Historical Romances on Sale!

  • Bound to Be a Groom

Bound to Be a Groom by Megan Mulry

Bound to Be a Groom by Megan Mulry is $2.99! It’s $1.49 at All Romance. This is a historical erotic romance, with F/F, M/M, M/F, and F/F/M/M action. Yep. Something for everyone, though I definitely suggest reading the jacket copy so you can see the division of romance and who’s into whom. There is also a dominant woman paired with a male submissive. I’m also honestly really tempted to buy this for myself. Readers definitely mentioned that the book skewed more toward sex than plot.

Sometimes our wildest dreams come true.

In the tumultuous summer of 1808, Spain and England are close to war and four young lovers are close to ecstasy.

To carve out an independent life with the woman she loves, ANNA knows she must leave her quiet Spanish convent to become a courtesan. To gain experience, she sets her sights on . . .

SEBASTIAN, whose powerful, aristocratic confidence suits Anna’s mercenary goals. But his arrogance masks a craving for submission that Anna instinctively satisfies. Sebastian soon begs for her hand in marriage, even if it means sharing her with . . .

PIA, who trusts Anna completely—with her body and her future—until she learns of Anna’s hasty marriage. Pia questions their commitment to each other as they leave for London to meet . . .

FARLEIGH, the seemingly feckless duke who thinks he’s over Sebastian, the potent Spanish soldier he bedded two years ago.

What begins as a series of erotic escapades soon evolves into a deep, unbreakable bond. Two men and two women who yearn to explore are about to make their wildest dreams come true.

  • What to Do with a Duke

What to Do with a Duke by Sally Mackenzie

What to Do with a Duke by Sally MacKenzie is $1.99! This book was previously mentioned on a podcast with Kensington editor, Esi Sogah who had this to say:

I edited it in a day because I couldn’t stop reading it.  I was supposed to be doing other stuff that day that didn’t get done. There’s definitely high jinks and people sort of, like, scheming behind the scenes but in really sort of delightful ways, and there’re gossipy old biddies, and the heroine in this book has ten siblings, which is why she wants to move into the Spinster House.

Welcome to the charming, fatefully named village of Loves Bridge, where a woman destined for spinsterhood can live a life of her own choosing—or fall unexpectedly, madly in love…

Miss Isabelle Catherine Hutting would rather be lounging in the library than circling the ballroom in search of a husband any day. So when Cat hears that the town’s infamous Spinster House is open for a new resident, she jumps at the chance to put all this marriage business behind her. But first she must make arrangements with her prospective landlord, Marcus, the Duke of Hart—the most handsome man she’s ever seen, and the only man who’s ever impressed her in the least…

With her wit, independent spirit, and not least of all her beauty, Marcus can’t help but be stirred by Cat. It’s terribly unfortunate he’s not looking to marry, given the centuries-old curse that left his family with the Spinster House to begin with. No duke shall live to see his heir’s birth. But is there a chance the curse could be broken—in true fairy-tale fashion—by an act of true love? The race to Happily Ever After is about to begin…

  • Trifling Favors

    Trifling Favors by Heather Hiestand

Trifling Favors by Heather Hiestand is $1.99! This is workplace romance with suspense elements and a historical setting. Some readers loved the mystery, since it added more drama to the story. But some  felt the romance was a bit lacking.

The sweetest treat is a kiss…Greggory Redcake’s plate is full. Widowed young and left with two small children, the manager of the Kensington location of the illustrious tea shop is besieged on all sides between the bakery and family matters. If only his remarkably efficient shop assistant, Betsy Popham, could manage his home life, too! But Greggory can’t linger on thoughts of Betsy’s fetching smile when a dead body is discovered in the bakery…

Betsy has no time for romance, not even with the delectable Mr. Redcake, whose kisses are all too unforgettable. Haunted by a specter from her family’s past, Betsy is terrified that the man blackmailing her has turned to deadly violence. Yet the only way to save her position–and possibly her life–is to accept Greggory’s help as their delicious attraction sweetens into the tantalizing promise of true love…

  • To Lure a Proper Lady

To Lure a Proper Lady by Ashlyn Macnamara

To Lure a Proper Lady by Ashlyn Macnamara is 99c! Redheadedgirl picked this for March’s Hide Your Wallet, saying, “Proper lady needs Bow Street Runner to determine if her father, the duke, is being slowly murdered or not. Also, the booty on that cover is on point.”

However, some readers felt the plot and characters were a bit underdeveloped. Have you read this one?

In this steamy novel from Ashlyn Macnamara—“a born storyteller” (Jennifer McQuiston) who “brings all the elegance and romance of the Regency to life” (Tessa Dare)—a dutiful young lady tries to resist the charms of a rogue from the legendary Bow Street Runners.

When Lady Elizabeth Wilde and her sisters are summoned once again to their chronically anxious father’s deathbed, she’s shocked to find that his worries are at last justified. He’s terribly ill, and Lizzie suspects poison. But when she seeks help from the Bow Street Runners, her request is answered by a rough-hewn rogue known only as Dysart. Though his irreverent charm by turns shocks and captivates her, a man of Dysart’s background is an altogether inappropriate choice for a duke’s daughter—isn’t he?

Although Dysart has his reasons to disdain polite society, the promise of supplemental income from a noble’s coffers is too tempting to deny. But if Dysart means to apprehend the culprit who poisoned the duke, he’ll need to avoid any and all distractions—like the delicious swish of Lady Elizabeth’s hips. Yet as the investigation begins to unearth secrets he’d rather remain hidden, Dysart must decide at a moment’s notice whether to hold Elizabeth at arm’s length . . . or pull her dangerously close.

What a great collection and a couple of new authors for me.

  2. SusanE says:

Did anyone else look at the cover for that last book and immediately think of Beauty Like the Night by Liz Carlyle? The views are very similar!

  3. Kim S. says:

Proper ladies love to tap that ass!

Okay, but seriously, I needed a historical romance sale today. Thanks, as usual, for bringing it!

  4. Fi says:

While the booty is indeed on point, I cannot help but observe that tan yoga pants are not even the tiniest bit historically accurate!

  5. harthad says:

I’ve read Bound to Be a Groom, and yes, it’s all about the sex, held together by the thinnest wisp of a plot (which is fine, as long as you aren’t expecting something else). Lots of instalove, instalust, and insta-sexual-skills. I seem to recall a nekkid outdoor group grope near the end…er, as the climax…ok, I’ll stop now.

  6. LauraL says:

Bound to be a Groom was the first historical erotic romance I read. Didn’t know there was historical erotic romance until I starting reading blogs like SBTB. Anyhow, it may be a bit thin on plot, but I found the characters really compelling, like I have in other Megan Mulry books I’ve since read. I was happy all four found their HEA.

I liked Ashlyn MacNamara’s Eton Boys trilogy better, but To Lure a Proper Lady was a good read. Those booty shot covers always catch my eye when I’m sweeping through the Historical file on my Kindle. 😉

  7. Tiffany says:

To lure a proper lady would probably be right down my alley, but despite the fineness of dat ass, that is NOT how 19th century breeches were constructed and I can’t get past it.
