Links: Star Wars, Mercedes Lackey, & More

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hey hey! It’s Wednesday!

After two full weeks of socializing, I am so ready for a weekend of doing nothing but being a couch goblin. I went to a black tie wedding over the weekend. It was all very fancy and I rented a red, off the shoulder, trumpet/mermaid style dress for the occasion (pictures on my Instagram; shout out to Rent the Runway). My partner even went through the process of buying a tailored tux. Honestly, we looked pretty good, though we were both happy to shed our outfits at the end of the night and watch Dodgeball in the hotel room instead of going to the after party.

Anyone else with top notch relaxation plans this weekend?

I had a blast reading this twitter thread of Star Wars characters and how they’d react if you asked them to pick up pads. Would definitely love a part two!

There’s a LinkedIn post generator and it’s hilarious. Do we still use LinkedIn? I haven’t used mine since grad school.

Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar Universe series could be getting a TV adaptation! What do we think? Obviously, the news is sparse and who knows if it will happen.

And lastly, I keep thinking about this bit of wisdom, especially as a book reviewer.

Don’t forget to share what cool or interesting things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

  1. From the post generator: “I cut my toenails a few minutes ago, and it felt great. Usually, people that cut my toenails professionally don’t talk about it in public. But I do. Because I should inspire my fans.”

It’s like having your very own uninspired PR intern!

  2. Melissandre says:

Any bets there will be complaints about how they’ve ruined Heralds of Valdemar by making it woke? You know, the book series that had canonical gay relationships, features a central nation of diverse people and religions, and has a world of multiple nonwhite cultures–all pretty much from the jump?

  3. ReadKnitSnark says:

@Melissandre And talked about menstruating and birth control in the first published book!

  4. Kate says:

Dodgeball is one of my favorite funny movies. My friends and I frequently toss out “nobody makes me bleed my own blood!” and giggle like maniacs.

I could not for the life of me get to the thread from Amanda’s links (I hate Twitter), so here is the unrolled thread: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1561769222107168768.html

  6. HeatherS says:

Sharon Curtis, half of the husband-wife writing team Laura London, passed away on September 4th, per an obituary posted on the Laura London FB page by the family.

  7. Sue says:

@omphale Bless you! I also couldn’t get to the thread, possibly because I don’t have a twitter account.

  8. Kris Bock says:

Thanks, omphale! I also kept trying and couldn’t see the thread, only the original post. Worth it to come back and try again with your help.
