  • Lizzie and Dante

Lizzie and Dante by Mary Bly

Lizzie and Dante by Mary Bly is $2.99! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is Eloisa James’s pen name. This is more women’s fiction than a contemporary romance. It’s also a Kindle Daily Deal.

The insightful, audacious, and deeply romantic story of a woman whose life turns upside down after she meets an enigmatic chef on vacation in Italy–perfect for fans of Beautiful Ruins or Under the Tuscan Sun .

On the heels of a difficult break-up and a devastating diagnosis, Shakespearian scholar Lizzie Delford decides to take one last lavish vacation on Elba, the sun-kissed island off the Italian coast, with her best friend and his movie-star boyfriend. Once settled into a luxurious seaside resort, Lizzie has to make big decisions about her future, and she needs the one thing she may be running out of: time.

She leaves the yacht-owners and celebrities behind and sneaks off to the public beach, where she meets a sardonic chef named Dante, his battered dog Lily, and his wry daughter Etta, a twelve-year-old desperate for a mother. While Dante shows Lizzie the island’s secrets, and Etta dazzles with her irreverent humor, Lizzie is confronted with a dilemma. Is it right to fall in love if time is short? Is it better to find a mother briefly, or to have no mother at all? And the most difficult question of all: What if falling in love inevitably leads to broken hearts?

A transporting, all-consuming story about love, courage, and Italian wine, Lizzie & Dante demands to know how far we should travel to find a future worth fighting for.

  • The Seduction of Lady Phoebe

The Seduction of Lady Phoebe by Ella Quinn

The Seduction of Lady Phoebe by Ella Quinn is 99c! This is the first book in the Marriage Game series and a re-release with a new cover. Many of the books are available at a discount. Readers seem divided on the heroine. Many found her unconventional and loved it! However, others never really connected with her or understood her actions.

Polite society has its rules for marriage. But for Ella Quinn’s eligible bachelors, their brides will show them that rules are for the faint of heart…

Phoebe Stanhope is not a typical Lady. As feisty as she is quick witted, no one can catch her, especially when she is driving her dashing phaeton with its perfectly matched horses. And unlike her peers, experience has guarded her against a growing list of would-be suitors. But when she encounters Marcus Finley, what she fears most burns deep within his blue-eyed gaze…

For Lord Marcus, the spark of recognition is but a moment in the love he has held these many years. Now that he’s returned to England, all the happiness he desires rests on Lady Phoebe never finding out that he was the one who turned her heart so cold and distant. He must work fast to gain the advantage—to convince her what she wants is exactly what she denies—but in order to seduce her into his arms, he must be willing to give up more than he can control…

  • Hard Sell

    Hard Sell by Hudson Lin

Hard Sell by Hudson Lin is $1.99! This is an M/M best friend’s brother romance. I’ve heard this one is pretty dark with some of the content. Have you read this one?

    One night wasn’t enough.

Danny Yip walks into every boardroom with a plan. His plan for struggling tech company WesTec is to acquire it, shut it down, and squeeze the last remaining revenue out of it for his Jade Harbour Capital portfolio. But he didn’t expect his best friend’s younger brother—the hottest one-night stand he ever had—to be there.

Tobin Lok has always thought the world of Danny. He’s funny, warm, attractive—and totally out of Tobin’s league. Now, pitted against Danny at work, Tobin might finally get a chance to prove he’s more than just Wei’s little brother.

It takes a lot to get under Danny’s skin, but Tobin is all grown up in a way Danny can’t ignore. Now, with a promising patent on the line and the stakes higher than ever, all he can think about is getting Tobin back into his bed—and into his life for good.

If only explaining their relationship to Wei could be so easy…

  • The Magpie Lord

The Magpie Lord by K.J. Charles

RECOMMENDED: The Magpie Lord by K.J. Charles is FREE! This is the first book in The Charm of Magpies series. This is a gay historical romance with magical elements. Carrie read this one and gave it an A-:

Be warned that while all the books contain body horror, the third is incredibly disturbing.  Great series, great romance, great horror, and great Victorian ambiance – what’s not to love?

A lord in danger. A magician in turmoil. A snowball in hell.

Exiled to China for twenty years, Lucien Vaudrey never planned to return to England. But with the mysterious deaths of his father and brother, it seems the new Lord Crane has inherited an earldom. He’s also inherited his family’s enemies. He needs magical assistance, fast. He doesn’t expect it to turn up angry.

Magician Stephen Day has good reason to hate Crane’s family. Unfortunately, it’s his job to deal with supernatural threats. Besides, the earl is unlike any aristocrat he’s ever met, with the tattoos, the attitude…and the way Crane seems determined to get him into bed. That’s definitely unusual.

Soon Stephen is falling hard for the worst possible man, at the worst possible time. But Crane’s dangerous appeal isn’t the only thing rendering Stephen powerless. Evil pervades the house, a web of plots is closing round Crane, and if Stephen can’t find a way through it—they’re both going to die.

Hi Amanda, I think you have it backwards – her real name is Mary Bly, and her pen name is Eloisa James.

  2. chacha1 says:

I’ve read the Magpie Lord trilogy four times. Love, love, love these books – and I usually don’t go for horror-ish supernatural.

Thrilled to see ‘Hard Sell’ here – that’s been on my wishlist. 🙂 Mine now!

The Frangipani Tree Mystery, the first book in the Crown Colony series by Ovidia Yu is currently $.99 for kindle. Sarah mentioned it this week as one of the series she enjoys and I’m really looking forward to starting it. It looks like the other books are all about $4 regular price.

  5. Carrie G says:

I don’t do horror, but even with the caveats, I love The Charm of Magpie series. I’ve listened to them on audio twice now.

  6. Kris Bock says:

I used to claim I don’t read horror, but eventually I had to admit that I do – when KJ Charles writes it. (I would call The Magpie Lord series paranormal romantic suspense with some horror elements, but I like her true horror as well.)

  7. Qualisign says:

Read LIZZIE & DANTE last night. Wow. Not for the faint of heart, but for those of us dealing with incurable cancer [and imminent death] of one’s beloved partner, this was an incredibly clear-sighted view of life and love, both new and old. I think this is my favorite of Mary Bly’s/Eloisa James’ books. Pieces of her entire world are in it including [academic] critiques of ROMEO and JULIET, discussions of living with death, and choosing to live and love as long as one can. Mortality is a bitch, but what a wonderful bitch!

  8. Todd says:

The Magpie Lord is the book that got me into reading K.J. Charles. Now, just about anything she writes goes on my Kindle ASAP.
