  • True Pretenses

    True Pretenses by Rose Lerner

True Pretenses by Rose Lerner is $2.99! This historical romance was previously featured on Cover Awe with its previous cover. The hero is Jewish and Lerner mentioned in a previous podcast that the book was inspired by the movie, The Brothers Bloom. Have you read this one?

Never steal a heart unless you can afford to lose your own.

Through sheer force of will, Ash Cohen raised himself and his younger brother from the London slums to become the best of confidence men. He’s heartbroken to learn Rafe wants out of the life, but determined to grant his brother his wish.

It seems simple: find a lonely, wealthy woman. If he can get her to fall in love with Rafe, his brother will be set. There’s just one problem—Ash can’t take his eyes off her.

Heiress Lydia Reeve is immediately drawn to the kind, unassuming stranger who asks to tour her family’s portrait gallery. And if she married, she could use the money from her dowry for her philanthropic schemes. The attraction seems mutual and oh so serendipitous—until she realizes Ash is determined to matchmake for his younger brother.

When Lydia’s passionate kiss puts Rafe’s future at risk, Ash is forced to reveal a terrible family secret. Rafe disappears, and Lydia asks Ash to marry her instead. Leaving Ash to wonder—did he choose the perfect woman for his brother, or for himself?

  • To Covet a Countess

To Covet a Countess by Sapna Bhog

To Covet a Countess by Sapna Bhog is 99c! This is book two in the Elusive Lords series, though I think it can be read as a standalone. Anyone familiar with this series?

Nicholas Delmore, the Earl of Hawksley, was not expecting a snowstorm-sieged London evening to end with a dagger held to his throat. Nor did he anticipate his spirited attacker to have glossy black tresses and lush red lips that might invite a lesser gentleman to steal a kiss. But before he can demand his beautiful assailant to identify herself, she faints dead away in his arms.

Sania Aaryan has no choice but to trust the breathtakingly handsome Earl of Hawksley with both her life and her sister’s. Trusting him with the truth, however, is out of the question. Because fleeing India for the icy shores of England was rash. Impulsive. And it might have saved her life—only to land her into the arms of a man who poses an entirely different kind of danger.

Now Sania is experiencing a world filled with luxury and opulent decadence. But starry nights and fairy-tale balls cannot chase away the shadows of Sania’s secrets. Especially when her terrible past arrives in London with an eye for icy vengeance…

Vegan Holiday Cookbook by Katie Culpin is $1.99! Sometimes, holiday cooking can be tricky for large groups as people may have dietary needs and restrictions. For only a couple bucks, this seems like a good place to start!

75 Veganized Seasonal Classics for Family and Friends

  • Bad Boys of Rogue 5

Bad Boys of Rogue 5 by Grace Goodwin

Bad Boys of Rogue 5 by Grace Goodwin is 99c! This is a boxed set with five sci-fi romances with a variety of tropes. I don’t think these are in any sort of series order, in case any of you are looking to collect, say, books 1-5 of a series.

Bad Boys of Rogue 5 – Special Holiday Boxed Set

    Her Rogue Mates

No rules. No laws. No mercy. She belongs to them now. An Earth member of the medical recovery team on Transport Station Zenith, Harper meets two mysterious strangers from an unknown world. Styx, a leader from Rogue 5, knows Harper is destined to belong to him and his most trusted enforcer, Blade. But when Styx is betrayed by one of his own kind, she’s caught in the deadly crossfire. Her mates must tread carefully, for even if they win the battle on the lawless outer moon, they might lose the most important battle of all, the one for Harper’s heart.

    His Virgin Princess

Danielle arrives on Everis excited to meet her new mate. She watches as her friends find happiness while haunted by dreams of an Everian Hunter who will not come for her – a mate who refuses to claim her. But something isn’t right. The dreams turn dark.

Gage of Everis is heir to a seat on the Seven, the ruling council of families that have held power on Everis for thousands of years. He’s the last prince of his line and someone doesn’t want him to rise to his place on the ruling council. Betrayed, tortured and alone, Gage has found solace in knowing he’s protected his Marked Mate from sharing his fate. But his stubborn bride refuses to listen to reason. When she finds him, there will be a reckoning. Not only is Gage determined to find those who betrayed him, but to conquer the wild huntress who came for him in the dark and stole his heart.

