  • Hate to Want You

Hate to Want You by Alisha Rai

RECOMMENDEDHate to Want You by Alisha Rai is still $1.99! This angsty contemporary romance has been recommended on several podcast episodes and received an A grade from Redheadedgirl:

So much angst. So much pathos. EVERYTHING HAPPENS SO MUCH.

Alisha Rai, one of contemporary romance’s brightest stars, makes her Avon Books debut with the first novel in the sexy Forbidden Hearts series!

One night. No one will know.

That was the deal. Every year, Livvy Kane and Nicholas Chandler would share one perfect night of illicit pleasure. The forbidden hours let them forget the tragedy that haunted their pasts—and the last names that made them enemies.

Until the night she didn’t show up.

Now Nicholas has an empire to run. He doesn’t have time for distractions and Livvy’s sudden reappearance in town is a major distraction. She’s the one woman he shouldn’t want . . . so why can’t he forget how right she feels in his bed?

Livvy didn’t come home for Nicholas, but fate seems determined to remind her of his presence—and their past. Although the passion between them might have once run hot and deep, not even love can overcome the scandal that divided their families.

Being together might be against all the rules . . . but being apart is impossible.

  • Chick Magnet

    Chick Magnet by Emma Barry

Chick Magnet by Emma Barry is $1.99! I believe it’s also part of KU, so if you subscribe, check this one out. It was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet.

From Emma Barry comes a clever romance about a hot veterinarian and a chicken-loving influencer who can’t help but ruffle each other’s feathers.

Nicole Jones needs a fresh start. “Chick Nic” to millions of internet fans, the social media star and her flock of chickens bask in the spotlight—until she’s publicly dumped by a YouTuber for clout. She has no choice but to round up her birds and move on.

But when one of her hens has an emergency, Nic gets her first taste of her new stomping grounds—and it isn’t good. Veterinarian Will Lund is wildly attractive, yes, but he’s also surly. In fact, he comes right out and calls her a menace for parading her chickens on social media.

As neighbors, Nic and Will can’t exactly avoid each other. Then again, maybe they don’t want to. The two can’t deny their smoldering attraction, and it isn’t long before late-night confessions lead to backyard shenanigans.

Is this the start of a neighborly relationship—or could something more be hatching?

  • Into the Drowning Deep

Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant

RECOMMENDED: Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and it’s being price-matched. Elyse & I really enjoyed this horror/sci-fi novel. We jointly reviewed the book and ultimately decided on a B. We loved the cast of characters, but found the ending anticlimactic.

New York Times bestselling author Mira Grant, author of the renowned Newsflesh series, returns with a novel that takes us to a new world of ancient mysteries and mythological dangers come to life.

Seven years ago, the Atargatis set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a “mockumentary” bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a maritime tragedy.

Now, a new crew has been assembled. But this time they’re not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life’s work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost.

Whatever the truth may be, it will only be found below the waves.

But the secrets of the deep come with a price.

  • About a Rogue

About a Rogue by Caroline Linden

About a Rogue by Caroline Linden is $1.99! This is the first book in a series and was a previous Hide Your Wallet pick. We were excited for the working class heroine. Have you read it?

The first book in the new series Desperately Seeking Duke from USA Today bestselling and RITA award-winning author Caroline Linden.

    It’s no love match…

Bianca Tate is horrified when her sister Cathy is obliged to accept an offer of marriage from Maximilian St. James, notorious rake. Defiantly she helps Cathy elope with her true love, and takes her sister’s place at the altar.

It’s not even the match that was made…

Perched on the lowest branch of his family tree, Max has relied on charm and cunning to survive. But an unexpected stroke of luck gives him an outside chance at a dukedom—and which Tate sister he weds hardly seems to matter.

But could it be the perfect match?

Married or not, Bianca is determined to protect her family’s prosperous ceramics business, even when Max shows an affinity for it—not to mention a dangerous ability to intrigue and tempt Bianca herself. And when Max realizes how beautiful and intelligent and desirable Bianca is, he’ll have to prove he’s no rogue, but the passionately devoted husband she craves…

  1. FashionablyEvil says:

Ooh, I loved HATE TO WANT YOU (and I thank Alisha Rai for getting me back into reading romance.) The whole Forbidden Hearts series is great—it’s basically Wegman’s plus a soap opera. So good. I think I will go re-read now.

  2. SB Sarah says:

“Wegman’s plus a soap opera” is the perfect description!

  3. MaryK says:

I enjoyed About a Rogue and was looking forward to the rest of the series then forgot to keep an eye out for when they were published. That happens to me a lot.

I literally showed the cover of HATE TO WANT YOU to my tattoo artist and said “I want this flower design, but with color please”. Haven’t regretted it for a second. Oh, and the book is great too!

Amanda, I’m with you and Elyse about INTO THE DROWNING DEEP. The exploration of communication styles in the midst of a gory horror novel was just catnip for me. The ending made me wonder if my kindle hadn’t downloaded a chapter or two, but otherwise it was a fantastic read.

  7. Maria F says:

i think the covers for the Rai series are so beautiful! especially this one.

  8. Mary says:

Hate to Want to You is great and I also liked About A Rogue. I’ve read several books by both of these authors, Alisha Rai is really good. I like Caroline Linden but she can be a bit uneven.

  9. Amy E. says:

Oooooh!!! Mira Grant aka Seanan McGuirre!!
    *Chants ominously* Mer-maids! Mer-maids! Mer-maids!
