All the Right Notes by Dominic Lim is $2.99! Dahlia mentioned this one in her monthly queer romances column. It was also Lim’s debut and I’ve heard good things about it.
RECOMMENDED: A Morbid Taste for Bones by Ellis Peters is $3.99 at Amazon! This is book one in The Chronicles of Brother Cadfael series, which I remember Sarah enjoying. Here’s what she said:
This book and the next few books of the series got me through the scariest parts of early Quarantimes.
So We Meet Again by Suzanne Park is $2.99! This is a contemporary romance and was mentioned in a previous Hide Your Wallet. As an aside, I’ve done a few events with Park for their books and they are a damn delight.
Dark Archives by Megan Rosenbloom is $3.99! I mentioned this on a previous Hide Your Wallet and it’s a nonfiction title about the phenomena of binding books in human skin. We have one in Boston! However, I’m unsure if this is one of those books that’s best to have in a physical copy.
Sunshine by Robin McKinley is $1.99! McKinley has been recommended several times at SBTB HQ. Some readers label this as young adult and, for the most part, I’d agree with that sentiment. According to reviews on Goodreads, there were complaints about the balance of narrative to action, but many loved this different take on the vampire story. I know many of you have read this one, so let us know in the comments whether you loved it or hated it!
Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen is $2.99! I can’t recommended Allen’s books highly enough and I love the magical realism she incorporates. However, some readers wished they could have identified more with the characters. Are you fan of Allen’s writing?
RECOMMENDED: Song of Blood & Stone by L. Penelope is $1.99! This is the first book in the Earthsinger Chronicles and is an amazing fantasy romance. Penelope’s writing is so underrated, in my opinion. I also recommend her podcast episode with Sarah; Penelope has her own podcast as well: My Imaginary Friends.
The Lion’s Daughter by Loretta Chase is 99c at select vendors! This is the first book in the Scoundrels series and was originally published in 1992. Some readers found the main characters rather difficult to like. However, others say this is a trademark Chase with a little bit of crazysauce thrown in for good measure. Are you a fan?
RECOMMENDED: A Gentleman’s Game by Theresa Romain is $2.51 at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere! Redheadedgirl read this historical romance and gave it an A:
Theresa Romain basically created a series just for me, and the first full-length book just confirms it. She reached into my head and found the references and plot that would make me happiest, and gave those thoughts a beautiful cover and said, “Here!”
Once a Soldier by Mary Jo Putney is $1.99! Readers loved the strong heroine and how she paired well with the hero, but others found a bulk of the book to be dull and lacking any momentum. This is the first book in the Rogues Redeemed series. Have you read this one?
