  • Paladin’s Grace

    Paladin’s Grace by T. Kingfisher

RECOMMENDED: Paladin’s Grace by T. Kingfisher is $1.99 at Amazon! AJ loved this one and gave it an A:

All of that is to say: if you stare at walls a lot right now and you can’t really read because everything is just too much all the time? You’re not alone. I get you. And if you want to try a book that gets it too, and will remind you that there can be light at the end of this god-awful tunnel, maybe try this one.

Stephen’s god died on the longest day of the year…

Three years later, Stephen is a broken paladin, living only for the chance to be useful before he dies. But all that changes when he encounters a fugitive named Grace in an alley and witnesses an assassination attempt gone wrong. Now the pair must navigate a web of treachery, beset on all sides by spies and poisoners, while a cryptic killer stalks one step behind…

From the Hugo and Nebula Award winning author of Swordheart and The Twisted Ones comes a saga of murder, magic, and love on the far side of despair.

  • All I Want

All I Want by Jill Shalvis

All I Want by Jill Shalvis is $1.99! This is the seventh book in the Animal Magnetism series and features a pilot heroine, who readers really seemed to love. There is a bit of suspense in the romance, but other readers felt it lacked tension. All I Want has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

Pilot-for-hire Zoe Stone is happy to call Sunshine, Idaho, her home base. But her quiet life is thrown for a loop when her brother’s friend Parker comes to stay with her for a week. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife special agent is a handsome flirt with a gift for getting under her skin. And the situation only escalates when Parker hires her to fly him around the area while he collects evidence on a suspected smuggler.

Now she has to live and work with the guy. But when they’re in the air, she sees another side of him. He’s driven, focused, and sharp. And while he enjoys giving commentary on her blind dates, she quickly realizes with a shock that it’s Parker who gets her engines going…

  • Grigori

    Grigori by Lauren Smith

Grigori by Lauren Smith is $1.99 and part of today’s Kindle Daily Deals! This is a paranormal romance with dragons! I really like the cover of this one. The mythology of the dragons and their mates has something to do with the heroines being virgins. If you tend to avoid fate mates/virginity tropes, you may want to skip this one!

He’s one of the last of a powerful but vanishing bloodline …
Grigori Barinov is the eldest in an ancient line of dragon shifters and the guardian of his family’s lands and fortune. Sworn to protect their history and magic, he won’t rest until he neutralizes any threat to their existence. When he discovers an ancient manuscript that exposes his family and their dragon lineage has fallen into a mortal woman’s hands, he knows he must get the book back by any means necessary. If that means seducing a nosy American woman with an intoxicating scent, he is more than willing to carry her off to his palatial home deep in the heart of Russia.

She’s the one woman who could expose him to the world…
Madelyn Haynes has never fit in. As an adopted child she grew up in a loving home but never felt as though she belonged. Plagued by mysterious dreams she’s had of a silver scaled beast ever since she was a little girl, she is convinced dragons are real. While in Russia working on her PhD in mythology in order to escape the ridicule from fellow professors, she unexpectedly crosses paths with the sexy and dominating Grigori, and after just one night with the man whose eyes seem to burn, she starts to change inside. Isolated in the Russian wilderness Grigori calls home, Madelyn can’t help but fall under his sensual spell, yet something deep inside her calls out that she can’t trust him. She has to show the world dragons are real to salvage academic reputation, even if it means costing her the heart of the dragon she’s falling in love with.

  • The MacKade Brothers Collection

The MacKade Brothers Collection by Nora Roberts

The MacKade Brothers Collection by Nora Roberts is $3.99! I believe this is the entire series. It’s four books and they were originally released in the early/mid 90s. Not sure how dated they would feel reading them today, but I have a feeling a lot of readers might grab this for the nostalgia.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts presents a collection of all four books from the classic MacKade brother’s series.

    THE RETURN OF RAFE MACKADE

Bad boy Rafe MacKade has finally come home. Cleaned up and successful now—though still dangerously good-looking—Rafe’s return sets tongues wagging. With the help of Regan Jones, who owns the local antique shop, he is restoring the old Barlow house into an inn. Though Regan claims to not want to get involved with a rebel, Rafe’s pretty sure that her reaction to their sizzling kisses suggests otherwise.

