  • Unmask Me If You Can

Unmask Me If You Can by Shana Galen

Unmask Me If You Can by Shana Galen is $2.99 at Amazon! I’m unsure if this is an expiring deal or one that will eventually be price-matched. This is part of the Survivors series; we featured another book in this series on sale a few weeks ago. Maybe you all will be able to amass the whole set eventually.

    This masked lord…
Lord Jasper, younger son of a duke, suffered horrible burns fighting in the Napoleonic Wars. He wears a mask to hide his face from the stares and screams and finds comfort in the shadows. Jasper is an exceptional bounty hunter, so when a woman summons him to her deathbed and asks him to find her runaway daughter before she passes away, he doesn’t refuse. Jasper is close to his quarry when he’s knifed by an assailant. Imagine his surprise when he regains consciousness in the arms of the woman he seeks. Except she’s not at all what he expected.

Is not the only one with scars.
On a remote cliff on the sea, Olivia Carlisle calls her five-year-old son in from an approaching storm. But the little boy is more interested in the man he’s found on the trail to their hidden cottage. Olivia fears men and wants nothing more than to leave the injured man where she found him. But his knife wound is severe, and with the approaching storm, she knows leaving him will condemn him to death. As Jasper begins to heal, Olivia acknowledges her attraction to him, even though such emotions terrify her almost as much as returning to London. Jasper must convince her that her only chance at safety is to challenge the man who pursues her. They must travel into the lion’s den—he to face his vulnerability and she to face her worst fears.

  • Reaper’s Fall

    Reaper’s Fall by Joanna Wylde

Reaper’s Fall by Joanna Wylde is $1.99! This contemporary romance is part of the Reapers MC series; I know that motorcycle clubs in romance aren’t for everyone. The hero appears in previous books, so you may be missing some background if you jumped in here, but it’s serviceable as a standalone.

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

  • No Man Can Tame

No Man Can Tame by Miranda Honfleur

No Man Can Tame by Miranda Honfleur is 99c at Amazon! This fantasy romance is bursting with Amanda catnip; I’m such a sucker for fae in romance. The setup also reminds me of Radiance by Grace Draven, which I very much enjoyed. Honfleur’s fantasy romances have been recommended in the comments, though I have yet to try them.

A human princess. A dark-elf prince. A kiss of fire and powder.

After a failed courtship in an ally kingdom, twenty-one-year-old Princess Alessandra returns home to a land torn apart by mutual hatred between the humans and the dark-elves. The “Beast Princess,” as Aless is known by courtiers, confidently sets her mind to ways of making peace, but her father has already decided for her: she is to marry one of the mysterious and monstrous dark-elves to forge a treaty, and go on a Royal Progress across the kingdom to flaunt their harmonious union. While she intends to preserve the peace, the Beast Princess has plans of her own.

Prince Veron has been raised knowing his life is not his own, but to be bargained away by his mother, the queen of Nozva Rozkveta, to strengthen the dark-elf queendom. When his mother tells him he is to marry a self-absorbed, vile human, he is determined to do his duty regardless of his personal feelings. After arriving at the human capital, he finds the “Beast Princess” rebellious and untamed—and not to be trusted.

Aless and Veron face opposition at every turn, with humans and dark-elves alike opposing the union violently, as well as their own feelings of dissonance toward each other. Can two people from cultures that despise one another fall in love? Can a marriage between them bond two opposing worlds together, or will it tear them apart for good?

If you like the fantasy and politics of Danielle L. Jensen’s Malediction Trilogy and the romance of Elizabeth Vaughan’s Chronicles of the Warlands, No Man Can Tame will lure you into its world and not let you go.

Buy No Man Can Tame today, and journey into a medieval world of magic and Immortals, masquerades and games, love and blood, and a tale as old as time..

    Currently free on Amazon (DE):
The Neanderthal Box Set by Penny Reid
    and
Mindtouch (The Dreamhealers Book 1) by M.C.A. Hogarth
AFAIK this is an ACE romance.

  2. Ariadna says:

Also, Off Campus, the first book in Amy Jo Cousin’s Bend of Break series, is currently free on Kindle. This is a 314-page New Adult M/M book.

  3. Lisa F says:

I really loved the Galen. REALLY really!

  4. MaryK says:

I have strong feelings about No Man Can Tame and have been wanting to let them out so this is timely. I liked the book very much right up until I DNF’d it at about 75%. The heroine was about to do something that would hurt the hero and their relationship, and the reader was supposed to see this as a hard but necessary thing because the heroine is independent and smart and blah, blah. I wasn’t just mad at the heroine but also at the author because the whole plot was engineered for this to happen. The hero was hurt by this action as a child and here the heroine is doing it to him again. I don’t like that.

I read another book recently with a similar plot point and comparing them helped me identify why I don’t like it. When the protagonist is part of a team and decides to defy the team and go out on their own to do something dangerous, I don’t see it as brave and self-sacrificing but as a betrayal of the team and what’s supposed to be a victorious ending leaves me feeling vaguely sad and disgruntled.

tl;dr – No Man Can Tame would’ve been really good if the author hadn’t used emotional manipulation for dramatic effect. I’m not sure I want to try other books by her in case it’s a habit.

*When I typed habit, autocorrect offered to change it to HaBO.

  6. Gloriamarie Amalfitano says:

No Man Can Tame is a wonderful book

  7. DiscoDollyDeb says:

@MaryK: I’ve typed the phrase “stupid autocorrect” (for good reason) so often that when I type “stupid,” predictive text immediately suggests “autocorrect.”

  8. Gloriamarie Amalfitano says:

@DiscoDollyDeb, I find autocorrect unnerving. I type “nun” and it is replaced with “gun.” O “prayer” is replaced with “player.” Gee whiz.

  9. Katie Lynn says:

Wheels Up by Annabeth Albert is on sale for $1.99 today. MM with two military heroes. I really enjoy this series, but this one wasn’t particularly a standout for me. (That doesn’t mean it wasn’t good, but Annabeth is a favorite author of mine so it’s tough picking a favorite).