    Rogue Cyborg

He conquers her, body and soul. Makarios of Kronos is a rebel, a smuggler who reports to no one, not even those on Rogue 5. But one betrayal sends him to a Coalition brig, and to a fate worse than death—capture by the Hive. He escapes but exchanges one prison for another. He now lives on the Colony, contaminated and deemed a risk. He’ll do anything to regain his freedom, including agree to a bargain with a beautiful, cunning warrior with secrets of her own. Gwendolyn Fernandez volunteered to defend Earth from the Hive menace. For four years, she was a valued member of Coalition ReCon, until the Hive caught up with her, and a strange Nexus creature took special interest in her integration. Gwen escaped with super-human strength and a will to live that cannot be broken, until the governor of the Colony demands she choose a mate.

    The Rebel and the Rogue

Zenos, from the Astra Legion of Rogue 5, is on a mission to find an antidote to the deadly venom flowing through his body. Without the antidote, one bite during mating will kill a hybrid Forsian’s chosen female. Zenos must acquire the serum at any cost, for like his Atlan cousins, his mating instinct will eventually consume him. The last thing he needs is a distraction, but one look at the defiant female bounty hunter and he can’t deny his body what she’s offering. Ivy Birkeland’s entire ReCon unit was annihilated as a result of Quell, a mind-altering drug the pirates of Rogue 5 are known to distribute. A rebel to her core, her heart still broke when she was forced to walk away from her life as a Coalition fighter. Now she hunts a bounty that will allow her to catch the criminals selling Quell and avenge her dead friends.

    Rogue Enforcer

Cormac of Styx Legion knows his value to his people. He is an enforcer, a weapon to be wielded. Nothing more. He is brutal, efficient and utterly alone. When he receives a coded message claiming he has been matched with an Interstellar Bride, he knows the match must be a terrible miscalculation. When his bride turns out to be a young, innocent human, there is nothing he can do but protect her until the error can be corrected. Rogue 5 is no place for a naïve female, especially one as beautiful, sensitive and completely WRONG for him as Abigail Gregg.

Rose Lerner’s books are without fail somewhere in the great to phenomenal range for me. I can’t remember where exactly any given one falls, but if it’s not a must read it’s still a highly recommended.

  2. Diane says:

I’ll second that recommendation for Rose Lerner. Her Lively St. Lemeston is a 4-book box set for just under $10 and includes True Pretenses.

I’ve read a few Grace Goodwin books and, unless she’s changed her writing from waaaa..aaay too much spanking and humiliation from alpha azhats, she’s a writer I tend to avoid. She usually has a freebie available, so you might want to try that out first. Which is disappointing because she writes tropes that I really enjoy.

  3. Marci says:

  5. Vasha says:

Thirding Rose Lerner love. It would be a good idea to read the first book in the Lively St. Lemeston series, Sweet Disorder, before True Pretenses because, although the 2nd book is in most respects stand-alone, a very relevant political situation is set up in the first book. And why wouldn’t you read Sweet Disorder? It’s phenomenal as kkw said.

  6. flchen1 says:

    Also:
Captivated by Danielle Pays is free
Knight Before Christmas by Kat Mizera is $.99

The Soldier’s Scoundrel by Cat Sebastian is $1.99 on Amazon US. Believe it’s been positively reviewed on SBTB before

  9. marybelle says:

I’ve been reading Grace Goodwin’s Interstellar Bride’s series here and there. Some of them I love, but the earlier ones are pretty old school and, as a previous commenter said, there’s lots of humiliation and spanking by alpha males that was like…really? I haven’t read them all, but later on she eases up on that aspect of it. I’ve only read a couple of the earlier ones and did not love because of that, but some of the later ones I really enjoyed. They’re all pretty much the same, not a lot of depth to the characters, but they move fast and you know what to expect, so if you need some easily digestible fluff, it’s a great series.

  10. Maureen says:

@Marci-Thank you for the heads up on the third volume of Lore Olympus. I have the first two hardcovers, and they are very beautiful books!

  11. Diane says:

Thanks marybelle for the update. I’ll have to try one of Goodwin’s more recent stories… cause I do love the ‘…space aliens need more women’.
