You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!
This HaBO is from Sarah, who is looking for an older category romance:
I’m looking for a hurt/comfort style romance that I read long ago. We had a health scare with my father, who is going through cancer treatment, and I feel compelled to read some hurt/comfort romances where the heroine is taken care of. I know it sounds weird given the circumstances but I’ve always had the vague memory of one of the first books that I’ve read with this trope. It is an older series romance that was likely out in the 1990s to early 2000s.
It may have been either a Silhouette Special Romance or Harlequin American Romance.
I remember the setup of the story but not how the romance played out. The heroine works in a jewelry shop. The hero is a cop and I’m not sure if the leads have met before the jewelry shop gets robbed. I’m hazy if there is a hostage situation but in the process of ending the robbery the heroine is shot in the back and paralyzed. The hero feels guilt over this and ends up taking care of her during her recovery.
I realize that there is a good chance that the book has never been released in digital form via Harlequin’s treasury line or by the author themselves but maybe the title and/or cover will trigger some memories.
Sound familiar to anyone?
I know I read this one, is it possibly “Strong Arms of the Law” by Dallas Schulze?
It sounds like Lori Foster’s Caught in the Act
From Lori Foster’s web site:
When a robbery goes bad, undercover cop Mick Dawson can’t believe Delilah Piper (aka mystery writer Lela DeBraye) was just in the wrong place at the wrong time—and neither do the perps. The only way to protect her while he investigates what really happened is to stick with her 24/7—and try not to fall for the object of his investigation!
I had forgotten that I had submitted this request. I wrote it at my dad’s hospital bedside while we were waiting for the inevitable last year and I needed a mental break.
Gemma it isn’t the book you mentioned but it is the author! I read the book blurb on Goodreads and there was a list of other books/covers by the author and I found it.
The book is Charity’s Angel by Dallas Schulze.
Thank you so much Gemma. I also thank you Laurel fir the additional book on my to be read list.

Sorry for the double post. The connection was crazy while using my phone this afternoon. Thank you once again to you both for the help and for Smart Bitches for posting my HaBO.
