Hotel of Secrets
Hotel of Secrets by Diana Biller is $2.99! This one came out in March and was mentioned on Hide Your Wallet. I know Biller is an auto-buy for a lot of you and we haven’t featured this one on sale before.
During ball season, anything can happen, even love.
It’s ball season in Vienna, and Maria Wallner only wants one thing: to restore her family’s hotel, the Hotel Wallner, to its former glory. She’s not going to let anything get in her way – not her parents’ three-decade-long affair; not seemingly-random attacks by masked assassins; and especially not the broad-shouldered American foreign agent who’s saved her life two times already. No matter how luscious his mouth is.
Eli Whittaker also only wants one thing: to find out who is selling American secret codes across Europe, arrest them, and go home to his sensible life in Washington, DC. He has one lead – a letter the culprit sent from a Viennese hotel. But when he arrives in Vienna, he is immediately swept up into a chaotic whirlwind of balls, spies, waltzes, and beautiful hotelkeepers who seem to constantly find themselves in danger. He disapproves of all of it! But his disapproval is tested as he slowly falls deeper into the chaos – and as his attraction to said hotelkeeper grows.

Forget Me Not
Forget Me Not by Julie Soto is $4.99! This is a debut romance that released last month and was also mentioned on Hide Your Wallet. I liked this one! However, the narrative does jump back and forth between past and present, and switches POV when doing so.
An ambitious wedding planner must work with her grumpy florist ex, whose heart she broke, on the most high-profile wedding of her career, in this spicy and emotional romance from popular fanfic author Julie Soto.
He loves me; he loves me not…
Ama Torres loves being a wedding planner. But with a mother who has been married more times than you can count on your fingers, Ama has decided that marriage is not the route for her. But weddings? Weddings are amazing. As a small business owner, she knows how to match her clients with the perfect vendor to give them the wedding of their dreams. Well, almost perfect…
Elliot hates being a florist, most of the time. When his father left him the flower shop, he considered it a burden, but he’s stuck with it. Just like how he’s stuck with the way he proposed to Ama, his main collaborator and girlfriend (or was she?) two years ago. But flowers have grown on him, just like Ama did. And flowers can’t run off and never speak to him again, like Ama did.
When Ama is hired to plan a celebrity wedding that will bring her business national exposure, there’s a catch: Elliot is already contracted to design the flowers. Things are not helped by the two brides, who see the obvious chemistry between Ama and Elliot and are determined to set them up, not knowing their complicated history. Add in a meddling ex-boss, and a reality TV film crew documenting every step of the wedding prep, and Ama and Elliot’s hearts are not only in jeopardy again, but this time, their livelihoods are too.

A Darker Shade of Magic
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab is $2.99! This book comes recommended from several friends of mine, though I haven’t read it yet. Many readers loved the fantasy aspects and different cast of characters, but there are also readers who felt the book really slogged at times. The entire trilogy, with brand new covers, is on sale.
From V.E. Schwab, the critically acclaimed author of Vicious, comes a new universe of daring adventure, thrilling power, and parallel Londons, beginning with A Darker Shade of Magic.
Kell is one of the last Travelers–magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel universes–as such, he can choose where he lands.
There’s Grey London, dirty and boring, without any magic, ruled by a mad King George. Then there’s Red London, where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire. White London, ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne–a place where people fight to control magic, and the magic fights back, draining the city to its very bones. And once upon a time, there was Black London…but no one speaks of that now.Officially, Kell is the Red Traveler, personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between the royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell is a smuggler, servicing people willing to pay for even the smallest glimpses of a world they’ll never see–a dangerous hobby, and one that has set him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations, first robs him, then saves him from a dangerous enemy, and then forces him to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure.
But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive–and that is proving trickier than they hoped.

Forget me not was one of those books that was compulsively readable in the moment but didn’t stand up to the post-book-binge scrutiny for a variety of reasons. It’s a second chance romance with very little romance in the present day setting. Good (if occasionally repetitive) sex scenes but there was also impulsive unprotected sex which, YMMV, but that sort of thing takes me out of the book because all I can think is “antibiotic resistant STDs!”
Buying the Diana Biller – did not get into initially in paperback from the library, think ebook might help me.
The Lenora Bell was unfortunately a DNF for me – I liked the first in that series and her previous books.
I’m so mad they changed the Darker Shade of Magic covers – the first ones are such a striking design!
Bookbub helpfully notified me that the “stalking their mate” book recently featured in Cover Snark is free on the major book sites today. I didn’t click, because the two stalkers are twin brothers and I prefer my menage without sibling sharing.
THE MIDSUMMER BRIDE is readable! Kati Wilde uploaded the finished version!
The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right by Atul Gawande is currently $2.99
