On the fifth night of Hanukkah, Smart Bitches gave to me: MORE book store shopping money!
Today's 5th night of Hanukkah gift: a $100 gift card to the bookstore of your choice.
Standard disclaimers apply: I'm not being compensated for this giveaway. Void where prohibited. Must be 18 years of age and a curious reader. Open to international residents. I recommend sweet potato latkes, especially with a little curry and cinnamon.
To enter, leave a comment telling us which book you'd buy as a gift this year. I will choose the winner at random. You have 24 hours to enter.
Happy Hanukkah! (I hope you are enjoying the week of Hanukkah Mayhem.)
There’s an unofficial Downton Abbey cookbook??? Oooh, must look for that.
As a gift, I would give the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 100 Dresses to a friend of mine who loves 20th century fashion design.
Elegance of a Hedgehog, love that book!!!
Iced by Karen Marie Moning of course!
I’m buying my brother the new Samuel Delaney, In the Valley of Spiders (I think? can’t remember the exact title). Not a romance book, but apparently it does have a lot of sex, so there’s that…
I think I’d gift “A Modern Witch” by Debora Geary. (But actually the author will do this for me.) The Witch Central crowd I think embody everything the holidays should be about, coming together, helping each other out, glitter and a little magic.
Agnes and the Hitman by Jennifer Crusie
I bought Charlie, the ranch dog for my nephew.
I would get the Bella Andre Sullivan series for a friend. Loved them!
Anything Nora Roberts for romance. Or Susan Mallery
The Gruffalo. My children and I love this story and they insist on gifting it to all of their friends.
I’m still deciding between a Debbie Macomber or a cookbook for my mom.
I’m giving the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews to my best friend. She’s gonna LURVVVVE me!!!!!!
I’ve already bought two kindle books to give as gifts: Rosencratz and Guildenstern are Dead and “The Black Count” (which is about Alexandre Dumas’ father)
Probably the book that ‘Liz and Dick’ was based on to see if it could drive the memory of the film away…
I’d like to give a copy of Eloisa James’ Paris in Love to anyone who’s feeling down or unhappy this season – it’s guaranteed to make anyone smile.
The Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night by Deberah Harkness PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
I’d buy the annotated Pride and Prejudice from 2 years ago.
I’d get the newest Stephen King for my husband, since he’s a mad SK collector and never misses one of his books.
I would buy The Letter by Marie Tillman as a gift. Beautiful, inspiring book.
I think my sister would love to be introduced to the world of Susanna Kearsley. The trick would be to figure out which to start with—maybe the same one I started out with—Winter Sea.
I just bought myself a copy of Seducing Mr, Knightly by Maya Rodale as a present to myself….something to read on the plane!
My brother is getting Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One. Whether I win or not. 🙂
I would actually buy all the Black Dagger Brotherhood for my best friend in the hopes that she would read more than just the first one! I want her to be as addicted to these smokin’ hot warriors as I am!
Just one book for a gift? I do like the idea of getting “Outlander” for a friend who hasn’t read it yet and might be just a touch intimidated by it.
Notorious Nineteen for my best friend – who loves Janet Evanovich
I was going to surprise a co-worker, who is having a hard time this year, with the book the Inn at Rose Harbor by Debbie Macomber but she may have read it already, so I got her a gift card to the book store. Santa will be leaving it in her locker tomorrow!
Kim Stanley Robinson’s 2312. My husband actual asked for it.
I would buy a book for someone who I know can’t read. I don’t want to give his name. He’s a mechanic, and super smart, he just has really bad dyslexia. So I’d get him this coffee table cook, full of pictures. He can look through it. I know he loves Mercedes, and only works on European cars. He has an old, beat up Mercedes now, and I know he’d love looking through this book: Mercedes-Benz: 300SL Book (German, English and French Edition) [Hardcover]
hxxp://www.amazon.com/Mercedes…
I would give away the entire Kate Daniels’ series because it’s just awesome! Thanks for the giveaway 🙂
smaccall AT comcast.net
‘Inheritors’ by Jo Graham, Amy Griswald, and Melissa Scott – the 6th book in the SGA Legacy series. (Actually, I’d get the 4th and 5th books in the series in hardcopy, too, because I only have them in soft.)
…I can’t think of anything else OTOH…
I’m going to buy The Night Circus for everyone who hasn’t read it this year. And then bug them until they read it so I will have someone else to geek with.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. Not a romance but an excellent book about coming to terms with feeling helpless and the guilt associated with having to watch someone you love die. Even more poignant when you realize that the story is about a lung boy’s loss. Cried almost every page.
Back to You by Robin Kaye. Her new series set in Brooklyn.
anna karenina movie tie in edition 😀
Tessa Dare’s “A Week to be Wicked” because it was awesome and because the heroine is a geologist!
My Berlin Kitchen
This is so hard. I have a two page list of books I want to buy. I think I’d choose a Rachel Gibson…Rescue Me or Crazy on You.
I would give each of my sisters “Warm Bodies” 🙂
Hm. Very hard to say. I think I’d probably get my friend a entire print set of Frank Tuttle’s Markhat series because she likes it so much.
Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay
