It’s steeped in mythology, badassery, and lots and lots of violence. If you’re sensitive to graphic, gritty details, this book is not for you.
Kulti by Mariana Zapata is $1.49 at Amazon! It’s a Kindle Daily Deal and definitely check out the others, which include a Seanan McGuire! If you like slow burn romances and grumpy heroes, this one comes highly recommended by the Bitchery. However, some found the slow burn a little too slow, and we’ve previously posted a thoughtful guest review with a C grade.
RECOMMENDED: Moon Called by Patricia Briggs is $2.99! This is the first book in the Mercy Thompson urban fantasy series and I really loved this book. Admittedly, I’m not caught up in the series and have only read the first three or four books, so maybe someone can add some thoughts on how the series unfolds, whether good or bad. Many people love the heroine because she’s a bit of a badass. However, some people feel like the first book is a little slow.
RECOMMENDED: Forbidden by Beverly Jenkins is $1.99! Redheadedgirl gave this book an A and reminded us all how lucky we are to have an author like Jenkins:
What Jenkins has been doing for decades upon decades is giving her readers strong three-dimensional Black women who are loved, desired, and cherished. I can’t tell you how important that is. Eddy gets to be strong, but also loved and supported by her community and her man, and that is the thing I loved most about her. I’m so glad Jenkins is writing these stories and giving voice to these times and places and people. We’re really lucky to have her in our community.
