Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hey there, everyone! It’s links time!

How are we in September already? Some personal news, I’ve taken a part-time bookselling position at a local indie and I’m loving it. It’s all part of my plan to have romance take over the world. However, the staff discount is very dangerous so far.

Looking for some queer paranormal romance recommendations? Author Hailey Turner has you covered and surprisingly, all of these books are new to me!

Love in Panels is running a charity auction to raise money for RAICES. What a great cause! There are some awesome items up for bidding: ad space for authors, signed books, and even a foodie crawl in NYC.

Sarah: Hello, shoe folks. I’m sorry to say, if you like Rothy’s (and I do indeed) they’ve announced a new style. The Chelsea is a sneaker in a bootie style, and I’m so very tempted to get myself a pair.

An ankle bootie sneaker in a variegated plum red with elastic at the ankle and a loop to pull on and off, with a thick white sole They're so freaking cute.

I have three pair of Rothy’s, all point-style flats in purple, red, and a blue print. I wear them constantly at conferences, as the knit (which is made of recycle water bottles) stretches to accommodate that which always happens to my feet after four days of walking around a hotel (and eating travel food). Plus they’re machine washable so when they get dirty, I can toss them in a wash cycle and they’re pristine afterward.

They’re pricey, but I haven’t bought any other shoes since finding them, and they’ve become a staple for my professional wardrobe. If you’d like to order yourself some, here is a link for $20 off your order. (NB: affiliate link that credits me $20 as well, so cheers!)

You have to see this Regency Vice Admiral Holdo cosplay! I’m in awe of cosplayers and their endless creativity.

This of this as a mini-Stuff You Should Be Watching because I am obsessed with A Black Lady Sketch Show on HBO. You can watch many of the sketches on HBO’s YouTube channel. This one is a recent favorite:

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

I noticed something in Firefox. My adblocker resets it’s data when it updates, so I had to re-enable youtube and this site’s ad permissions.

Don’t forget to check your settings everyone.

  2. denise says:

I tried Rothy’s they don’t work for wide feet (my feet are wide, not fat–there’s a difference). I so wanted to wear them. The return policy is amazing!

  3. MaryK says:

@denise – Thanks for that info. I was eyeing the Rothy’s and I have wide feet.

Martha Wells tweeted a Murderbot poem written by someone at her publisher. It’s adorable.

@Nicolette: Thank you for updating to include us in your ad permissions! I appreciate that very much.

And I’m so sorry Rothy’s didn’t work for some of you! That’s really too bad. I’m sorry. If it helps anyone else, I have relatively standard width feet, but they are whoa flat, and I find the point flats to be more comfortable than most.

  5. Rae Alley says:

Adding my voice to Rothy’s…their ballet flats have gotten me through having a pinched nerve in my back meaning I had/have limited functionality in my toes. They’re amazing…and you can wash the inserts separately & buy back ups. I’ve got the black honeycomb and they are my staple.
