  • A Cowboy to Remember

A Cowboy to Remember by Rebekah Weatherspoon

A Cowboy to Remember by Rebekah Weatherspoon is 99c! Shana reviewed this one and gave it a B:

A Cowboy to Remember was an enjoyable read, but left me with the type of disappointment that only happens when your expectations are very high. Still, this is a low angst, and frequently funny romance that allows readers to get their cowboy fix without traveling to a red state.

In this brand-new series from award-winning author Rebekah Weatherspoon, a charming cowboy and his sleeping beauty find their modern-day happily ever after . . .

With a headline spot on a hit morning show and truly mouth-watering culinary skills, chef Evie Buchanan is perched on the edge of stardom. But at an industry party, a fall lands Evie in the hospital—with no memory of who she is. Scrambling to help, Evie’s assistant contacts the only “family” Evie has left, close friends who run the luxury dude ranch in California where Evie grew up. Evie has no recollection of them—until former rodeo champion Zach Pleasant walks into her hospital room, and she realizes his handsome face has been haunting her dreams . . .

Zach hasn’t seen Evie in years—not since their families conducted a campaign to make sure their childhood friendship never turned into anything more. When the young cowboy refused to admit the feelings between them were real, Evie left California, making it clear she never wanted to see Zach again. Now he refuses to make the same mistake twice. Starting fresh is a risk when they have a history she can’t recall, but Zach can’t bear to let go of her now. Can he awaken the sleeping beauty inside her who might still love him?

  • The Flatshare

    The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary

RECOMMENDThe Flatshare by Beth O’Leary is $2.99 and part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals! We had a great guest review of this one and Lisa the Librarian gave it an A-:

It was romantic, sweet, hot, funny, and original – everything I’m looking for in a romance. I can definitely see myself rereading this in the not-too-distant future.

Tiffy and Leon share an apartment. Tiffy and Leon have never met.

After a bad breakup, Tiffy Moore needs a place to live. Fast. And cheap. But the apartments in her budget have her wondering if astonishingly colored mold on the walls counts as art.

Desperation makes her open minded, so she answers an ad for a flatshare. Leon, a night shift worker, will take the apartment during the day, and Tiffy can have it nights and weekends. He’ll only ever be there when she’s at the office. In fact, they’ll never even have to meet.

Tiffy and Leon start writing each other notes – first about what day is garbage day, and politely establishing what leftovers are up for grabs, and the evergreen question of whether the toilet seat should stay up or down. Even though they are opposites, they soon become friends. And then maybe more.

But falling in love with your roommate is probably a terrible idea…especially if you’ve never met.

What if your roommate is your soul mate? A joyful, quirky romantic comedy, Beth O’Leary’s The Flatshare is a feel-good novel about finding love in the most unexpected of ways.

  • Shadow and Ice

Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter

Shadow and Ice by Gena Showalter is $2.99! This is the first book in the paranormal romance series, Gods of War. I’m curious about this new series, but Showalter’s books have been misses for me, mainly because of the domineering alpha heroes. Are you a Showalter fan?

Knox of Iviland, the most ruthless warrior in All War history, has spent his life fighting others to the death, winning new realms for his king. Now the stakes are higher than ever. If he prevails in the battle for Earth, his slave bands will be removed. Victory is his sole focus…until he meets her.

On an arctic getaway with her foster sister, street tough but vulnerable Vale London is shocked to stumble upon a cave filled with ancient gods waging epic combat. When she is inadvertently drawn into their war, she is forced to team up with an unlikely ally—the sexy god who makes her burn with desire.

Though Vale is his enemy, Knox is consumed with lust and a fierce need to protect her. But only one combatant can triumph, and he will have to choose: live for freedom, or die for love.

  • I Believe in a Thing Called Love

I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo

I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo is $2.99! This is a contemporary YA romance with a heroine who turns to K-dramas to give her tips for love. Readers found this to be super cute, but some reviews mentioned not being on board for the heroine’s romance tactics.

Desi Lee knows how carburetors work. She learned CPR at the age of five. As a high school senior, she has never missed a day of school and has never had a B in her entire life. She’s for sure going to Stanford. But—she’s never had a boyfriend. In fact, she’s a disaster in romance, a clumsy, stammering humiliation-magnet whose botched attempts at flirting have become legendary with her friends. So when the hottest human specimen to have ever lived walks into her life one day, Desi decides to tackle her flirting failures with the same zest she’s applied to everything else in her life. She finds her answer in the Korean dramas her father has been obsessively watching for years—where the hapless heroine always seems to end up in the arms of her true love by episode ten. It’s a simple formula, and Desi is a quick study. Armed with her “K Drama Rules for True Love,” Desi goes after the moody, elusive artist Luca Drakos—and boat rescues, love triangles, and fake car crashes ensue. But when the fun and games turn to true feels, Desi finds out that real love is about way more than just drama.

  1. Ren Benton says:

WONDERLAND by Zoje Stage may be $2.99 (dropped at Amazon and B&N but full price at Kobo at the time I checked; don’t know if the sale price is fresh or stale). Sold to me as “like THE SHINING but on a farm” if you’re into spooky-locale horror.

  2. Carrie G says:

A Duke in the Night by Kelly Bowen is 99 cents on Amazon. I’ve read good reviews about her books but haven’t read one, so I’m giving this a try.

  3. Lisa F says:

Some excellent choices here – everyone should own The Flatshare and A Cowboy to Remember! Snagged I Believe In a Thing Called Love while I could.

  4. Ellie says:

@Carrie G- I normally really like Kelly Bowen, and was really excited to find this one on sale today. However, the hero is such a raging asshole that I have just quit reading it. He’s rude, chauvinistic, patronizing, and dismissive to the heroine, his sister, and his employees, both male and female. Oh, and did I mention manipulative and conniving? I can’t tell you the last time I quit reading a book because of such an intense dislike for a character, but I wanted to quit reading it after the first chapter. I stuck it out until halfway through chapter 3. I know I’ve read heroes who are douchey yet somehow likeable, but this one can gtfo.

  5. Ellie says:

Now starting on the other sale book from my wishlist today, Who’s That Earl by Susanna Craig . Hopefully I will fare better with it.
