  • This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me

This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews

This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews is $6.99! Thank you to everyone who let us know about this reduced price. This was a big release in March and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you were still on the waitlist at your local libraries.

Outlander meets Game of Thrones in this blockbuster new epic fantasy series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author duo Ilona Andrews.

When Maggie wakes up cold, filthy, and naked in a gutter, it doesn’t take her long to recognize Kair Toren, a city she knows intimately from the pages of the famously unfinished dark fantasy series she’s been obsessively reading and re-reading while waiting years for the final novel.

Her only tools for navigating this gritty world of rival warlords, magic, and mayhem? Her encyclopedic knowledge of the plot, the setting, and the characters’ ambitions and fates. But while she quickly discovers she cannot be killed (though many will try!), the same cannot be said for the living, breathing characters she’s coming to love—a motley band that includes a former lady’s maid, a deadly assassin, various outrageous magical creatures, and a dangerously appealing soldier. Soon, instead of trying to get home, she finds herself enmeshed in the schemes—and attentions—of dueling princes, dukes, and villains, all while trying to save them and the kingdom of Rellas from the way she knows their stories will end: in a cataclysmic war.

For fans of Samantha Shannon, Danielle L. Jensen, Sarah J. Maas, and isekai and portal fantasy, This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me is the beginning of the most epic adventure yet from genre powerhouse author duo Ilona Andrews.

  • The Fix

    The Fix by Mia Sheridan

The Fix by Mia Sheridan is $2.49! This is a Kindle Daily Deal and only available digitally at Amazon; it’s published by them. I’ve enjoyed Sheridan’s emotional, dark contemporaries in the past, but this one seems like it’s more thriller with a romantic subplot.

A chilling take on second chances, where a brutal break-in comes back to haunt the sole survivor with a new threat—and another victim.

Eleven years ago, Cami Cortlandt’s mother and sister died cruelly in a violent home invasion. The trauma and notoriety still linger, but Cami has managed to build a life in her hometown despite everything she’s lost.

Then one day it all comes rushing back.

A distorted voice on the phone: Would you like a do-over? A disturbing video of a room with bars on the window, trapping a young boy inside who looks achingly, impossibly familiar. Four days to find him.

With the help of Rex Lowe, an old classmate whose past is inextricably tied to her own, Cami races to uncover everything she can about the boy—where he is, who he is, and why she’s the only one who can save him.

But as Cami and Rex unravel one clue after another, the past and present converge in an explosion of secrets they never saw coming…and a truth they never could have imagined.

  • Wildcard

    Wildcard by Jennifer Iacopelli

Wildcard by Jennifer Iacopelli is $2.99! This is book two in the Match Point series and features a tennis player heroine. It seems this one skews more toward New Adult.

A tennis star takes a big swing on a secret romance in this juicy sports rom com filled with friendship, rivalries, and drama

She’s at the top of her game … can she risk falling for him?

Indiana Gaffney’s first love has always been tennis, and after snagging a slot at the elite Outer Banks Tennis Club, she’s climbing the ranks quicker than one of her own speeding serves. But Indy wants more than top billing at the club—she’s set her sights on a wildcard invitation to Wimbledon and she’s going to do anything it takes to make sure that spot is hers.

But while her eyes are on the competition, Indy’s heart is somewhere else: Sports agent Jack Harrison. Tall, handsome, a powerhouse in the tennis world and the older brother of Indy’s new friend and the sport’s biggest star, Penny Harrison.

Indy knows that tennis stardom and relationships rarely mix, so she’s sneaking hookup sessions between practice drills, keeping Jack a secret from everyone in her life—even Penny. Instead, Indy throws herself into training with her one‑time rival Jasmine Randazzo, who is still mending her own broken heart. But with the days ticking down to Wimbledon, Indy’s off-the-court romance with Jack is heating up and for the first time in her life, Indy will have to choose: How much will she do for the love of the game—and how much will she do for love?

This heart-pounding sports romance is told through the eyes of three tennis stars as they balance relationships, high stakes tournaments, and friendship, from the author of Finding Her Edge (coming to Netflix), perfect for fans of Sarah Adams and Chloe Walsh.

  1. Jazzlet says:

This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me is the only book I have ever finished then turned back to the beginning and reread immediately. It is brilliant. However we do not get a resolution in this book, so if this or cliff hangers bother you maybe buy it but wait to read.

  2. Brigitte says:

Edd Kimber’s cookbooks are really good. He’s also the first winner of the Great British Bakeoff and has a very successful career in the culinary world now. I have this book and Small Batch Bakes, both which I use all the time as an empty nester.

  3. kkw says:

I don’t get small batch baking, since baking has always been my primary means of bribing affection and procuring friendships, although I guess it would be handy if everyone you know is off carbs…

I agree This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me is great, just fabulous, despite the unacceptable cliffhanging.

  4. Sandra says:

For TKWNKM – if you want to avoid the cliffhanger, just don’t read the epilogue. The rest of the book is self-contained and comes to a resolution. Book 2 is in post-submission edits according to the IA website.

They have had several successful self-published books over the last couple years, but Ilona has talked about their need to get back into bookstores to expand their base. I think this book qualifies. Tor seems to have gone all in on it as far as marketing goes, and there’s a number of US and international special editions available.
