Wicked and the Wallflower
Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean is $1.99! Amazon says this is a “limited time deal,” so I’m unsure when it actually ends. This is the first book in the Bareknuckle Bastards series and the second book is out next month! Readers really enjoyed the dialogue in this one, but caution that it’s a little slow to start.
When Wicked Comes Calling…
When a mysterious stranger finds his way into her bedchamber and offers his help in landing a duke, Lady Felicity Faircloth agrees—on one condition. She’s seen enough of the world to believe in passion, and won’t accept a marriage without it.
The Wallflower Makes a Dangerous Bargain…
Bastard son of a duke and king of London’s dark streets, Devil has spent a lifetime wielding power and seizing opportunity, and the spinster wallflower is everything he needs to exact a revenge years in the making. All he must do is turn the plain little mouse into an irresistible temptress, set his trap, and destroy his enemy.
For the Promise of Passion…
But there’s nothing plain about Felicity Faircloth, who quickly decides she’d rather have Devil than another. Soon, Devil’s carefully laid plans are in chaos, and he must choose between everything he’s ever wanted…and the only thing he’s ever desired.

Attachments
RECOMMENDED: Attachments by Rainbow Rowell is $2.99! This is a Kindle Daily Deal today and is being price-matched. Sarah really enjoyed this one and gave it an A-, though I know other readers found the hero to have some major boundary issues.
I read this book while flying, and fought the Ambien I’d taken to keep reading it. The best thing about the story is that it’s alarmingly easy to sink into. Epistolary novels work very well on me for that reason. It’s a point of view that, if I like the narrators (and I did), is extremely accessible to my imagination.
“Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you …”
Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It’s company policy.) But they can’t quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.
Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill can’t believe this is his job now- reading other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be “internet security officer,” he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.
When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can’t help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.
By the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself.
What would he say …?

The Prince of Broadway
The Prince of Broadway by Joanna Shupe is $1.99! This is another limited time deal and I’m halfway through reading this one. Here are my current thoughts: great chemistry and I love the hero is pretty upfront about wanting revenge on the heroine’s dad. He tells her so. However, it takes place simultaneously with the events of The Rogue of Fifth Avenue, so the dad in question is still terrible to his daughters.
In the second novel in Joanna Shupe’s the Uptown Girl series, a ruthless casino owner bent on revenge finds his plans upended by a beautiful women who proves to be more determined than he is—and too irresistible to deny.
Powerful casino owner.
Ruthless mastermind.
Destroyer of men.He lives in the shadows…
As the owner of the city’s most exclusive casino, Clayton Madden holds the fortunes of prominent families in the palms of his hands every night. There is one particular family he burns to ruin, however, one that has escaped his grasp… until now.
She is society’s darling…
Florence Greene is no one’s fool. She knows Clayton Madden is using her to ruin her prestigious family… and she’s using him right back. She plans to learn all she can from the mysterious casino owner—then open a casino of her own just for women.
With revenge on his mind, Clay agrees to mentor Florence. However, she soon proves more adept—and more alluring—than Clay bargained for. When his plans are threatened, Clay must decide if he is willing to gamble his empire on love.

Dragon Bound
Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison is $2.99! And this is another price-matched Kindle Daily Deal. It’s the first book in her Elder Races series. I listened to this one on audio and enjoyed it. It’s a bit more on the steamy/erotic side and it definitely reminded me of early 2000s paranormal romance.
Half-human and half-Wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the Wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful—and passionate—of the Elder Races.
As the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they’ve ignited in each other.
Pia knows she must repay Dragos for her trespass, but refuses to become his slave—although she cannot deny wanting him, body and soul.

About the Bareknuckle Bastards, the second book is out. It’s called ” Brazen and the Beast “. 5 stars , in my opinion ! The thrid book is coming out soon. I have it preordered.
Dragon Bound is a fun story that had me laughing aloud at times. It’s a book I’ve reread a number of times. The other book in the series that is an absolute favorite is the fourth book, Oracle’s Moon.
I also liked Attachments by Rainbow Rowell and am now tempted to reread. But, yes, that boundary issues warning is valid.
I highly recommend Dragon Bound (and the entire Elder Races series) – really good. I love the world building and find the characters interesting and three dimensional.
I thought Wicked and Wildflower was ok but nothing special. I read the next book in the series and found it infuriating and unbelievable to the point of stupidity. I think Sarah MacLean sadly does not work for me. Your mileage may vary.
I love Dragon Bound and don’t know how many times I’ve reread it. It’s one of those books I wish I was reading for the first time. The rest of the series is pretty good too, and Oracle Moon is also my second favorite!
I love all Rainbow Rowell’s contemporary romances, but Attachments is hands-down my favorite! I always happy-sigh when I reread it. Not only is the romance great, but the portrayal of Jennifer and Beth’s friendship makes me so happy!
I’ll chime in with yet another rave for Harrison’s Elder Races. It is my second favorite PNR series. I babble about it, when asked. Aside from the presence of that rarest of shifters (Pia! Pia! Pia!) they are emotionally and intellectually satisfying. If you thumb back through the RITA review archives, I raved on a couple of them. This series and its off shoot are autobuys for me.
Echo everyone else on the Dragon Bound love – I just re-read it for the fourth time this weekend, and still so fun!
I could not get into the Bareknuckle Bastards books despite trying, and liking some of MacLean’s books. Wicked and the Wallflower was especially distracting because the guy insisted on calling the heroine “Felicity Faircloth” the entire time. It didn’t have the same ring to it for me as, say, when everyone used “Veronica Mars” for the heroine of the series by the same name. Took me right out of the romance.
Here to also coo over attachments. I also read a large chunk of it flying and had to keep from crying while sitting on a jet way in Philly. Yo guys are just reminding me that I need to revisit it.
Also, Wicked and the Wallflower was wonderful! Got me through jury duty!
I love The elder Races. Pia is a great heroine. But my favourite in that series in one of the short stories: True colors. It’s just really sweet. I think Thea Harrison does lovely short stories.
I should reread “Wicked & the Wallflower” – thanks for the reminder! The heroine, Felicity Faircloth, has a minor role in MacLean’s earlier novel “The Day of the Duchess”, & it was lovely to see her get her own book.
Just double-checked. I’ve already preordered book 3! (Daring & the Duke, for anyone looking.)
Dragon bound is showing as $7.99 on Amazon. Did I miss the deal or is it not available at that price on amazon?
@Jen: I mentioned that it was a Kindle Daily Deal for yesterday, so it was only for a limited time.
