  • Firelight

    Firelight by Kristen Callihan

Firelight by Kristen Callihan is $1.99! This is the first book in the Darkest London series, a series that I mostly enjoy. In the first three books, the heroines are sisters and I’d rank them in their series order. The third is my least favorite, namely because it contains a lot of tropes that aren’t my thing. However, I still have enjoyed what I’ve read thus far.

Once the flames are ignited . . .

Miranda Ellis is a woman tormented. Plagued since birth by a strange and powerful gift, she has spent her entire life struggling to control her exceptional abilities. Yet one innocent but irreversible mistake has left her family’s fortune decimated and forced her to wed London’s most nefarious nobleman.

They will burn for eternity . . .

Lord Benjamin Archer is no ordinary man. Doomed to hide his disfigured face behind masks, Archer knows it’s selfish to take Miranda as his bride. Yet he can’t help being drawn to the flame-haired beauty whose touch sparks a passion he hasn’t felt in a lifetime. When Archer is accused of a series of gruesome murders, he gives in to the beastly nature he has fought so hard to hide from the world. But the curse that haunts him cannot be denied. Now, to save his soul, Miranda will enter a world of dark magic and darker intrigue. For only she can see the man hiding behind the mask.

  • Pipe Dreams

    Pipe Dreams by Sarina Bowen

Pipe Dreams by Sarina Bowen is $1.99! This is book three in the Brooklyn Bruisers hockey romance series. I’m not if we’ve featured this one on sale before. If we have, it’s definitely been a while.

A goalie has to trust his instincts, even when taking a shot to the heart…

Mike Beacon is a champion at defending the net, but off the ice, he’s not so lucky. A widower and a single father, he’s never forgotten Lauren Williams, the ex who gave him the best year of his life. When Lauren reappears in the Bruisers office during the playoffs, Beacon sees his chance to make things right.

Lauren hates that she’s forced to travel with the team she used to work for and the man who broke her heart. There’s still undeniable sexual tension running between her and Mike, but she won’t go down that road again. She’s focused on her plans for the future—she doesn’t need a man to make her dreams of motherhood come true.

Lauren plays her best defensive game, but she’s no match for the dark-eyed goalie. When the field of play moves to Florida, things heat up on the beach.

One of Mike’s biggest fans doesn’t approve—his teenage daughter. But a true competitor knows not to waste the perfect shot at love.

  • What Happens in Summer

What Happens in Summer by Caridad Pineiro

What Happens in Summer by Caridad Pineiro is $3.82 or $3.99, depending non the vendor! This is the second book in the At the Shore series and the first book is on sale for only 99c. While some readers recommend this for a fun, cute read, other readers seemed to want more in the way of the romance.

As the only daughter of a single mom, Connie Reyes swore she would never put herself or her child in a similar position. But when she runs into oh so tempting Jonathan Pierce at a wedding, she knows she must stay away. She’ll fall for him—hard. And he’s not the type to stick around. Ever since he left town after their teenaged fling,

Jonathan hasn’t been able to forget about Connie. He can’t wait for the wedding—to show her the man he’s become. And when the night finally comes, their mutual desire will lead to unexpected consequences neither of them were prepared for…

  • Need You Now

Need You Now by Nicole Helm

Need You Now by Nicole Helm is 99c! This is the first book in the Mile High Romance series. It’s a contemporary romance with opposites attract elements. If you like outdoorsy, Helm writes a lot of great ones. Readers seem divided on the hero. Some loved his grumpy nature, while others thought his grumpiness bordered on sad and rude.

    He’s mountain-tough. She’s city-smart. The sparks are about to fly . . .

Only the most resilient of souls could breathe new life into an all-but-forgotten town nestled in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains—but what they get in return might be worth the heartache it takes to make it happen . . .

Gracely, Colorado, was once a booming mining town. No one knows that better than Brandon Evans. His father’s company kept the town thriving for years—until Brandon threatened to expose his illegal practices and drove him away. Everyone blames Brandon and his brother for turning Gracely into a ghost town—but the tenacious residents cling to a long-held legend about the land’s healing powers. And Brandon has a plan to spin that legend into reality . . .

Lilly Preston took a leap of faith and moved to Gracely a year ago to save her nephew from an abusive situation. She would do anything for him, even sacrifice her glamorous job. Reluctantly, the former PR hot shot takes a job at the ruggedly handsome Evans brothers’ Mile High Adventures, a company offering restorative Rocky Mountain vacations.

Brandon thinks PR is pointless, and Lilly knows less than nothing about the outdoors. Which is exactly why they need each other—in ways neither ever imagined . . .

  1. Kareni says:

Amy Harmon’s Making Faces is a Kindle deal today for $2.38. This is a reread for me. This contemporary romance has a secondary character who all but steals the show. If you can read this without crying, I will be surprised.

  2. Kareni says:

I stayed up late last night to finish Pipe Dreams. While it’s not my favorite Sarina Bowen book, I did enjoy it.

    Spoiler ~

There is one scene that some might find disquieting. The hero is in the heroine’s hotel room when she returns from an event.

  3. DiscoDollyDeb says:

Be warned: PIPES DREAMS has one of the most dislikable heroes I’ve encountered in the Sarina Bowen universe. I felt Bowen (and, by extension, the heroine) was far too kind and forgiving based on his behavior. He should have been honest with the heroine and explained the circumstances/situation behind their abrupt breakup and his reconciliation with his wife, but he didn’t and he left the heroine completely shattered. I’m generally a fan of Bowen, but she made some weird authorial choices in this one. Of course, as always, YMMV.

  4. Lisa F says:

Caridad Pineiro’s work is pretty entertaining; I just read her novel and loved it.

  5. EJ says:

    @Kareni

I just finished Making Faces! Overall, the book was a little too “inspirational romance” for me, but it was interesting to read a book about people who were in high school when 9/11 happened like I was. I was not prepared to revisit those feelings. I cried a lot while reading it.

  6. Carole says:

I remember reading Nicole Helm’s Need You Now as it was a very frustrating read for me. Sorry I did not care for either Hero or Heroine and felt they both needed to be in therapy -(for weeks, more likely months, or even years) with the emotional baggage they carried. Did not enjoy the read and toasted from my Ebook Library as re-reading would be torture.

  7. Laura says:

Maybe it’s the late afternoon cocktail talkin’ (because effin’ Russia dumpster fire, man) but Pipe Dreams deserves a cover snark…is that a face on his right pec?

  8. Kris Bock says:

Laura, once seen, it cannot be unseen… (shudder)

  9. The Other Kate says:

Firelight is one of my favorite Victorian-esque fantasy romances, not steampunk, but very original. I did NOT guess the big reveal. Still my favorite of the Darkest London series.

  10. Todd says:

When I see a cover of a hockey romance with the shirtless man I have to think, he must be COLD. Reminds me of when I saw a clip of “Disney on Ice” and the guy portraying Tarzan was, yes, on the ice wearing a loincloth. (I assume he had on flesh-colored tights, but who knows … with or without COLD.)

  11. Jen says:

Does the Darkest London series need to be read in order?
