RECOMMENDED: The Heiress Gets a Duke by Harper St. George is $1.99! Yes, yes, the names have already been debated in the comments of previous sales and the book review. I’m not much of a historical romance reader these days, but this one blew me away:
Jana Goes Wild by Farah Heron is $3.99! This is Heron’s latest and was recommended on Hide Your Wallet. I remember Sarah being curious about the setting. Have any of you read this one?
It’s time for part two of our Romantic Times Rewind visit to the May 2014 issue, where we take a tour of the ads and features inside! As I said two weeks ago, I wasn’t sure what having the images inside the podcast entry would do so I’m doing a separate post for each one. PICTURES AHOY Y’ALL. You can also find all the RTRW content at our category page for Romantic Times Rewind. And, … Continue reading Romantic Times Rewind: May 2014 Ads and Features→
For Her Consideration by Amy Spalding is $3.99! I remember mentioning this one in my Book Depository post because the UK cover is so gorgeous and this one feels more nondescript. While we don’t have an official review, I remember Shana liking this one during Slack discussions.
Ultimately this mystery is weak on the actual mystery front. However, the description of an entertainer’s life in Soho and a passenger’s life on the Queen Mary is fascinating, and while Lena is an interesting person who always seems to be either doing or listening to or watching interesting things. On those levels, I really liked this book, and recommend it for fans of that time period.
The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher is $1.99! I’ve enjoyed Kingfisher’s first horror novel, The Twisted Ones. If you want something spooky but is light on graphic or sexual violence, it’s worth a try. I haven’t checked out this one just yet, though it is on my radar.
When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting is $1.99! This is a friends to lovers romance with two BFFs who are roommates. I thought this one was just okay, though felt the main characters annoyed me more than usual. Have you read this one?
RECOMMENDED: My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and Amazon just dropped their movie adaptation on Prime Video. Carrie reviewed this and gave it a B+:
This particular horror story is a love letter to the 1980s and to the power of friendship between women. The ending is very awesome. But also very gross, so be prepared.
Starry-Eyed Love by Helena Hunting is $1.99! This is book two in the Spark House series, which features a group of friends who run like an events space. I feel like Hunting is a hit or mess author. What do you think?
In the end, this story is overwhelmingly about saying yes to good things put directly in your path. If all you want to do is wrap yourself up in a Christmas love story with two adults just admirably adulting all the way through the book, I say grab a Christmas sweater and a hot chocolate, and get ready to have a stranger ask you why you look so happy reading the book you have in your hand!
