Some readers had mixed feelings about the ending/epilogue, while others loved the tortured hero. This book was originally published in 1988 and recently received a new cover design. The Perfect Play
The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton is $1.99, which is a big deal because her books are rarely on sale! This is her first book in her sports contemporary Play by Play series and I’ve been very vocal about my love for the series in general. I also have a poster of one of her book covers because hot damn! I found this book to be a little slow and the hero is a bit too perfect at times. But for me, this was a decent start to a series that kept getting better and better.

The Shoemaker’s Wife by Adriana Trigiani is $1.99 at Amazon! I don’t think this is a Kindle Daily Deal, but I could be wrong. This is a romantic historical fiction novel. Readers loved the sense of place Trigiani created, but said her writing took some getting used to if you aren’t familiar with it.

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Volume 1 by Ryan North and Erica Henderson is $2.99 at Amazon and Comixology! I’ve heard such good things about this comic, though I haven’t read it yet. Reviews on this are a bit divided and your enjoyment will probably be based on how much silliness you can handle.

I think the blue floaty dress cover is pretty but I’ve never been able to get into Judith McNaught. I also swore a personal moratorium on books with “woman adjacent” titles quite a while back because there were SO MANY that it honked me off: so-and-so’s daughter, so-and-so’s wife, ad infinitum, blech.
Squirrel Girl is super-silly, but it’s also super-happy, and Doreen’s self-confidence and enthusiasm never fail to cheer me up. I always finish reading an issue or trade of SG with a big grin on my face.
Love the covers on the Jaci Burton sports series! However, I read the first book and it was just OK, I can’t even remember much of it now. Which is probably why I didn’t read any others in the series.
Squirrel Girl is great for kids. We’ve been getting them for my daughter since she was wee. Actually our whole family loves SG.
Little disappointed, saw “Squirrel Girl” in the link title, and thought “OH MY GOD THERE IS A BOOK ABOUT SQUIRREL FEMALE SHIFTERS!!!!!!GIMMMMMEEEE”
On another note, is Jaci Burton actually erotica, or more edgy contemporary romance? I’m on an erotica kick right now, but my bank account reeally can’t keep handling the Kindle one clicks (they just add up so fast), so I’m trying to be a little more discerning.

Love the floaty dress, but what’s going on with her hair?
I like the dress on book one but I don’t go for eighties rebrands usually. As for The Shoemaker’s Wife…I love Trigiani’s books in particular Lucia Lucia and Very Valentine, but this book was a huge depressing doorstop. My husband thoughtfully bought the hardback for me one valentine’s day knowing i like the writer. It took forever to slog through it, and ultimately it had a hollow and unpleasant tone. I sold it in a yard sale for a dollar.
Squirrel Girl is really charming but definitely on the goofier end of the superhero continuum. I like that she is a computer science major and has a non-modelesque body type, but my favorite aspect is that she solves problems quite frequently by communicating and compromising (although she is also totally capable of punching.)
@Hope – YES! I’ve also called a moratorium on anything with the word “girl” in it. Enough already!
@Hope, now that you mention it that is really common in book titles. I think somebody should right about men in the same way- The Midwife’s Husband, The Housewife’s Brother, etc.
Someone younger correct me if I’m wrong here, but I believe the correct response to that football player cover is DAT ASS!
Every time you post about daily deals involving Judith McNaught books, I think “yes!” and rush to amazon ‘cos I really want these as eBooks (I have them as paperbacks and re-visit regularly).
BUT each and every time I rediscover that there are no Judith McNaught kindle books at all in English available on Amazon uk.
This is torture! Please stop torturing me!

Something Wonderful was one of my first and favorite romance novels. However, it has not aged well.
