  • Blood on the Tide

Blood on the Tide by Katee Robert

RECOMMENDED: Blood on the Tide by Katee Robert is $1.99 and a KDD! This is book two in the Crimson Sails series and Lara gave it a B+:

When I review books, I stop intermittently to jot down notes. With Katee Robert books, I get so immersed so quickly that I forget to take notes. The story sucks me in comprehensively and this book is no exception to that rule. If you’re interested in this series, definitely start with book one as the two are closely linked. I can heartily recommend both.

As a bloodline vampire, Lizzie has never had a problem taking what she wants, and right now what she wants are the family heirlooms that were stolen from her, a ship, and a portal home. Unfortunately, even that short list is impossible to accomplish on her own—and her allies have bigger things to worry about. When they rescue a selkie, it’s the perfect solution to her problem. Lizzie needs a guide through Threshold and the selkie needs her skin back.

Maeve didn’t choose to give up her skin—it was stolen from her. Now she’s in an uneasy partnership with a dangerous woman who seems more apt to kill than to share a kind word. It’s terrifying…and a bit alluring. Even though she knows it will end in heartbreak, Maeve can’t help being drawn to Lizzie.

Unfortunately, the danger to Maeve’s heart is the least of her worries. The ship they’re seeking belongs to the Cwn Annwn, and they don’t take kindly to people who cross them. They’re coming hunting, and not even Lizzie’s viciousness or Maeve’s knowledge will be enough to save them…

  • The Duke Gets Even

The Duke Gets Even by Joanna Shupe

The Duke Gets Even by Joanna Shupe is 99c! This is book four in the Fifth Avenue Rebels series. I loved the intimacy in the last couple covers of this series. Shupe was also the guest on episode 650 of the podcast! Highly recommend giving it a listen.

By beloved USA Today bestselling author Joanna Shupe, the fourth installment in the Fifth Avenue Rebels series about a secret affair between a free-spirited heiress and an uptight duke which turns more passionate than either could have imagined.

    A rebellious heiress.

    A duke in dire straits.

    An anonymous midnight tryst.

To escape the shackles of marriage, Nellie Young purposely ruined her reputation a long time ago. Now she dedicates herself to hedonistic pleasures only, like kissing a handsome stranger in the ocean under the moonlight…

To save his estate, the proper Duke of Lockwood must marry the perfect bride–wealthy, with an unblemished reputation. While in New York he’s the perfect gentleman, and no one knows he’s suppressing his darkest desires. The last thing he needs is another scandal.

  • Marriage & Masti

Marriage & Masti by Nisha Sharma

Marriage and Masti by Nisha Sharma is $1.99! This is book three in the If Shakespeare Were an Auntie series. We mentioned it on Hide Your Wallet when it came out last August.

The third and final installment in Nisha Sharma’s beloved Shakespeare-inspired rom-com trilogy—an ode to Twelfth Night—is the perfect friends to lovers romp featuring an accidental wedding, meddling families, and plenty of sizzling chemistry.

Veera Mathur has been through a lot in the past year. Both of her friends found soul mates, the man she fell in love with got engaged to another woman, and her father fired her before selling the family company. When her twin sister, Sana, tells her there is no way of getting her old life back, Veera feels lost at a single, unemployed mess with a bad tattoo and tons of talent, but nowhere to go.

Deepak Datta hasn’t had the best luck either. To secure enough board votes for the CEO position at his family’s company, Illyria Media, he’s ready to marry board member and famous beauty influencer, Olivia Gupta. That is until he wakes up to a get ready with me video announcing their separation. Despite his immediate relief, Deepak needs to do something fast to repair his image.

After a series of convenient mishaps bring them together again—including a literal shipwreck, way too many drinks, and a sunset elopement on the beach—Deepak and Veera realize their accidental wedding might be the solution to their career aspirations. Together, they plot against the very company that ruined their lives in the first place.

As they try to convince the world their friendship was a ruse for romance they’ve felt all along, the line between fake and real begins to blur. Now Veera and Deepak must ask themselves the terrifying question that has haunted them since the first time they will love ruin everything?

With her signature humor and heartfelt storytelling, Nisha Sharma writes a messy, spicy romance about identity, family honor, and love. In Marriage & Masti, readers are sure to love the highly anticipated finale of this beloved trilogy.

  • Hunted

    Hunted by Meagan Spooner

RECOMMENDED: Hunted by Meagan Spooner is $1.99 and another KDD! Elyse really loved this book and gave it an A:

Hunted is delightful. It’s the BatB adaptation that I didn’t know that I wanted or needed, but that kept me up reading all night. Unlike in many of versions of the fairytale, Beauty (in this case Yeva) isn’t the kindest, gentlest, “good”-est daughter of a wealthy merchant. In Hunted, she’s the strongest, the most feral.

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

I *think* I am remembering the Shupe correctly as a “this relationship is never going to ACTUALLY work.” I also think there’s a bit with Nellie trying to help a woman in a domestic violence situation and me shouting, “HOLY HELL, STOP NOW!”

I am trying to wean myself off Amazon eBooks for various reasons, including the inability now to download the actual book file. I have decided to use Kobo because they will let me do such a download. I see that there is a link for Hunted on the Kobo store, but Kobo doesn’t seem to be price matching Amazon. In looking for information on Kobo price matching, it seems you buy first, and then ask for a refund, which is a Kobo book credit. Has anyone done this? Does it work?

  3. Erin says:

    @Laurel

Yes, I use Kobo price matching regularly, and it’s super easy! If you scroll down to the bottom of the main webpage there is a link that takes you to a form to fill out after you make your purchase. (I usually will open in a new tab so that I can have my order number handy, which pops up right after you buy a book on Kobo.) After you submit the information (including the Kobo order number, your email address, a link to the website selling the book for a lower price and what that price is), you will receive a refund that is the difference plus an extra 10 percent discount in the form of a credit on your account that can be used for your next purchase. I usually get the credit within a few hours of filling out the form.

Canadian here, and I’m also not using Amazon anymore. Really hoping Kobo will carry some of these deals!

  5. BethB says:

@Laurel I haven’t (yet) had to submit a price match form because the books I’ve bought from kobo have already been matched. But I’m sure I will soon, having now switched to them from Amazon.

According to the website as long as you’re in an eligible country you should get kobo store credit to make up the difference, +10%.

I’ve read various comments online from others saying they have done so and had it credited with no problems – sometimes within hours – so I’m optimistic. A screenshot might be a good idea for proof in case of short-term sales too? I’ve found the kobo subreddit surprisingly(!) friendly and helpful for various info I’ve looked up so far.
