Because of my absolute abhorrence of a Big Misunderstanding plot, I nearly didn’t come back to this book, so if that turns you off, too, don’t make my mistake. You’ll be rewarded with a fun, emotionally nuanced, and surprising heist adventure – a very memorable one!
Happy Tuesday! This is the last release week in September before October hits. And wow, there are so many books next month. Things will most likely quiet down a bit for November and December. Are you excited for anything this week? Let us know in the comments!
The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan is $2.24 at Amazon and $2.99 elsewhere! If you’ve been looking to try out Ryan’s steamy, angsty contemporaries, this isn’t a bad deal This is the first book in the series and I believe the first book has a bit of a cliffhanger.
The King’s Man by Elizabeth Kingston is $2.99! This is the first book in the Welsh Blades series and features an enemies to lovers romance, plus a nursed back to health element. Readers recommend the audio version narrated by Nicholas Boulton and many liked the anti-hero-ness of the hero. However, some mention there are historical inaccuracies.
RECOMMENDED: A Power Unbound by Freya Marske is $2.99! This is book 3 of The Last Binding series, a queer historical fantasy series that began with A Marvellous Light (which is in KU so if you haven’t read this trilogy, it’s easy to start). A Power Unbound was mentioned in Hide Your Wallet, and Freya Marske was a guest on the podcast to talk about the second book A Restless Truth. This trilogy is terrific, and A Power Unbound has a 4.39 star average on StoryGraph and 4.32 on Goodreads. Have you read this book?
Happy April, friends! We’re start this month off nice and slow. Mysteries dominate this week’s of releases, from cozy to historical to Gothic. There are also a couple romances, mainly of the contemporary variety. What releases are on your TBR pile this week? Tell us in the comments!
Savvy Sheldon Feels Good as Hell by Taj McCoy is $2.99! This was mentioned on a previous Hide Your Wallet. I thought we had a review of this one, but maybe I’m just remembering Shana talking about it in our Slack channels.
Glitterland by Alexis Hall is $2.51! Apologies if this is a leftover Kindle Daily Deal from yesterday. This is one of Hall’s earlier books that received a cover redesign. Not sure how I like it, honestly. I think it’d fit more if the main characters were ice skaters.
When We Left Cuba by Chanel Cleeton is $1.99! This one features a character from the first book in this series, Next Year in Havana, but I believe you can manage this one as a standalone. If I’m wrong, though, chime in below! Here’s what Sarah had to say:
When We Left Cuba is beautiful and fascinating. Better recommendation comes from my house sitter earlier this year who very timidly asked if she could read my ARC of book three because she loves the series so so much and was so excited that a preview copy was in her vicinity.
If you’re new to Hide Your Wallet, this is where we list new releases we’re pretty excited for in the coming month. Each reviewer has a book maximum (five per person), and we’ve separated HYW into two parts. The first HYW of the month will cover books that release from the 1st to the 14th. The second HYW will cover books released from the 15th to the end of the month. We also think this … Continue reading April 2023 New Releases, Part One→
Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai is $1.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal, so grab it while you can. All of us were excited when this came out. There was also a recent announcement that the book has gotten picked up by Warner Brothers TV.
