Heiress Gone Wild by Laura Lee Guhrke is $1.99 at select vendors! I’m a huge fan of Guhrke’s earlier romances, though haven’t kept up with her newer ones. We’ve had several reviews of those, though, and they seem to be all over the place in terms of grade. Catherine gave this particular one a D, but as always, your mileage may vary.

This is a historical romance adventure with a mystery to solve and a touch of the paranormal, and while there are parts of the book that drove me scatty (more on that soon), I really did love the lead characters (In short, they’re ADORABLE!). Desmond Harrison, the son of a criminal banished to a penal colony, has ‘made good.’ The vicar in his Dorset village tutored him and introduced him to his mentor, Professor Gordon. … Continue reading Her Scandalous Pursuit by Candace Camp →

In case you missed it: I know last Hide Your Wallet we instituted some changes. Well now we have more, thanks to the comment left by Katie C. A lot of you expressed wanting to keep the wide breadth of new releases and Katie’s suggestion was pretty great. We’re still keeping our book maximums (five per person), but have added an extra HYW post per month, allowing another five books per person. The first HYW … Continue reading January’s New Releases, Part Two →

His Wicked Charm by Candace Camp is $1.99! Carrie read this one and gave it a C+:
It was an entertaining romance of what I call the soap bubble variety. It was pretty, it was entertaining, and when it was finished I forgot all about it.
Sometimes we can use a soap bubble read.

His Wicked Charm is a fun Regency Gothic romance. This is one of many books in the “Mad Moreland Series,” which is about an unconventional upper class family in England. In this book, one of the Moreland brothers, Con, teams up with his sister’s friend Lilah to solve mysteries and fight crime (basically). Con is the “bad” brother and Lilah is the “boring” friend. The story kicks off with a kidnapping and winds up full-in Gothic … Continue reading His Wicked Charm by Candace Camp →

Holding on Tighter by Shayla Black is $1.99! This is book twelve in the Wicked Lovers series and it can be read on its own. This book (and pretty much the whole series) is a blend of erotic romance and romantic suspense. Black tends to write some super alpha heroes, if that is or isn’t your thing.

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson is $1.99! This book released in January and I bought it in a huge YA book haul, though I haven’t gotten to read it yet. It’s also a Kindle Daily Deal and is being price-matched. Readers love the mystery and the setting, but warn that the ending feels like a cliffhanger.

Wonder Women by Sam Maggs is $1.99! I was really taken by the adorable cover when I first saw it, and awesome women in history is definitely on brand for SBTB. There are over sixty women discussed in this book and many readers noted that they only heard of a small portion. The book does feature some illustrations, though, and I’m not sure how they’d translate digitally.

It feels like ages since we’ve talked about new release, but Hide Your Wallet is finally here! Below are some books we’re really excited for and it seems to be a back heavy month. However, we know there are other books that might be on your TBR piles. Here are a few: Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff continues the Illuminae Files series! Patricia Briggs fans, are you excited for Burn Bright ? With this Man by Jodi Ellen Malpas … Continue reading March’s New Releases →

RECOMMENDED: The Diviners by Libba Bray is $2.99! This is YA fantasy set in 1920s New York, so you can bet there are plenty of amazing clothes and fancy speakeasies. I personally loved the cast of characters, especially the heroine Evie and Evie’s uncle, who happens to curate an occult museum. However, some people found Evie to border on the TSTL category. Any readers care to weigh in on what they thought?
