  • To Love a Scandalous Duke

To Love a Scandalous Duke by Liana de la Rosa

To Love a Scandalous Duke by Liana de la Rosa is 99c at Amazon! It’s available elsewhere, but not at the sale price. This one has a hero out for revenge, which can be a pretty divisive trope on whether readers love it or hate it. It’s also the first in a series.

Driven into exile years earlier, due to family scandal, Declan Sinclair is called home, devastated to discover his brother has been murdered and he’s the new Duke of Darington. When clues point to the man he blames for both his exile and his brother’s death, Declan resolves to ruin the culprit. If only the daughter of the man’s business partner, lovely Lady Alethea Swinton, didn’t tempt his resolve.

Lady Alethea Swinton has cultivated her pristine reputation in the hopes of winning her father’s praise. When her childhood friend returns, Alethea finds she’s willing to court scandal and defy her father to help the handsome Declan uncover the truth behind his brother’s death. Until she realizes Declan’s redemption will mean her family’s ruin.

  • The Life Revamp

The Life Revamp by Kris Ripper

The Life Revamp by Kris Ripper is $2.99! This is book three in The Love Study series. This one features a hero who is in an open marriage. You don’t see a lot of poly romances in more traditional publishing spaces. Have you read this one?

All Mason wants to do is fall in love, get married and live happily ever after.

The hunt is beginning to wear him down…until he meets (slightly) famous fashion designer Diego. Everything sparks between them—the banter, the sex, the fiery eye contact across a crowded room.

There’s just one thing: Diego is already married and living his happily-ever-after, which luckily (or not) for Mason includes outside courtships. But not quite in the way he’d always imagined.

Mason thought he knew what would make him happy, but it turns out the traditional life he’d expected has some surprises in store.

  • The Locker Room

The Locker Room by Meghan Quinn

The Locker Room by Meghan Quinn is 99c at Amazon! This is a new adult sports romance and I have a few of Quinn’s sports titles on my TBR, though haven’t read them. If you have, what did you think? Is this a good place to start?

Have you heard the rumor around campus about the locker room?

If you haven’t, let me enlighten you: Legend has it if you bring a girl into the sacred after-game domain of the baseball locker room, it will end with a walk down the aisle. One rowdy and naked encounter against the lockers with the girl of your dreams will make her your wife.

Translation: baseball players are stupidly superstitious and believe the locker room has magical powers.

But not all baseball players are superstitious, me included.

So when the girl I’ve fallen for brushes me off, I start to question if I need to switch my way of thinking. Maybe it’s time I finally hand out a coveted invitation to the locker room.

The only question is, will she accept?

  • Prince Charming

    Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins

Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins is $2.99! This is the first book in the Royals series and it’s since undergone a cover redesign. Some UK readers felt a few of the details were wrong in terms of setting, while others say this one left them with a huge smile on their face. I thought it was cute.

Meet Daisy Winters. She’s an offbeat sixteen-year-old Floridian with mermaid-red hair; a part time job at a bootleg Walmart, and a perfect older sister who’s nearly engaged to the Crown Prince of Scotland. Daisy has no desire to live in the spotlight, but relentless tabloid attention forces her join Ellie at the relative seclusion of the castle across the pond.

While the dashing young Miles has been appointed to teach Daisy the ropes of being regal, the prince’s roguish younger brother kicks up scandal wherever he goes, and tries his best to take Daisy along for the ride. The crown–and the intriguing Miles–might be trying to make Daisy into a lady . . . but Daisy may just rewrite the royal rulebook to suit herself.

  1. Penny says:

Does anyone know if The Life Revamp can be read as a stand-alone? The love study doesn’t necessarily appeal to me (I’m not feeling New Adult lately). But I’m interested in reading a well done poly romance!

  2. Susan says:

Sorry for the OT question, but is it just me or has the US Amazon KDD site been wonky for the past few days? Lots of books definitely not on sale mixed in with the deals. It’s happening on multiple devices for me, too.

  3. Deborah says:

    @Susan – same here.

  4. DiscoDollyDeb says:

@Susan & @Deborah: I’ve been unable to check the daily deals since the Kindle Store replaced the “Kindle Daily Deals” link (that used to appear on the front page) with a link to Kindle Vella (short stories). When I search for Kindle Daily Deals, regardless of the search criteria or filters I use, I get hits on hundreds of books—many most definitely not at sale prices! I just wish Amazon would bring back the KDD link.

  5. EJ says:

I’m really into heroes into revenge and I don’t know what that says about me. My all-time fictional crush since I was little is Batman, so there you go.

I also love the name Declan.

  6. Deborah says:

@DDD – I navigate to the Kindle deals page by first clicking on any kindle book title in my myriad of saved lists, then clicking the Kindle Book Deals link next to Kindle Vella in the top menu on the book page.

From there, I can scroll through a subset of the day’s Kindle Daily Deals in a carousel at the top of the Deals page, but I need to click on the Kindle Daily Deals link in the side menu (or “See More” on the carousel) to see the complete list.

The trouble is, it appears the Sunday or Monday titles are “sticky.” They’re still in the list of Daily Deals, even though their prices have returned to normal. Scrolling through all that chaff is a little irritating.

(Random: has anyone read any Vella stories?)

  7. Lisa F says:

Life Revamp was a solid A- for me; and yep, it can be read alone!

  8. Lostshadows says:

    @DDD

I bookmarked the page ages ago and it still seems to work, other than the stuck books. Hope it helps.

  9. Maureen says:

Kris Ripper is a fairly new author to me-but I have really enjoyed the books. Like @Lisa F said, it could be a read alone. But to be honest this one wasn’t my favorite in the series, and I wonder how I would have liked it if I hadn’t read the previous books.

  10. Susan says:

Thank you, everyone, for your responses re KDD. I started having problems with the app on my phone, but was ok accessing thru the browser on all my devices. Now this new issue. I also go thru long stretches where I can’t access Audible daily deals/sales then, bam, it’s fine. Amazon’s really slacking off, but the bright side is that I’m saving money. 🙂

  11. Penny says:

    Thanks @Lisa F and @Maureen!

  12. Lynn S says:

@Deborah I have tried a couple Vella stories. One I gave up on — The Marriage Auction. But now I am reading one by Eloisa James. Not sure I am loving it yet I keep reading the new chapters. It has fatshaming bullying in it which I don’t like. Basically Vella stories seem to demand more soap opera plot lines. Like this Eloisa James (The Seduction) has a love triangle. There is also other apps that came before Kindle Vella, like Radish. I have yet to read any story as good as an old fashioned book. But I love the idea of reading something that comes out one chapter at a time. I just think writers need to get paid more in order for better stories to come out.

  13. Vicki says:

I am doing a version of what @Deborah is doing. And, if anyone is interested, there is a collection of three Barbara Vine (Ruth Rendell) books for $3.99 in today’s deals. Not romance. The one I’ve read is Dark-Adapted Eye and I remember enjoying it a great deal.

  14. Deborah says:

@Lynn S – thanks! I honestly hadn’t expected to hear a “known” author like Eloisa James was publishing via Vella. It drove me to browse through the first couple of pages of Vella romances, in case Amazon had persuaded any of my favorites to give the format a try.
