  • Need You Now

Need You Now by Nicole Helm

Need You Now by Nicole Helm is 99c! This is the first book in the Mile High Romance series. It’s a contemporary romance with opposites attract elements. Readers seem divided on the hero. Some loved his grump nature, while others thought his grumpiness bordered on sad and rude.

    He’s mountain-tough. She’s city-smart. The sparks are about to fly . . .

Only the most resilient of souls could breathe new life into an all-but-forgotten town nestled in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains—but what they get in return might be worth the heartache it takes to make it happen . . .

Gracely, Colorado, was once a booming mining town. No one knows that better than Brandon Evans. His father’s company kept the town thriving for years—until Brandon threatened to expose his illegal practices and drove him away. Everyone blames Brandon and his brother for turning Gracely into a ghost town—but the tenacious residents cling to a long-held legend about the land’s healing powers. And Brandon has a plan to spin that legend into reality . . .

Lilly Preston took a leap of faith and moved to Gracely a year ago to save her nephew from an abusive situation. She would do anything for him, even sacrifice her glamorous job. Reluctantly, the former PR hot shot takes a job at the ruggedly handsome Evans brothers’ Mile High Adventures, a company offering restorative Rocky Mountain vacations.

Brandon thinks PR is pointless, and Lilly knows less than nothing about the outdoors. Which is exactly why they need each other—in ways neither ever imagined . . .

  • A Duke to Remember

A Duke to Remember by Kelly Bowen

A Duke to Remember by Kelly Bowen is $1.99! This is the second book in A Season for Scandal series and won the 2017 RITA in the Short Historical category. During our RITA reader challenge, it received B+ and B- grades. I read this one for a publication and while it was sweet, there was a lot going on that left me confused at times.

    Love takes the stage…

Elise deVries is not what she seems. By night, the actress captivates London theatergoers with her chameleon-like ability to slip inside her characters. By day, she uses her mastery of disguise to work undercover for Chegarre & Associates, an elite agency known for its discreet handling of indelicate scandals. But when Elise is tasked with locating the missing Duke of Ashland, she finds herself center stage in a real-life drama.

Noah Ellery left the glamour of the London aristocracy to pursue a simpler life in the country. He’s managed to avoid any complications or entanglements—that is, until he lays eyes on Elise and realizes there’s more to this beautiful woman than meets the eye. But when Elise reveals her real identity—and her true feelings for him—the runaway duke must confront the past he left behind . . . to keep the woman he loves forever.

  • Forever Your Earl

Forever Your Earl by Eva Leigh

RECOMMENDED: Forever Your Earl by Eva Leigh is $1.99! A Kindle Daily Deal, let’s hope this is matched elsewhere. This is the first book in The Wicked Quills of London series and Redheadedgirl gave it an A:

Zoe Archer has been one of my favorite authors since that one time she basically saved my sanity (even if she was also the indirect cause of one of the worst reading experiences of my life). No matter what, I can always count on her for strong, determined heroines with all sorts of agency, and heroes that also were strong and worthy and respectful of the women that chose them. While I like the adventure romances of Zoe Archer very much, you can all imagine my grabby hands when she announced that she was going to write straight historicals under the name Eva Leigh.

Eva Leigh’s irresistible new series introduces the Wicked Quills of London: a group of bold, brilliant female writers whose spirited allure is beyond seductive…

Eleanor Hawke loves a good scandal. And readers of her successful gossip rag live for the exploits of her favorite subject: Daniel Balfour, the notorious Earl of Ashford. So when the earl himself marches into her office and invites her to experience his illicit pursuits firsthand, Eleanor is stunned. Gambling hells, phaeton races, masquerades . . . What more could a scandal writer want than a secret look into the life of this devilishly handsome rake?

Daniel has secrets, and if The Hawk’s Eye gets wind of them, a man’s life could be at stake. And what better way to distract a gossip than by feeding her the scandal she desperately craves? But Daniel never expected the sharp mind and biting wit of the beautiful writer, and their desire for each other threatens even his best-laid plans.

But when Eleanor learns the truth of his deception, Daniel will do anything to prove a romance between a commoner and an earl could really last forever.

  1. A romance about figure skating? Yes, please! The Cutting Edge is one of my favorite sports movies, and I’m really looking forward to watching the Winter Olympics.

  2. SusanH says:

I love figure skating, but the random Cyrillic letters on the cover are making my eyes cross. It’s particularly bad on the word shining, since they used a “short I” letter to replace the N. The word now has a long I followed by three short I’s in a row.

  3. KB says:

Maybe I have a touch of Winter Olympics Fever but I went right ahead and one-clicked the figure skating romance! I’m also looking forward to Shot On Gold by Jaci Burton which is another skating-based book that involves an Olympic figure skater and a hockey player. YES.

  4. cleo says:

    @Jennifer Estep – I LOVE The Cutting Edge! Two sports romances that I’ve read recently have a similar vibe;

Edge of Glory by Rachel Spangler is an ff between two Olympic athletes in different sports, snow boarding and alpine skiing. They meet at an Olympic training center and it’s got an odd-couple, forced proximity vibe.

Heels over Head by Elyse Springer – mm about two top divers training over the same coach.

  5. @Amanda says:

@KB: I preordered Shot on Gold yesterday to have it in time for my reading retreat!

  6. cleo says:

@cleo – that should be training *under* the same coach.

One diver is super intense and has been training for the Olympics since he was like 7 and the other is a laid back prodigy who kind of fell into diving – sparks fly when their coach starts them training as a synchronized pair. Parts really reminded me of The Cutting Edge, what with the rivals to lovers and super hard training together. I think this may be the first book by the author – there were a few writing issues and maybe too much plot for one book but I found it fun and compelling.

  7. Ren Benton says:

FIRST GRAVE ON THE RIGHT and SECOND GRAVE ON THE LEFT by Darynda Jones are $2.99 apiece.

  8. Carol S. says:

    @Jennifer Estep: TOE PICK!!

  9. Gemma says:

You had me at “figure skating”.

  10. Rebecca says:

All 3 books of Eva Leigh’s series are $1.99. Clickety Click, book 3 being on my wish list forever!

  11. Thanks for the recommendations, everyone. I’ll have to check out those books too.

  12. The Other Kate says:

To anyone who reads Cyrillic, that second entry is going to look like “Shiyiiyig Thyaough.”

  13. TAM says:

I really enjoyed previous books in Harmon’s ice-skating series, gleefully snaffling this one up!

  14. Stefka says:

Yeah, I completely agree that that Cyrillic mishmash is a visual atrocity…especially since all of the capital H’s read as “N” in Cyrillic. So actually it could be “Sniyiyg Tnyaougn.” [facepalm]
(Seriously, this gimmick makes me twitchy!)

But very glad to snatch up the Kelly Bowen– that one’s been on my wish list!

  15. Ellie says:

I just finished the Kelly Bowen. It did have a lot going on, but overall it was cute. I don’t know that I liked it as much as I liked her Lords of Worth series, but that may be because I like to start with the first book in the series and this is the second. I have not read books one and three.
