RECOMMENDED: The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand is $2.99! This contemporary romance was a Sizzling Book Club pick in September 2013. For many, Florand is an auto-buy author and the descriptions of chocolate were downright dangerous. A few readers felt that some scenes dialed up the angst too high, but the book maintains a 4-star rating on GoodReads.
It Started with a Kiss by Marina Adair is $1.99 at Amazon! This contemporary romance with small town elements and is the first book in the Sequoia Lake series. Readers loved the outdoorsy heroine, though some felt they were bored with the romance. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads. Have you read this?
Deadly Silence by Rebecca Zanetti is $1.99! This is the first book in the romantic suspense Blood Brothers series. This is a spinoff of her Sin Brothers series, but it can be read without reading anything else. There are a lot of plot threads happening, which frustrating some reviewers, but other readers didn’t want the book to end.
Going Dark by Monica McCarty is $1.99! This is McCarty’s first book in her romantic suspense series, The Lost Platoon. I originally picked up this book because of the heroine; she’s a marine ecologist. However, I wasn’t too thrilled with our first intro to the hero and his fellow SEALs.
The Scotsman Who Saved Me by Hannah Howell is $1.99! This is the first book in a new series, Seven Brides for Seven Scotsmen. There is a “nursed back to health” element, if that’s your catnip. However, readers were expecting a bit more action based on the book description.
RECOMMENDED: A Queen from the North by Erin McRae and Racheline Maltese is $2.99! This book was recently recommended to Redheadedgirl and she loved it, giving it a B+ grade:
I liked this a LOT. I liked the world building, and I liked Amelia. I liked how her initial reaction to Arthur’s proposal that they consider this level of political marriage was, “So… I’d be the first Yorkist to sit the throne since Richard III and I could actually create positive change for my people? I can’t say NO, can I? Of course I’ll think about it.”
September is here! And I probably could have done this post with just my input because it’s a really expensive one for me. I will also not apologize for the amount of fantasy YA coming out that I want to get my grabby hands on. But these new releases are by no means an exhaustive list of amazing books, so here are a few more popular choices to stick on your TBR pile: Sarah J. … Continue reading September’s New Releases→
RECOMMENDED: A Lady Awakened by Cecilia Grant is $2.99! This book is often recommended in terms a sex-positive heroine and was mentioned on a previous podcast where Sarah and I discussed Tinder. However, other readers found the heroine’s view of sex to be rather unromantic. Have you read this one?
RECOMMENDED: The Ghost by Monica McCarty is $2.99! This is the final book in the Highland Guard series and Elyse gave it a B+:
Alas, all good things come to an end. The Ghost by Monica McCarty is the 12th and final book in the Highland Guard series. I loved this series and The Ghost does not disappoint.
A couple of notes: this series does not need to be read in order although characters reappear throughout the series (this book ties in closely with The Viper, Lachlan and Bella’s book). This book also contains an attempted rape scene and mention of a prior rape that some readers may find triggering.
Overall this is a great wrap-up to the series: it left me bittersweet that it was all coming to a final happily ever after.