    THE PRIDE OF JARED MACKADE

Jared MacKade can’t resist a challenge. So when his work as an attorney brings him up against Savannah Morningstar, her defenses aren’t nearly enough to scare him off. While Savanah is understandably reluctant to let another man into her and her son’s life, Jared can’t help but fall for the sinfully sexy woman. And the more he gets to know her, the more determined he is to stand by her always.

    THE HEART OF DEVIN MACKADE

Sheriff Devin MacKade’s destiny is to serve and protect—and a future he always thought would include Cassie Connor. She’s the only woman he has ever loved, but he’d never worked up the nerve to tell her. When Cassie married the wrong man, Devin did the honorable thing and kept his feelings to himself. Now that Cassie’s divorced, Devin can finally follow his heart. Question is, can Cassie?

    THE FALL OF DEVIN MACKADE

Shane MacKade is used to getting what he wants, especially when it comes to women. He’s shocked when he is rebuffed by the brilliant Dr. Rebecca Knight. The alluring academic is conducting a research experiment at his family’s ancestral farm, and her work has left her too busy to make any time for romance. But Rebecca can’t help but succumb to the MacKade charm…

  1. A Lisa says:

Paladin’s Grace is seriously good. It is also very funny and for all you (us) knitters out there the hero is a non-ironic knitter!

  2. Ren Benton says:

Two YA dark fantasies are $2.99 each: EIGHT WILL FALL by Sarah Harian (criminals sent to fight evil or die trying) and BEYOND THE BLACK DOOR by A.M. Strickland (dreamwalking, court intrigue, and reported ace rep).

  3. Isua says:

The Ursula Vernon is the fastest I have ever one-clicked anything. Now I know what I’m doing this weekend!

  4. Isua says:

    Kingfisher, I mean. 🙂

  5. Kareni says:

I read Paladin’s Grace recently and it was an enjoyable book.

  6. The Other AJ says:

2 out of 2 AJs agree, Paladin’s Grace is a great book. I love T. Kingfisher. Finally got my spouse hooked on her, too, but I don’t think they’ve read Paladin’s Grace yet so I’ll tell them about the sale.

  7. Shawna says:

Swordheart by Kingfisher is 1.99, so I one-clicked the heck out of both!

  8. Ruth L says:

Oooh, the McKades! Yes, they were Silhoutte Special Editions in the ’90s. As I remember, they shouldn’t be dated, as Nora’s characters were ahead of her time (trigger warning: one of the books the heroine has been abused). This was one of my favorite series. The characters/relationships are similar to the Chesapeake Bay series, which came out a couple of years later. I always thought that perhaps they were the seeds of the longer format series.

I do miss Nora’s pure romances (not romantic suspense). I think she peaked with the Bride Quartet.

  9. Kareni says:

I see that T. Kingfisher’s Clockwork Boys (Clocktaur War Book 1) is also $1.99.

  10. Darlynne says:

More T. Kingfisher means a good day. Also, Amazon UK readers, RAYBEARER by Jordan Ifueko is GPB .99 today. This West African fantasy just came out in August so this is rather surprising. It sounds great.

  11. Penny says:

I’ve been meaning to pick up Paladin’s Grace ever since I read the excellent review… SBTB I love you.

  12. Deet says:

Space Opera by Catherynne M Valente (rated an A- here by Carrie) is $1.99 on Amazon today! I have been waaaiiiting so long for this price to drop. Yay!!!

  13. Sabrina says:

Adding another enthusiastic recommendation for all the T. Kingfisher books on sale right now. They are sweet and imaginative and funny and you should either buy them or check them out from the library right now. But don’t just take my word for it, check out their high Goodreads ratings (4.37 for Paladin’s Grace!).

  14. Kris Bock says:

I’ve read those Nora Roberts within the last five years and I think they’re fine. The heroes are more along the lines of gentle alphas- definitely manly men, but gentle and respectful of the heroines.
