I remember the series was about a powerful/wealthy/important Scottish (?) family. In the one I read, the heroine wanders away from the house and gets lost in the woods/hills/mountains around the house, and I think she caused an earthquake after being threatened by some less than scrupulous men. The hero finds her and rescues her just in the nick of time! They may have had to stay overnight in a cave, but I am not so sure about that. He does bring her back to the house where her family is staying. This includes her siblings (some of them at least) and their families. I want to say that magic runs in their family.
I can’t remember any characters names and this was one book in a series. I am pretty sure it was set in Scotland, but it could also have been in England.

maybe it could be one of the Patricia Rice books about the Malcolm family. she has other books with magic in them but the earthquake is not ringing any bells for me. I have read all of her books, some more than once; some are duds but most of them are great.
I finally know one of these! It’s Magic Man by Patricia Rice! The Hero causes earthquakes, not the heroine.
One of Catherine Bybee’s first series was about a magical Scottish family. None of the women can cause earthquakes but the patriarch has that power. I believe the heroine runs off in Highland Shifter while the family is gathered at the keep and later there’s a skirmish and earthquake tremors.
