A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole is $1.99! This is the third book in Cole’s Reluctant Royals series. I’d say it can be read as a standalone, but characters from previous books definitely play a role. Elyse gave this one a B:
A Prince on Paper was a fun, fairytale romance, but it needed more resolution to totally satisfy me.
Because of my absolute abhorrence of a Big Misunderstanding plot, I nearly didn’t come back to this book, so if that turns you off, too, don’t make my mistake. You’ll be rewarded with a fun, emotionally nuanced, and surprising heist adventure – a very memorable one!
You’re the Duke That I Want by Lenora Bell is $1.99! I mentioned this one in December 2023’s Hide Your Wallet because I felt like the Bitchery needed to know that a historical romance based on Grease exists. This is book one in the Thunderbolt Club series.
The Duke Gets Even by Joanna Shupe is $2.99! This is book four in the Fifth Avenue Rebels series. I loved the intimacy in the last couple covers of this series. Have you read all four? What do you think?
We made it to the end of 2023! Let’s discuss our last round of releases on our radars and get ready for even more books in 2024. We’ll be keeping this as a weekly segment. See y’all on the other side! What books are capping off your year? Let us know below!
A Lady’s Guide to Fortune Hunting by Sophie Irwin is $1.99! This one was mentioned in a previous Hide Your Wallet, though we don’t have a formal review. Did any of you read it? What did you think?
Hotel of Secrets by Diana Biller is $2.99! This one came out in March and was mentioned on Hide Your Wallet. I know Biller is an auto-buy for a lot of you and we haven’t featured this one on sale before.
I’ve read a lot of books recently in which the romance was the least interesting part of the book. This book gave me the opposite feeling. Ari and Russell are nice people who are nice to spend time with, so while this book was not, shall we say, action packed, it was a lovely story about being honest with and about yourself and others and finding unexpected love.
Duke of My Heart by Kelly Bowen is $1.99! The heroine in this historical romance is a fixer who tries to smooth over scandals. Some readers felt there was too much going on plot and character wise. But many loved the heroine. I’ve enjoyed Bowen’s books, but haven’t read this one
I loved the book and would gleefully quote it all day. It made me feel happy and bubbly. It celebrated art of all kinds, even (possibly especially) shitty art. It made me feel hopeful and it made me laugh, and I love the message with which it begins and ends.
In this book, Leia is a bold, idealistic teenage girl, in training for her role as ruler, and undergoing the trials that will prove her fitness for it. We get to see her relationship with her parents, Bail and Breha Organa. Breha, especially, gives us an understanding of why Leia is the woman she is.
