In the end, this story is overwhelmingly about saying yes to good things put directly in your path. If all you want to do is wrap yourself up in a Christmas love story with two adults just admirably adulting all the way through the book, I say grab a Christmas sweater and a hot chocolate, and get ready to have a stranger ask you why you look so happy reading the book you have in your hand!

The Bennet Women by Eden Appiah-Kubi is $1.99 at Amazon! I mentioned this one on a previous edition of Book Beat. For anyone who loves an Austen-inspired novel, this might be worth checking out.

Smartasses is 99c! This is a contemporary romance anthology with a focus on sexy nerds. There are a dozen stories, some of which have been previously published. However, a dollar for a dozen short romances from some recognizable names isn’t too bad. According to Goodreads, the anthology is a little less than 1000 pages.

Amanda Quick’s Ravished is on sale for $1.99 (Amazon, Kobo, & Apple). This is my favorite Quick and features an amateur fossil hunter and a grumpy (and scarred) Viscount.
Royal Holiday is delightful; Grabbing Bennet Women and Smartasses (hah!).
Bennet Women was a pretty solid modern retelling, but it felt stilted to me? Every single character made perfect, thoughtful choices all the time. I appreciate thoughtfulness and the plotting, but it felt like a bit of a slog to me.
The Jane story line was my favorite part – it was nice to read a story arc about a trans woman that was about the regular ups and downs of life instead of centering transphobia all the time.
