RECOMMENDED: Heroine Complex by Sarah Kuhn is still $1.99 at Amazon! This is the first book in the Heroine Complex series and it’s one that Carrie loves. She reviewed this one and gave it a B+:
You usually can’t judge a book by it’s cover, but honestly you can totally judge this book by its cover, which features two Asian heroines with obviously different personalities, a demonic cupcake (can’t get enough of those) and bright colors. If that cover causes grabby hand syndrome, then yes, you will adore the book.
RECOMMENDED: The Devil’s Daughter by Katee Robert is $1.99 at Amazon! Elyse read this and gave it a B grade, saying that it could have used a bit more romance:
The Devil’s Daughter is high on tension, but light on gore and scares, so readers typically leery of suspense might consider this novel.
RECOMMENDED: Blamed by Edie Harris is 99c! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and is being matched at Barnes and Noble. I loved this romantic suspense, especially the part where the heroine thinks the hero is dead and the moment where they reunite. But I will warn you that it’s incredibly violent. I gave it an A-:
This book was an amazingly pleasant surprise and I lost track of the number of good book noises I made while reading it. I’m still getting my feet wet when it comes to romantic suspense, but I picked a good book to try out.
Beauty by Robin McKinley is $1.99! McKinley is highly recommended around these parts and Beauty & the Beast retellings is some major catnip. Some readers took issue with the pacing, but many loved the writing and detail. Have you read this one?
RECOMMENDED: Dark Skye by Kresley Cole is $1.99! This means we’re officially caught up on the cover redesigns. This is a paranormal romance and my favorite of the series. I waited ages for Thronos and Lanthe’s story and I wound up giving the book an A- grade:
The book was worth the wait. Truly. The themes of religion fit nicely into the character differences and I was really pulling for Lanthe and Thronos to make important compromises for the benefit of their relationship. I also thought it was a nice touch that Lanthe’s abilities grew more powerful and she became more confident in using them when she was around Thronos, a sign that being with the right person can make you stronger.
Take a Chance on Me by Jennifer Dawson is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a runaway bride and a bartender. It’s also the first book in the Something New series. Readers thought this was a great first book in a new series, though some found the story to be a little too cute. Anyone taking a chance on this book? (Harhar, see what I did there?)
