Help A Bitch Out

HaBO: She Falls for Her Late Dad’s Best Friend

This HaBO is from Alyssa, who wants to find age-gap romance. Trigger warnings for pregnancy complications in the description below:

I’m going out of my mind not being able to find this book again! I read it last year on Kindle Unlimited and I can’t find it anywhere. Its not really all that dark but more of a taboo relationship.

It’s an age-gap romance. I think there’s like a 15-16 year age gap and the book starts off with the heroine being around 18 years old. She blames the hero for her dad’s death that happened years ago on a mission gone wrong. They eventually reconcile, but she goes off to college unexpectedly and they lose contact.

He unknowingly runs into her again years later at a strip club, where she’s dancing but has a mask on. He asks for her help with a job and then he ends up finding out it was her the next day. They slept together and she had a tattoo on the back of her neck of the world on fire or something like that because she thought he would burn the world down for her.

They lose contact again, but I think it was another year or so  before they run into each other again. She is now a cardiologist helping treat a heart condition of the hero’s friend.

I know at some point the hero fakes his death to try to protect her but she gets herself into a sticky situation trying to save her half-brother. The hero reveals himself to save her, but she ends up hurt anyway. After she survives, she ends up pregnant and near the end of the pregnancy she had a placental abruption and went septic and almost died.

Her half brother and their close family friend’s daughter end up kissing at the end of the book. I think the hero owns a private security company or something. I can’t remember any character’s names or the title or author. Thank you for any help in advance!

Well that’s a roller coaster.

Oh! But if you read it on KU, you should be able to see your past log of borrowed titles, if you read it in your own Amazon account.
