  • Meet Cute Club

Meet Cute Club by Jack Harbon

Meet Cute Club by Jack Harbon is $2.99 at Amazon! This is a M/M contemporary romance with two enemies joining forces to save one of the heroes’ romance book club. Readers loved Jordan, who unabashedly loves romance novels, but had difficulties with Rex.

Jordan Collins doesn’t need a man.

What he needs is for his favorite author to release another one of her sexy supernatural novels and more people to sign up for the romance book club that he fears is slowly and steadily losing its steam. He also needs for the new employee at his local bookstore to stop making fun of him for reading things meant for “grandmas.”

The very last thing he needs is for that same employee, Rex Bailey, to waltz into his living room and ask to join Meet Cute Club. Despite his immediate thoughts—like laughing in his face and telling him to kick rocks—Jordan decides that if he wants this club to continue thriving, he can’t turn away any new members. Not even ones like Rex, who somehow manage to be both frustratingly obnoxious and breathtakingly handsome.

As Jordan and Rex team up to bring the club back from the ashes, Jordan soon discovers that Rex might not be the arrogant troll he made himself out to be, and that, like with all things in life, maybe he was wrong to judge a book by its cover.

  • The Scandal of It All

The Scandal of It All by Sophie Jordan

The Scandal of It All by Sophie Jordan is $1.99! This is book two in The Rogue Files series, but can be read on its own. Readers really loved the heroine and note that you’re first introduced to her in book one. However, some wished they believed a bit more strongly in the romance. It does have an older heroine though.

It takes two to make a scandal…

What kind of woman ventures into London’s most notorious pleasure club? An outsider like Graciela, the Duchess of Autenberry, snubbed time and time again by society because of her Spanish roots. Ela longs to take a lover for a single, wild night, and within the walls of Sodom there are gentlemen to suit every forbidden taste. If only she were not so drawn to the smoldering Lord Strickland…a dangerous man who sees beyond her mask, and could ruin her reputation with a mere whisper.

Lord Strickland never permitted himself to fantasize about the sultry, off-limits lady, but then he never expected to find Ela in a place so wicked, looking for what he’s more than too happy to give. She may not be to the ton’s taste, but she suits him perfectly. First, however, he must convince her to trust in this dangerous desire—and in the promise of forever unleashed by one wild, scandalous night.

  • Recipe for Kisses

Recipe for Kisses by Michelle Major

Recipe for Kisses by Michelle Major is 99c at Amazon! The heroine owns a toy shop, which I think is pretty neat. The hero is a chef who wants the heroine’s location to open up his own restaurant. There’s definitely lots of lust going on, if that is or isn’t your preferred element when it comes to a romance. This is the second book in the Colorado Hearts series and all four books are available for less than $4.

Chloe Daniels doesn’t need a man—after escaping a marriage gone bad, she guards her heart as closely as the details of her past. So when hot-tempered celebrity chef Ben “the Beast” Haddox storms into her struggling toy store, Chloe is determined not to be drawn in by his broad shoulders…or baby-blue eyes.

In his hometown, Ben’s culinary career is almost as famous as his bad-boy rep. He’s out to prove to naysayers he’s a success by opening a new restaurant—and the only thing standing in his way is Chloe’s store. But before he has a chance to convert her space into his signature eatery, she cooks up a plan to show him that her shop is worth saving.

As things start to sizzle between them, Chloe must figure out how to avoid getting burned. Can she trust herself to love again, or has she jumped out of the frying pan and into desire?

  • Irresistibly Yours

    Irresistibly Yours by Lauren Layne

Irresistibly Yours by Lauren Layne is $2.99! If you like great dialogue, I always recommend Layne and this was one of my book picks for a previous October’s Hide Your Wallet. However, a few readers found the setting a bit unrealistic. It has a 4-star rating on Goodreads and is the first book in the Oxford series.

Meet the men of Oxford magazine! In the first captivating spin-off of Lauren Layne’s Sex, Love & Stiletto series, a not-so-friendly battle of the sexes turns into a scorching office romance.

Hotshot sports editor Cole Sharpe has been freelancing for Oxford for years, so when he hears about a staff position opening up, he figures he’s got the inside track. Then his boss drops a bombshell: Cole has competition. Female competition, in the form of a fresh-faced tomboy who can hang with the dudes—and write circles around them, too. Cole usually likes his women flirty and curvy, but he takes a special interest in his skinny, sassy rival, if only to keep an eye on her. And soon, he can’t take his eyes off her.

Penelope Pope knows all too well that she comes off as just one of the guys. Since she’s learned that wanting more usually leads to disappointment, Penelope’s resigned to sitting on the sidelines when it comes to love. So why does Cole make her want to get back in the game? The man is as arrogant as he is handsome. He probably sees her as nothing more than a barrier to his dream job. But when an unexpected kiss turns into a night of irresistible passion, Penelope has to figure out whether they’re just fooling around—or starting something real.

A CURIOUS BEGINNING by Deanna Raybourn is $2.99 on Kindle (the first in the Veronica Speedwell series.) Definitely recommend if you like competence porn, curmudgeonly heroes, smart and adventurous heroines, mystery, and a touch of romance. The next book (#6) is out in early March.

  2. Ren Benton says:

Elemental (Shadows of Otherside Book 1) by Whitney Hill is 99 cents at Amazon (full price elsewhere, so price drop may be expiring soon). Urban fantasy with an elemental PI.

  3. Arijo says:

For Canadians who were bummed not to have 10 Things I Hate About the Duke by Loretta Chase when it was last announced as on sale (the CAN and US sales sometimes don’t match), it’s now 1.99$ on Amazon CA.

The Acton & Doyle mysteries by Anne Cleeland are also often mentionned on SBTB: Murder in Thrall, the first volume is on sale at 1.99$.

  4. Darlynne says:

HONEYTRAP by Aster Glenn Gray, which Janine at DA listed as one of her best reads of 2020, is on sale at Amazon US until Monday for $2.99.

  5. Antipodean Shenanigans says:

The Scandal of It All Is the book that put me off Sophie Jordan for good. It so frivolously treats the heroine’s concerns and struggles with infertility I was furious by the end.
Read the superior Seven Years to Sin by Sylvia Day. It’s has a similar setup with far better execution.

  6. Sydneysider says:

Irresistibly Yours was OK. The heroine is fun. The issue that causes the conflict/big misunderstanding is ridiculous and better suited to a novel set in prior decades.

  7. Lisa F says:

@Antipodean Shenanigans – Jordan’s been heading into F territory with her latest historicals for me for awhile, and her latest batch of books hasn’t helped her climb out of that hole for me.
