Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: Spy Hero Pretends to Be Asleep

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO request comes from Lulu, who is looking for a historical romance:

I’m really struggling to remember a book I’ve been looking for ages and can’t find it, or remember the title or author.

It’s a historical. The heroine is a painter, who I think is divorced or in an unhappy marriage. She is attempting to forge a career as a portraitist.

The hero is a spy, who is sort of a chameleon. He is posing as an aristocrat (I seem to remember that the novel is set between Paris and London), but is really some sort of intelligence officer/assassin from Eastern Europe. He has a manservant/sidekick that went through a traumatic time with him in his past. The hero is always described as feline, and he pretends to be asleep a lot, which has something to do with spy training and techniques.

I know this isn’t much to go on, and I’m sorry I can’t provide more details!

An artist heroine and a spy hero. I know quite a few members of the Bitchery who would be into this!

  7. kkw says:

I read this book this summer, and loved it. Read the HaBO and had no ideas what it could be.

I am so glad everyone else is better at this than I am!

  8. Alexandra says:

This sounds great, and I am SO glad the Bitchery is so amazingly good at identifying books!

And now I realise I want a ressource that helps me find books with my special catnip – somewhere I can enter “librarian, cat, pediatrician/baker/carpenter, hot sex” and I get a list of books that fit the description. Is there an app for that?! 😀

  9. Lulu says:

Thank you so much, I feel kind of embarrassed it was so obvious to everyone else. But overall V grateful to find it, and excited to read it again!

    Thanks so much xx
