The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes
RECOMMENDED: The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian is $1.99! Carrie gave it a B+:
This book succeeds in that it gives an irresistible couple in sweet, goofy Rob and grumpy Marian. I adored this couple for their ability to think outside the box, their easy and complete acceptance of each other, and their banter.
Cat Sebastian returns to Georgian London with a stunning tale of a reluctant criminal and the thief who cannot help but love her.
Marian Hayes, the Duchess of Clare, just shot her husband. Of course, the evil, murderous man deserved what was coming to him, but now she must flee to the countryside. Unfortunately, the only person she can ask for help is the charismatic criminal who is blackmailing her—and who she may have left tied up a few hours before…
A highwayman, con artist, and all-around cheerful villain, Rob Brooks is no stranger to the wrong side of the law or the right side of anybody’s bed. He never meant to fall for the woman whose secrets he promised to keep for the low price of five hundred pounds, but how could he resist someone who led him on a merry chase all over London, left him tied up in a seedy inn, and then arrived covered in her husband’s blood and in desperate need of his help?
As they flee across the country—stopping to pick pockets, drink to excess, and rescue invalid cats—they discover more true joy and peace than either has felt in ages. But when the truth of Rob’s past catches up to him, they must decide if they are willing to reshape their lives in order to forge a future together.

A Cowboy to Remember
A Cowboy to Remember by Rebekah Weatherspoon is $3.99! Shana reviewed this one and gave it a B:
A Cowboy to Remember was an enjoyable read, but left me with the type of disappointment that only happens when your expectations are very high. Still, this is a low angst, and frequently funny romance that allows readers to get their cowboy fix without traveling to a red state.
In this brand-new series from award-winning author Rebekah Weatherspoon, a charming cowboy and his sleeping beauty find their modern-day happily ever after . . .
With a headline spot on a hit morning show and truly mouth-watering culinary skills, chef Evie Buchanan is perched on the edge of stardom. But at an industry party, a fall lands Evie in the hospital—with no memory of who she is. Scrambling to help, Evie’s assistant contacts the only “family” Evie has left, close friends who run the luxury dude ranch in California where Evie grew up. Evie has no recollection of them—until former rodeo champion Zach Pleasant walks into her hospital room, and she realizes his handsome face has been haunting her dreams . . .
Zach hasn’t seen Evie in years—not since their families conducted a campaign to make sure their childhood friendship never turned into anything more. When the young cowboy refused to admit the feelings between them were real, Evie left California, making it clear she never wanted to see Zach again. Now he refuses to make the same mistake twice. Starting fresh is a risk when they have a history she can’t recall, but Zach can’t bear to let go of her now. Can he awaken the sleeping beauty inside her who might still love him?

American Dreamer
American Dreamer by Adriana Herrera is $1.99! Sarah read this one and gave it a B:
This was a truly delicious, delectable, emotional story with resonance and heart and so much food, it might as well have its own stomach because yours shouldn’t be growling alone.
No one ever said big dreams come easy
For Nesto Vasquez, moving his Afro-Caribbean food truck from New York City to the wilds of Upstate New York is a huge gamble. If it works? He’ll be a big fish in a little pond. If it doesn’t? He’ll have to give up the hustle and return to the day job he hates. He’s got six months to make it happen—the last thing he needs is a distraction.
Jude Fuller is proud of the life he’s built on the banks of Cayuga Lake. He has a job he loves and good friends. It’s safe. It’s quiet. And it’s damn lonely. Until he tries Ithaca’s most-talked-about new lunch spot and works up the courage to flirt with the handsome owner. Soon he can’t get enough—of Nesto’s food orof Nesto. For the first time in his life, Jude can finally taste the kind of happiness that’s always been just out of reach.
An opportunity too good to pass up could mean a way to stay together and an incredible future for them both…if Nesto can remember happiness isn’t always measured by business success. And if Jude can overcome his past and trust his man will never let him down.

Make It Sweet
Make It Sweet by Kristen Callihan is $1.99! Aarya mentioned this in a previous February’s Hide Your Wallet and said she was tempted by the blurb. I haven’t kept up with Callihan’s more current romances. What do you think of them?
From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Callihan comes a charming, emotional romance about redefining dreams and discovering unlikely love along the way.
Life for Emma isn’t good. The world knows her as Princess Anya on Dark Castle, but then her character gets the axe—literally. The cherry on top is finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman. She needs a break, and sanctuary comes in the form of Rosemont, a gorgeous estate in California promising rest and relaxation.
Then she meets the owner’s equally gorgeous grandson, ex–hockey player and current recluse Lucian Osmond, and she sees her own pain and yearning reflected in his eyes.
He’s charming when he wants to be but also secretive and gruff, with protective walls as thick as Emma’s own. Despite a growing attraction, they avoid each other.
But then there’s an impromptu nighttime skinny-dip, and Lucian’s luscious homemade tarts and cream cakes start arriving at Emma’s door, tempting her to taste life again…
In trying to stay apart, they only grow closer—and their broken pieces just might fit together and make them whole.

Today is Romance Bookworms Stuff Your Kindle Day. It’s always a little overwhelming to scroll but there’s Jackie Lau, Emma Barry, and some other favorites!

A Cowboy to Remember… the book that reminded me that the amnesia trope is NOT for me. It’s a good author though so maybe if you don’t dislike amnesia books it’d be fine.
Liked all of these; American Dreamer was my favorite of the group, but they’re all solid B-to-A reads for me.
To celebrate the start of baseball season, Julianna Keyes has her two baseball romances on sale for $0.99 each. She’s a fan and the baseball rep is really good, if that’s important to you, lol. I really enjoyed both of these!
I really liked the writing and characters in MARIAN HAYES, but had some issues with the plot, especially the ending which I found to be too morally squishy. That said, Marian and Rob are great, there’s witty banter, some epistolary romance, and some excellent supporting characters.
I’m not a huge fan of contemoporary romances, but Make Sweet is excellent. I’ve gone back to read it a few times now – I like this series.
I mostly agree with the ratings here but liked A COWBOY TO REMEMBER a little better than @JoannaBB did.
I would also recommend MAKE IT SWEET, but Kristen Callihan is one of my favourite authors. It was an A for me personally.
A few of the authors I was excited to find offering books through the Stuff Your Ereader event: Beth Bolden (m/m sports romance), Trish Milburn (from her K-pop contemporary series), a couple books from the Vino and Veritas series by Rhys Everly and JE Birk , Hildie McQueen’s The Lion (historical), Reina Torres’ contribution to the Dad Bod series, Emma Barry, MJ Fredrick, Jacqueline Snowe…
AJ Sherwood’s Style of Love (Gay 4 Renovations Book 1) is free on kindle. Best friends to lovers, many warm fuzzies, much feel good, very funny. Giant friendly dog, good family relationships, bad family relationships… I dove in as soon as I downloaded it, and it might be my favorite under this pen name so far?
Sarah Mayberry’s Bound to the Bachelor is free on Kobo and Amazon according to Bookbub.
Trigger/Content Warning Update on AJ Sherwood’s Style of Love (Gay 4 Renovations Book 1): There’s awesome family and there’s toxic family. In case you don’t have the spoons to read about how a guy’s family wants him to “straighten out” and “be normal.”
April 2nd, GUNPOWDER ALCHEMY by Jeannie Lin (Gunpowder Chronicles book 1) is FREE on Amazon US. Believe this was reviewed favorably on this site sometime in the past; don’t think it’s Romance so much as Chinese-set steampunk Fantasy (with a romantic subplot, possibly)
