  • Holding on Tighter

Holding on Tighter by Shayla Black

Holding on Tighter by Shayla Black is $1.99! This is book twelve in the Wicked Lovers series and it can be read on its own. This book (and pretty much the whole series) is a blend of erotic romance and romantic suspense. Black tends to write some super alpha heroes, if that is or isn’t your thing.

Jolie Quinn is a woman in charge. Her no-nonsense attitude has made her a rising star in the fashion world and her brand a household name among the Dallas elite. Nothing will stop her from achieving her goals—not even the gorgeous British security contractor who seems just as interested in seeing her personal assets as he is in protecting her professional ones.

After a tragedy left him broken, Heath Powell made a rule of staying unattached. But Jolie challenges him in a way he can’t ignore, and he isn’t used to backing down from a confrontation—especially when the reward for winning could feel so good. As passion blazes between them, the stubborn, confident beauty arouses more than his desire. She touches his heart.

When a mysterious enemy threatens Jolie and her company, Heath is the only person Jolie can trust to help. But working with him to save her business might put her dangerously at risk of falling in love…

  • The Marrying Season

The Marrying Season by Candace Camp

The Marrying Season by Candace Camp is 99c! This is a historical romance with friends to lovers and marriage of convenience tropes. Readers liked the friends to lovers aspect, so pick this up if it’s your catnip. However, some things happened way too quickly for other readers.

Her brother Alec, Earl of Rawdon, has joyously wed his true love, but Genevieve Stafford anticipates no such unabashed emotion on her wedding day. The icily beautiful aristocrat is to marry Lord Dursbury, and love is not part of the bargain. But when someone frames Genevieve in a cruel scheme, the scandal shatters her engagement and her respectability. So why has Sir Myles Thorwood gallantly offered to marry her?

Handsome, flirtatious Myles is her opposite in many ways, yet he understands her the way no other man ever has. Trumping her expectations of a loveless marriage, Myles shows Genevieve just what it means to be man and wife . . . but are his attentions mere kindness or true devotion? Will their passion endure for more than a passing season?

  • Beautiful Lawman

    Beautiful Lawman by Sophie Jordan

Beautiful Lawman by Sophie Jordan is 99c! This is a small town romance with elements of enemies to lovers and opposites attract. Readers say this is an emotional and sexy read with lots of chemistry. But some readers say the chemistry felt more like lust rather than love. It has a 3.9-star rating on Goodreads.

From the wrong side of the tracks and with most of her family in jail or dead, Piper Walsh is used to everyone in town thinking the worst about her. It doesn’t seem to matter that she’s worked hard to build a good life for herself. So she isn’t surprised that when she comes into contact with Sweet Hill’s wildly irresistible, arrogant sheriff, Hale Walters, they’re instant adversaries. Piper has nothing in common with the town golden-boy-turned-lawman—and she refuses to be a notch on his bedpost.

Despite rumors, Hale avoids fooling around with the women of Sweet Hill, many of whom are hoping to get him to the altar. But staying out of Piper’s path is proving near impossible. The infuriating troublemaker clearly has no respect for his badge. As she continues to push his buttons, it becomes clear to Hale that he must either arrest Piper—or claim her as his own.

  • Ginger’s Heart

    Ginger’s Heart by Katy Regnery

Ginger’s Heart by Katy Regnery is 99c! This is book three in her Modern Fairy Tale series and is based on Little Red Riding Hood. Despite the description, there isn’t really a love triangle or any menage scenes. I wonder if the hero who doesn’t get picked gets his own romance later in the series. The Rapunzel retelling is available for $2.99 and you can preorder the Cinderella retelling for $2.99 as well.

Once upon a time there were two cousins:
    one golden like the sun,
    one dark like midnight,
    one a protector,
    one a predator,
    one a Woodsman
    and
    one a Wolf…
    both owning equal,
    but different,
parts of a little girl’s heart.

In this contemporary love story, loosely inspired by “Little Red Riding Hood,” the woodsman and the wolf are cousins, and Little Red is the girl with whom they both fall in love.

Beautiful Ginger McHuid, daughter of Kentucky’s premiere horse breeder, grows up on her family farm, best friends with Cain Wolfram, the son of her father’s Stallion Manager, and Cain’s cousin, Josiah Woodman, son of a local banker. Throughout their happy childhood, the three are inseparable friends, but as they mature into adults, complicated feelings threaten to destroy their long history of friendship and love.

If you name your baby “Cain Wolfram,” aren’t you pretty much just asking the universe for trouble?

  2. Lora says:

Is the girl’s name pronounced McWeed cause that’s what i’m reading….and Josiah Woodman sounds…well, like he’s not a banker, frankly. Like he’s maybe an old man who lives in a shack in the forest. No judgment if that’s your thing but…nope.

  3. Darlynne says:

Colin Cotterill’s first Dr. Siri mystery, THE CORONER’S LUNCH, is on sale for 1.99 at Amazon US. An absolutely delightful series.

  4. cleo says:

There’s a large group of mm novellas / short stories available for free through Instafreebie right now – I’ve only heard of a few of the authors involved- I’d recommend Annabeth Albert and Marie Sexton, although I don’t think either offering is their respective best.

  5. Katie Lynn says:

@Cleo- I’ve read about 6 of those shorts, and I can recommend the Albert, Lucy Lennox, Eden Finley, Samantha Wayland ones (and their other books, because I’ve read quite a bit from these authors). Others by authors I’ve really liked but haven’t read the shorts for yet: Ruthie Luhnow, Ed Davies, AM Arthur, Charlie Cochet, Cardeno C, and Alison Hendricks

Free right now (seriously, do yourself a favor and pick it up if you haven’t already!) Beauty and the Mustache by Penny Reid. Contemporary with a lot of comedy but also a lot of heavy emotion (TW and spoiler: their mother is dying of cancer).

  6. Vicki says:

Set the Night On Fire by Jennifer Bernard is currently free on amazon. Someone mentioned this author in this month’s what you are reading.
