  • MacRieve

    MacRieve by Kresley Cole

MacRieve by Kresley Cole is $1.99 at Amazon and Barnes & Noble! Now you can officially complete the set! This book has an athlete heroine, which a lot of people enjoyed. So feel free to comment and tell us why you liked it! However, for me, this is actually one of my least favorite books in the series. This is my review from Goodreads:

While I loved how the book handled the themes of abuse and how it can perpetuate a cycle, the rest of the content was merely okay. The plot was predictable and both MacRieve and Chloe were rather…boring. MacRieve was nothing more than a big ball of hurt, rarely anything more, and Chloe’s bark was worse than her bite.

    A Beast In Torment

Uilleam MacRieve believed he’d laid to rest the ghosts of his boyhood. But when a brutal torture revives those ancient agonies and destroys his Lykae instinct, the proud Scot craves the oblivion of death. Until he finds her—a young human so full of spirit and courage that she pulls him back from the brink.

    A Beauty In Chains

Seized for the auction block, Chloe Todd is forced to enter a terrifying new world of monsters and lore as a bound slave. When offered up to creatures of the dark, she fears she won’t last the night. Until she’s claimed by him—a tormented immortal with heartbreaking eyes, whose touch sets her blood on fire.

A Full Moon On The Rise

With enemies circling, MacRieve spirits Chloe away to the isolated Highland keep of his youth. But once he takes her to his bed, his sensual mate becomes something more than human, evoking his savage past and testing his sanity. On the cusp of the full moon, can he conquer his worst nightmare to save Chloe . . . from himself?

  • The Last Victim

The Last Victim by Karen Robards

The Last Victim by Karen Robards is $1.99! This is a mystery/thriller with some paranormal and romantic suspense elements, and the first in a series. There is a twist in the story that a lot of readers HATED. I’ll spoil it for you just in case you’re on the fence.

    Possible Big Twist
The man the heroine becomes sexually involved with is the prime suspect as the serial killer. Some reviewers mention that even if it’s revealed the man is innocent, it really disturbed them too much in this book, especially since the man in question is technically a spirit.

However, many readers see this book as a modern ghost story and liked those paranormal elements. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

Dr. Charlotte Stone sees what others do not.

A sought-after expert in criminal pathology, Charlie regularly sits face-to-face with madmen. Obsessed with learning what makes human monsters commit terrible crimes, Charlie desires little else from life—no doubt because when she was sixteen, she herself survived a serial killer’s bloodbath: A man butchered the family of Charlie’s best friend, Holly, then left the girl’s body on a seaside boardwalk one week later.

Because of the information Charlie gave police, the Boardwalk Killer went underground. She kept to herself her eerie postmortem visions of Holly and her mother. And even years later, knowing her contact with ghosts might undermine her credibility as a psychological expert, Charlie tells no one about the visits she gets from the spirit world.

Now all-too-handsome FBI agent Tony Bartoli is telling Charlie that a teenage girl is missing, her family slaughtered. Bartoli suspects that after fifteen years, the Boardwalk Killer—or a sick copycat with his M.O.—is back. Time is running short for an innocent, kidnapped girl, and Bartoli pleads for Charlie’s help.

This is the one case Charlie shouldn’t go near. But she also knows that she may be the one person in the world who can stop this vicious killer. For Charlie—whose good looks disguise a world of hurt, vulnerability, and potent psychic gifts—a frantic hunt for a madman soon becomes a complex test of cunning, passions, and secrets. Aiding Dr. Stone on her quest to catch a madman is a ghostly presence with bad intentions: the fiery spirit of seductive bad boy Michael Garland who refuses to be ignored, though in his cat and mouse game they may both lose their hearts.

Dr. Charlotte Stone sees what others do not. And she sees the Boardwalk Killer coming for her.

  • Cold Burn of Magic

Cold Burn of Magic by Jennifer Estep

Cold Burn of Magic by Jennifer Estep is $2.99! This is a young adult urban fantasy with a heroine who hunts monsters and lives in a library basement (which I would do in a heartbeat). Some readers mentioned that there’s a lot going on in setting up the world, since it’s the first book in a series. Meanwhile, others loved the cast of characters, mainly a cowboy pixie by the name of Oscar. Have you read this one?

There Be Monsters Here. . .

It’s not as great as you’d think, living in a tourist town that’s known as “the most magical place in America.” Same boring high school, just twice as many monsters under the bridges and rival Families killing each other for power.

I try to keep out of it. I’ve got my mom’s bloodiron sword and my slightly illegal home in the basement of the municipal library. And a couple of Talents I try to keep quiet, including very light fingers and a way with a lock pick.

But then some nasty characters bring their Family feud into my friend’s pawn shop, and I have to make a call–get involved, or watch a cute guy die because I didn’t. I guess I made the wrong choice, because now I’m stuck putting everything on the line for Devon Sinclair. My mom was murdered because of the Families, and it looks like I’m going to end up just like her. .

  • Losing It

    Losing It by Cora Carmack

Losing It by Cora Carmack is $2.99! This new adult romance has a 3.8-star average on GoodReads. Readers who enjoyed it really liked how charming and funny it was, especially the dialogue. Case in point, one of the most highighted sections is:

“Is this the part where you tell me you’re a vampire?”

He chuckled. “No, I promise the paleness is only because I’m British.”

However, a few readers have also complained that the characters could have used more development.

Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, Bliss Edwards decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible – a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe.

And as if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She’d left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

I am full of love for The Last Victim. It is mind-blowingly stuffed with crazy. It is an extremely atypical romance, and I can understand why many readers were upset, but I am so into it.

  2. CelineB says:

Picked by Helena Hunting is .99 at Amazon at least. It took me a bit to get into the writing style but I ended really enjoying it.

  3. Mary says:

Loved the Dr. Charlotte Stone series by Karen Robards.

  4. Caroline says:

I’ve liked a lot of Robards over the years, but I really could not get into this one. It was DNF for me and I ended up punishing the paperback by putting it in the plant holder to raise up my begonia.

  5. SAO says:

Re Robards: I was surprised by the twist and it took me a while to decide that I liked it. It’s been a while since a book has a twist that I didn’t see coming for a mile.
