  • The Hidden Moon

The Hidden Moon by Jeannie Lin

The Hidden Moon by Jeannie Lin is 99c! This is part of the Lotus Palace Mystery series. I think these can be read on their own rather than in order, but definitely let me know in the comments if that’s not the case.

A well-bred lady and lowly street hustler team up in a historical murder mystery set during China’s glittering Tang Dynasty. Part of the best-selling Lotus Palace series.

Impetuous and well-educated, young Lady Bai has always been the forgotten daughter between two favored sons. However, when Wei-wei’s older brother is tasked with investigating a high-profile assassination, he turns to his clever younger sister for assistance.

Gao is a street-wise scoundrel with a checkered past and a shady reputation. He knows better than to set his sights on the high-born Lady Bai, but when she asks for his help, he can’t refuse.

As the unlikely pair chase down a conspiracy that reaches from the gutters of the capital to the imperial palace, Wei-wei is intent on seeing justice done, while Gao is determined to solve the mystery just for her – even if the attraction between them can never be more than a moment’s longing.

  • Make It Sweet

Make It Sweet by Kristen Callihan

Make It Sweet by Kristen Callihan is $1.99! A KDD here! Aarya mentioned this in February’s Hide Your Wallet and said she was tempted by the blurb. I haven’t kept up with Callihan’s more current romances. What do you think of them?

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Callihan comes a charming, emotional romance about redefining dreams and discovering unlikely love along the way.

Life for Emma isn’t good. The world knows her as Princess Anya on Dark Castle, but then her character gets the axe—literally. The cherry on top is finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman. She needs a break, and sanctuary comes in the form of Rosemont, a gorgeous estate in California promising rest and relaxation.

Then she meets the owner’s equally gorgeous grandson, ex–hockey player and current recluse Lucian Osmond, and she sees her own pain and yearning reflected in his eyes.

He’s charming when he wants to be but also secretive and gruff, with protective walls as thick as Emma’s own. Despite a growing attraction, they avoid each other.

But then there’s an impromptu nighttime skinny-dip, and Lucian’s luscious homemade tarts and cream cakes start arriving at Emma’s door, tempting her to taste life again…

In trying to stay apart, they only grow closer—and their broken pieces just might fit together and make them whole.

  • The Virgin Who Ruined Lord Gray

The Virgin Who Ruined Lord Gray by Anna Bradley

The Virgin Who Ruined Lord Gray by Anna Bradley is 99c! This is book one in The Swooning Virgins Society series and is a Kindle Daily Deal. Catherine reviewed this one and gave it a C+:

The Virgin Who Ruined Lord Gray straddles the line between traditional historical romance and romantic suspense, and I found it an enjoyable, but flawed read.

Behind the doors of the Clifford Charity School for Wayward Girls, there lies a secret society of brilliant, fearless women who are bringing justice to London’s most corrupt aristocrats, one nobleman at a time…

Other young ladies might occupy their spare time with drawing or needlework, but Sophia Monmouth spends hers scaling rooftops and shadowing suspicious characters. Her objective: to gain information that will free a friend wrongly accused of murder. She hasn’t bargained on being spotted and followed back to the Clifford School by a mysterious earl who holds almost as many secrets as she does.

Tristan Stratford, Lord Gray, earned the nickname the Ghost of Bow Street because no man has ever escaped him. Sophia—all soft curves beneath her disguise—is a unique challenge. Determined to learn the truth about the Clifford School, he joins Sophia in a scheme that leads from Newgate’s cells to the pinnacle of power. But when desire is at odds with justice, succumbing to temptation may lead them both into the heart of danger…

  • Acting on Impulse

Acting on Impulse by Mia Sosa

Acting on Impulse by Mia Sosa is $1.99! This is the first book in the Love on Cue contemporary romance series. I know some of my fellow readers love this series, especially the setup of this one. However, Sarah gave it an DNF. Have you read this one?

The first in a fun, flirty new series from Mia Sosa!

After a very public breakup with a media-hungry politician, fitness trainer Tori Alvarez escapes to Aruba for rest, relaxation, and copious amounts of sex on the beach—the cocktail, that is. She vows to keep her vacation a man-free zone but when a cute guy is seated next to her on the plane, Tori can’t resist a little harmless flirting.

Hollywood heartthrob Carter Stone underwent a dramatic physical transformation for his latest role and it’s clear his stunning seat mate doesn’t recognize the man beneath the shaggy beard and extra lean frame. Now Carter needs help rebuilding his buff physique and Tori is perfect for the job. It doesn’t hurt that she makes his pulse pound in more ways than one.

Sparks are flying, until a pesky paparazzo reveals Carter’s identity. Tori is hurt and pissed. She wants nothing to do with another man in the limelight, but she’s still got to whip him into shape. Can Carter convince Tori he’s worth the threat to her privacy that comes with dating a famous actor, or will Tori chisel him down to nothing before he even gets the chance?

    Grab the popcorn…

  1. Susan says:

The third book in Mary Robinette Kowal’s Lady Astronaut series has been on sale on kindle for a week or so at $2.99. I really enjoyed the first two of this series, and snapped this one up.

  2. lils says:

The Liar’s Dice: A Lotus Palace Mystery (Book 3) is free on Amazon.

This series looks interesting, but I have not read any of them.

  3. Neile says:

Huge Kristen Callihan fan, and loved MAKE IT SWEET.

Also love Jeannie Lin, though I’ve owned this particular book for a while and it hasn’t reached the top of my TBR pile.

Jaine Diamond’s steamy DIRTY LIKE YOU, the first in her rockstar series, is $0.99 on amazon today only. Her characters are emotionally complicated and her books are one-click for me. I’ve probably read this one three or four times.

  4. Barbara says:

MAKE IT SWEET was very good,I thought. The first in the series DEAR ENEMY was equally good. The couple appears briefly in the second book, but it is not necessary to read beforehand.

  5. ten-four says:

Hidden Moon is really lovely, and I’ve enjoyed that whole series. The books do stand alone, although like all series you’ll have a little more context if you’ve read them all!

  6. Sydneysider says:

MAKE IT SWEET is good, as is THE HIDDEN MOON. Both can stand alone.

  7. Z says:

Highly recommend Hidden Moon!! That entire series is one of my go-to comfort reads.
