Links: Stickers, Ducks, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hey there! Did you know it’s Wednesday?

This weekly afternoon post contains a handful of links to distract you, put a smile on your face, or whatever other positive emotion you’d want to insert here.

I know the news is bleak right now, but don’t forget to unplug and take a moment to yourself before getting back to dismantling the patriarchy.

Susan shared this with us at SBTB HQ. Enjoy this of a family of ducks making their way through a university library.

I am completely on board for turning the Ted Lasso cast into the new cast of Lord of the Rings. Big thanks to this Twitter thread.

Revolution Art Shop has a feminist collection where the proceeds go to Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas. There are shirts, flags, stickers, and more. I’d personally love to find more details on the donation process, rather than just a statement at the stop of the website.

Have you ever wondered what the Jurassic Park theme song would sound like if it were played on rubber chickens? Well wonder no more!

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

I’m not ashamed to admit that the reappearance of Steve from Blues Clues made me cry and I started watching that freaking show in college (while chilling with a baby cousin who is now a big grown man). Sniff.

Also, maybe I already shared this here, but when I need a “chin up, you’re did okay” pep talk,I like to listen to this snippet from Amber Ruffin’s show. If I repeat myself, it’s only b/c I’ve found it so helpful.

  2. Jill Q. says:

Ah, Huffington Post has the whole Steve/Blues Clues video which is so much better! Grr, should have checked my double post.

If anyone hasn’t seen it yet, Oscar Isaac caused a near meltdown of the internet with his smoldering at long time friend and costar Jessica Chastain. I’d now love to see them star in a romantic suspense like Body Heat or The Big Easy. He’s also made me seriously reconsider my mental casting for Act Like It.

Awww Steve is the best, thank you Jill Q for sharing! I watched the show as a new parent with my kid, can only imagine how poignant this is for the kids who watched and are now all grown up. Steve is a gem of a human being. Blessings be upon his house for sending out this wholesome message.

  5. Sid says:

SusanH: That video needs to come with a “DANGER: May Cause Spontaneous Pregnancy” warning. And I’m also giving a massive YES PLEASE!!!! to that casting choice.

Also just wanted to leave a Thank You!!! for these Wednesday links. They are consistently a refreshing break in my week 🙂

  6. Yota Armai says:

@SusanH. I was having a really shit week, but I didn’t know I needed Oscar Isaac smoldering at Jessica Chastain to cheer me up. Thank you. This link is a blessing to us all.

  7. Escapeologist says:

Adorable duck family is adorable. And now I have the Duck Song stuck in my head. “Then he waddled away, waddle waddle”
Click at your own peril, it’s extremely catchy https://youtu.be/MtN1YnoL46Q

  8. Todd says:

for the Jurassic Park theme version … HOW do you tune a rubber chicken? (inquiring minds want to know … and now I’m earwormed with that theme)

  9. Linda says:

I’ve been a loyal follower of this website for years and now I’m going to brag that my husband did that Ted Lasso/LOTR mashup! ❤️

  10. JenM says:

@Linda, my thanks to your hubs! We just recently got HBO Max and binged on the wonder that is Ted Lasso so it’s all pretty fresh in my mind. Also thanks to Amanda for your great links posts. I stay away from all social media, so I count on this column every week to bring things like this to my attention.

  11. Sue says:

I know this has come up for a lot of folks (it certainly did for me last year), so I thought I’d share.

@ SusanH: This article from the New York Times goes a long way to explaining the relationship between Isaac and Chastain and how they come by their smoldering naturally.
