryman he falls in love with.

  • The Marriage Game

The Marriage Game by Sara Desai

The Marriage Game by Sara Desai is $1.99! This is book one in The Marriage Game series and I’m loving all of the cover designs. Catherine and Sneezy did a join review of this one and landed on a C grade.

A high stakes wager pits an aspiring entrepreneur against a ruthless CEO in this sexy romantic comedy.

After her life falls apart, recruitment consultant Layla Patel returns home to her family in San Francisco. But in the eyes of her father, who runs a Michelin starred restaurant, she can do no wrong. He would do anything to see her smile again. With the best intentions in mind, he offers her the office upstairs to start her new business and creates a profile on an online dating site to find her a man. She doesn’t know he’s arranged a series of blind dates until the first one comes knocking on her door…

As CEO of a corporate downsizing company Sam Mehta is more used to conflict than calm. In search of a quiet new office, he finds the perfect space above a cozy Indian restaurant that smells like home. But when communication goes awry, he’s forced to share his space with the owner’s beautiful yet infuriating daughter Layla, her crazy family, and a parade of hopeful suitors, all of whom threaten to disrupt his carefully ordered life.

As they face off in close quarters, the sarcasm and sparks fly. But when the battle for the office becomes a battle of the heart, Sam and Layla have to decide if this is love or just a game.

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher (Tor) is $2.99. I think this was on sale recently but didn’t make it to Kobo; it’s dropped there now, too.

Fated by Benedict Jacka (Ace) is $1.99. Pretty sure this is a Because Darlynne Said So addition to my wish list. 😀

The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill (Poisoned Pen Press) is $2.99 at Amazon and Google but $3.99 at Kobo and B&N because of course it is.

  2. Laura George says:

I learned some interesting things from Jimenez’s PART OF YOUR WORLD — particularly that if you want to send someone a pic of your erect dick, there’s a lot to think about in terms of lighting and angle. The hero is thinking of going it alone (as it were) but fortunately his small-town pals know a lot about what kind of ring light to buy and so forth. As someone whose dating years took place before people were sending genital pics back and forth, I was interested in how technical the proper dick pick was. I learned some things that will likely never come in handy (as it were) for me, but were interesting nonetheless.

Much of Sawyer Bennett’s backlist is on sale for $.99; I think audio is also on sale for $1.99 each on their site.

And 75 book boyfriends on sale for $.99 each: https://happilyeveralpha.com/thankful/

  4. Lace says:

My team-vampires friend recommended the Cross book to me, werewolves and all.

  5. Laurel says:

@Laura, there was a site called critiquemydickpic.tumblr.com, where men can send their dick pics, and get advice on how to make them better. I don’t have a Tumblr account, so I can’t check if it still exists, but here is an article from Jezebel discussing it: https://jezebel.com/concerned-about-your-dick-pic-skills-heres-a-website-1391168989

  6. Erin says:

@Lena If you find that the sale price isn’t in effect on Kobo, they have an easy to use price-match policy so you can get the same price on your Kobo + an extra 10%!

  7. footiepjs says:

@Laurel I also thought of that tumblr blog. I haven’t tried to look at it since soon after the adult content ban came down, but there were still some posts up. I can’t imagine many posts are still viewable four years later.

  8. Cleo says:

I remember that I was pretty disappointed by Under the Whispering Door, especially given how much I loved The House by the Cerulean Sea, but I don’t remember a lot of details about why I didn’t love it. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

  9. DonnaMarie says:

I, on the other hand, enjoyed Under the Whispering Door immensely. Maybe because I didn’t have ant previous experience of Kline’s writing. Maybe because I was in the midst of my own grief process. I found it both cathartic and beautiful.

  10. DonnaMarie says:

    Klune droid autocorrect. KLUNE.

  11. SaraGale says:

I loved both of Klune’s books, but as a hospice nurse, Under the Whispering Door hit a special place in my soul. I loved the growth in all the characters and the tension that is allowed space. There were definitely tears.

I’ve enjoyed Cross’ series, and I’ve been waiting for them to do on sale since they aren’t my library’s catalogue. So nabbing that one for sure!!!

  12. Qualisign says:

I read UNDER THE WHISPERING DOOR shortly after my husband died in January and, like @SaraGale, I found it touched my soul. The first six months after his death, at the tail end of quarantimes, I was pretty much [actually, utterly] alone, so reading was truly cathartic, and this book was one of my top three in that period of grief. Klune is a wonderful writer whose books and series are wondrously different from each other. Some resonate more strongly than others, so it’s very difficult to compare it with CERULEAN SEA. UNDER… was a perfect book for me when I read it, CERULEAN SEA was fine but not in my top five Klune books.

  13. Stefanie Magura says:

It’s interesting that Wolf Gone Wild is on sale today because I am going through the backlist of Not Your Mom’s Romance Book Club episodes, and I just listened to the episode in which the hosts reviewed it. If you haven’t yet listened to that podcast, I recommend it highly. Anyway, they really seemed to like this book, and because of their review, I think this is one I will add to my ever growing list.

  14. Darlynne says:

@Lena Brassard: No pressure, right? I did recommend the Jacka book, just picked up 2&3, hope they live up to the first.
