The King’s Man
The King’s Man by Elizabeth Kingston is $2.99! This is the first book in the Welsh Blades series and features an enemies to lovers romance, plus a nursed back to health element. Readers recommend the audio version narrated by Nicholas Boulton and many liked the anti-hero-ness of the hero. However, some mention there are historical inaccuracies.
Ranulf Ombrier’s fame throughout 13th century England for his skill at swordplay is rivaled only by his notoriety as King Edward I’s favorite killer. Ranulf’s actions have gained him lands, title, and a lasting reputation as a hired butcher. But after years of doing his king’s bidding, he begins to fear for his mortal soul and follows his conscience away from Edward, all the way to the wilds of Wales.
Gwenllian of Ruardean, Welsh daughter of a powerful Marcher lord, has every reason to leave Ranulf for dead when one of her men nearly kills him. As a girl she was married by proxy to a man Ranulf murdered, only to become a widow before she ever met her groom. In the years since, she has shunned the life of a lady, instead studying warfare and combat at her mother’s behest. But she has also studied healing and this, with her sense of duty to knightly virtues, leads her to tend to Ranulf’s wounds.
Saving her enemy’s life comes with consequences, and Gwenllian and Ranulf are soon caught up in dangerous intrigue. Forced together by political machinations, they discover a kinship of spirit and a surprising, intense desire. But even hard-won love cannot thrive when loyalties are divided and the winds of rebellion sweep the land.

The Last Train to Key West
The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton is $1.99! Cleeton’s historical fiction has always been pretty well received. I also think it’s nice to see historical fiction set outside the UK.
In 1935 three women are forever changed when one of the most powerful hurricanes in history barrels toward the Florida Keys in New York Times bestselling author Chanel Cleeton’s captivating new novel.
Everyone journeys to Key West searching for something. For the tourists traveling on Henry Flagler’s legendary Overseas Railroad, Labor Day weekend is an opportunity to forget the economic depression gripping the nation. But one person’s paradise can be another’s prison, and Key West-native Helen Berner yearns to escape.
The Cuban Revolution of 1933 left Mirta Perez’s family in a precarious position. After an arranged wedding in Havana, Mirta arrives in the Keys on her honeymoon. While she can’t deny the growing attraction to the stranger she’s married, her new husband’s illicit business interests may threaten not only her relationship, but her life.
Elizabeth Preston’s trip from New York to Key West is a chance to save her once-wealthy family from their troubles as a result of the Wall Street crash. Her quest takes her to the camps occupied by veterans of the Great War and pairs her with an unlikely ally on a treacherous hunt of his own.
Over the course of the holiday weekend, the women’s paths cross unexpectedly, and the danger swirling around them is matched only by the terrifying force of the deadly storm threatening the Keys.

THE REMARKABLE RETIREMENT OF EDNA FISHER is 99p at Kobo/Kindle UK – I haven’t read it yet but I’m pretty sure that it was someone at the Bitchery who put it on my radar, featuring a “geriatric armed with nothing but gumption and knitting needles” who becomes the Chosen One.
UNDER YOUR SPELL was wonderful, and features strong family bonds between the FMC and her sisters and moms as well as a great romance with an adorably sweet guy.
I’ve also read a couple of the books in SECRET SUMMER FLINGS and enjoyed them, and you certainly can’t beat the price!
I haven’t read Under Your Spell yet (saving it for a slump) but Laura Wood’s YA historicals are always beautifully swoonworthy in their romantic aspects and I have very high hopes.
Ditto JenM! I really enjoyed UNDER YOUR SPELL, and greatly enjoyed books by three of the authors included in SECRET SUMMER FLINGS: Roxie Noir (she’s on my autobuy list), Karen Grey (have bought and read 90% of her work and enjoyed all), and Jackie Lau. I have heard good things and have books TBR by several of the rest.

I got SECRET SUMMER FLINGS free at Kobo last time it was mentioned (in a comment?). It’s not appearing in search there now so I don’t know if it’s still available there, but here’s the link I got from my collection: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/secret-summer-flings (I see it listed when clicking one of the authors’ names, so that’s encouraging).
