Links: A Free Book, Reading Recs, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hey there, everyone! It’s Links time! We hope you all are having a wonderful week and, if not, we hope you take some time for yourself. For me, it’s been a weird week as I’ve been incredibly busy lately and running on empty. Looking forward at doing something to recharge soon!

Every month, Tor.com offers up a free ebook for newsletter subscribers. This month, it’s C.L. Polk’s Witchmark, which has some romantic elements and I’ve heard some good things about it.

Miss Fisher fans! The Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears movie, as well as the Miss Fisher’s Modern Murder Mystery spin-off series will be coming to North America. I’ve very curious about the modern spin-off.

In the Missouri area and love romance? There’s a new convention coming your way in August, called Romance GenreCon. Admission is free and the Mid-Continent Library will be announcing some of their guest authors tomorrow!

Just in case you need to add more books to your TBR pile, I love Vicky Who Reads’ list of YA romance reading recs. There are over 80+ books on the list and they’re organized by fun, catnippy tropes.

Let’s close it out with some cool history.

..

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

In praise of all the Medieval nuns, especially those who outwitted all the men wander “at large to the notorious peril to her soul and to the scandal of all of her order.” I am here for all the women with no Fs left to give. Carry on, sister bitches. Thank you, Amanda, just the cool history I needed today.

This is a perfect story for Valentines. I am looking fwd for a well researched wandering nun romance novel based on this story! 🙂

I really recommend that Tor mailing list if you like sci fi and fantasy. They have given away some really great books through that. Their blog is also one of the better for the sci fi/fantasy genre. Shout-out to genres! And wild nuns! You go, girl!

Romance is a Bonus Book on Netflix is a bright spot I look forward to each weekend. The leads have such a great chemistry.

I discovered kpop last year and with it the podcast Ask Me About Kpop which has been really fun. Especially since the hosts are in their 30s, though still a bit younger than me. Sometimes it feels odd to be my age and a fan.

I’ve read Witchmark twice and I recommend it! There’s a sweet M/M romance for the main character.

Twitter brought Graveyard Shift Sisters to my attention. From their About page: “Graveyard Shift Sisters is an online resource dedicated to the scholarship surrounding the experiences, representations, achievements, and creative works of Black women and women of color in the horror and science fiction genres.”
