All the Right Notes
All the Right Notes by Dominic Lim is $2.99! Dahlia mentioned this one in her monthly queer romances column. It was also Lim’s debut and I’ve heard good things about it.
In this hilarious and joyous rom com, sparks fly when a piano genius and a Hollywood heartthrob are thrown together for a charity performance of solos, heartfelt duets, and a big, showstopping finale.
Quito Cruz might be a genius piano player and composer in New York City now but it doesn’t mean that he’s any closer to his Broadway dream. Although Quito knows what the problem is. Or rather who. Because ever since that night in college—with pretty-boy jock Emmett Aoki—his inspiration has been completely MIA . . .
Now Quito’s dad wants him to put on a charity performance in his hometown. And there’s one hella big string attached: convince Emmett—now one of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities—to perform.
It’s all shaping up to be the biggest musical fiasco of Quito’s life. Especially when Emmett agrees to attend, and Quito realizes that undeniable vibe between them is stronger than ever. Because there’s nothing simple about falling for a movie star . . . even when he’s pitch-perfect.

Enchanted to Meet You
Enchanted to Meet You by Meg Cabot is $1.99! This is book one in The Witches of West Harbor small town paranormal romance series. This one came out last September and I feel like it flew under the radar.
It’s Magic When You Meet Your Match
In her teenage years, lovelorn Jessica Gold cast a spell that went disastrously wrong, and brought her all the wrong kind of attention—as well as a lifetime ban from the World Council of Witches.
So no one is more surprised than Jess when, fifteen years later, tall, handsome WCW member Derrick Winters shows up in her quaint little village of West Harbor and claims that Jess is the Chosen One.
She’s the Chosen One
Not chosen by West Harbor’s snobby elite to style them for the town’s tricentennial ball—though Jess owns the chicest clothing boutique in town. And not chosen finally to be on the WCW, either—not that Jess would have said yes, anyway, since she’s done with any organization that tries to dictate what makes a “true” witch.
No, Jess has been chosen to help save West Harbor itself . . .
As Summer Ends, Her Power Grows
But just when Jess is beginning to think that she and Derrick might have a certain magic of their own—and not of the supernatural variety—Jess learns he may not be who she thought he was.
And suddenly Jess finds herself having to make another kind of choice: trust Derrick and work with him to combat the sinister force battling to bring down West Harbor, or use her gift as she always has: to keep herself, and her heart, safe.
Can she work her magic in time?

Scandalous Desires
Scandalous Desires by Elizabeth Hoyt is $1.99! I enjoyed the Maiden Lane books on audio and Charming Mickey starts off as a bit of a villain. This one is divisive as some readers disliked the heroine or found the hero not worthy of redemption. You’d have to read the previous two books to fully understand his relationship to the characters, but it still operates fine as a stand alone.
Can a pirate learn that the only true treasure lies in a woman’s heart?
Widowed Silence Hollingbrook is impoverished, lovely, and kind–and nine months ago she made a horrible mistake. She went to a river pirate for help in saving her husband and in the process made a bargain that cost her her marriage. That night wounded her so terribly that she hides in the foundling home she helps run with her brother. Except now that same river pirate is back…and he’s asking for her help.
“Charming” Mickey O’Connor is the most ruthless river pirate in London. Devastatingly handsome and fearsomely intelligent, he clawed his way up through London’s criminal underworld. Mickey has no use for tender emotions like compassion and love, and he sees people as pawns to be manipulated. And yet he’s never been able to forget the naive captain’s wife who came to him for help and spent one memorable night in his bed…talking.
When his bastard baby girl was dumped in his lap–her mother having died–Mickey couldn’t resist the Machiavellian urge to leave the baby on Silence’s doorstep. The baby would be hidden from his enemies and he’d also bind Silence to him by her love for his daughter.

The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires
The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires by Molly Harper is $1.99! This is a paranormal romance that features a vampire hero and a heroine who is a daytime “vampire concierge.” Author of the Heroine Complex series, Sarah Kuhn, tweeted that this was her favorite Molly Harper and said it has a great sister relationship.
Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow’s only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she’d like. Running all their daylight errands—from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg—gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship—and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.
Cal – who would be devastatingly sexy, if Iris allowed herself to think that way – offers Iris a hefty fee for hiding him at her place until he figures out who wants him permanently dead. Even though he’s imperious, unfriendly and doesn’t seem to understand the difference between “employee” and “servant,” Iris agrees, and finds herself breaking more and more of her own rules to help him – particularly those concerning nudity.
Turns out what her quiet little life needed was some intrigue & romance—in the form of her very own stray vampire.

I like Hoyt, but I never managed to finish this one. Silence was just TOO SPECIAL, and I just couldn’t buy into all these vicious river pirates falling all over themselves for her.
And FYI, I think you have the wrong blurb on the Harper.
The wrong book description seems to have crept into Molly Harper’s Care and feeding of Stray Vampires.
WOW that’s weird – let me fix real quick.
Since it is still on sale today – The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna is 1.99! This was great (awesome found family, great side characters) and is crazy popular right now – I was on hold for this for weeks on libby but I snapped it up yesterday when I saw the sale so now I have it to re-read 😉
Neither are romance, but in the UK, RIVERS OF LONDON, book 1 in Ben Aaronovitch’s series is 99p today.
DREADFUL by Caitlin Rozakis has dropped to £1.99 at A’zon UK, with the blurb describing it as “A sharp-witted, high fantasy farce featuring killer moat squid, toxic masculinity, evil wizards and a garlic festival”.
In the monthly deals, BURNOUT by Emily & Amelia Nagoski is 99p – Emily’s been featured on the podcast here a few times.
I FEEL BAD ABOUT MY NECK by Nora Ephron is also 99p – has anyone read Ephron’s writing? All I know about her is that she wrote When Harry Met Sally.
@Kir
Nora Ephron had a huge career. She wrote (or co-wrote?) the screenplays for Heartburn, Silkwood, Sleeoless in Seattle, You’ve got Mail…
I read I FEEL BAD ABOUT MY NECK a long time ago and thought it was hilarious. Now that I’m much farther along on my own ‘journey’, the things I remember are even funnier.
I listened to ENCHANTED TO MEET YOU this fall and liked it – it has some Janet Evanovich Lizzie and Diesel vibes, with more queer and POC representation. I really liked how the supernatural conflict was resolved, too.
@Kir/@JTAlexis: She directed a number of her own screenplays, including Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail. She was nominated for Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Tony’s and won a BAFTA award. She started her career as an intern in the JFK White House. She was married to Carl Bernstein post-Watergate and figured out from his notes who Deep Throat was. For many years, she was one of very few people besides Woodward and Bernstein who knew. An all-around remarkable woman.
