  • My Lady Quicksilver

My Lady Quicksilver by Bec McMaster

My Lady Quicksilver by Bec McMaster is $1.99! This is the third book in the London Steampunk series. I’m not sure if it can be read as a standalone, so maybe the Bitchery can help with that question. Readers loved the world McMaster created, but some found they didn’t enjoy the main couple as much as previous books. The first book is also on sale for $1.88!

Determined to destroy the Echelon she despises, Rosalind Fairchild is on seemingly easy mission. Get in. Uncover the secrets of her brother’s disappearance. And get out.

In order to infiltrate the Nighthawks and find their leader, Sir Jasper Lynch, Rosalind will pose as their secretary. But she doesn’t count on Lynch being such a dangerously charismatic man, challenging her at every turn, forcing her to re-evaluate everything she knows about the enemy.

He could be her most dangerous nemesis—or the ally she never dreamed existed.

  • Rebellious Desire

    Rebellious Desire by Julie Garwood

Rebellious Desire by Julie Garwood is $1.99! This is a Regency romance that was first released in the 80s and has since gotten a cover facelift. Garwood fans say this isn’t their favorite book of hers, while others enjoyed the mystery element added to the romance. Have you read this one? What did you think?

Before there was Downton Abbey, there was Rebellious Desire…in this classic Regency romance from bestselling author Julie Garwood, an American heiress must land a titled lord.

Of all the dukes in England, Jered Marcus Benton, the Duke of Bradford, was the wealthiest, most handsome—and most arrogant. And of all London’s ladies, he wanted the tender obedience of only one—Caroline Richmond.

She was a ravishing beauty from Boston, with a mysterious past and a fiery spirit. Drawn to the powerful duke, undeterred by his presumptuous airs, Caroline was determined to win his lasting love. But Bradford would bend to no woman—until a deadly intrigue drew them enticingly close. Now, united against a common enemy, they would discover the power of the magnificent attraction that brought them together…a desire born in danger, but destined to flame into love!

  • Spider’s Bite

    Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep

Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep is 99c! If you like urban fantasy series featuring supreme asskicking on the part of the heroine, you’d like this one: Gin Blanco is an assassin who wields supernatural powers. And while some readers said the first book can be hard to get into, they say the the following books only get better. This is book 1 in the Elemental Assassin series, and it has a 3.8-star average.

“My name is Gin, and I kill people.”

My name is Gin Blanco. They call me the Spider—the most feared assassin in the South (and a part-time cook at the Pork Pit BBQ joint.) As a Stone elemental, I can hear the whispers of the gravel beneath my feet and feel the vibrations of the soaring mountains above me, though I don’t use my powers on the job unless I absolutely have to. Call it professional pride.

After a ruthless Air elemental double-crossed me and killed my handler, I’m out for revenge. And I’ll exterminate anyone who gets in my way. I may look hot in a miniskirt, but I’m still one of the bad guys. Which is why I’m in trouble when irresistibly rugged Detective Donovan Caine agrees to help. The last thing a coldhearted killer needs when she’s battling a magic more powerful than her own is a sexy distraction… especially when he wants her dead just as much as the enemy.

  • Zero to Sixty

Zero to Sixty by Marie Harte

Zero to Sixty by Marie Harte is $1.25 at Amazon and $1.99 at other vendors! This is a contemporary romance with a lonely mechanic hero. There’s also an adorable stray dog named Cookie. This can definitely be read as a standalone, but some found the hero a little too gruff for their liking. I’ve enjoyed this series and, if you’re looking to try it, the first book is FREE and the second book is only $0.62!

BAD BOY SAM + GOOD GIRL IVY =
    LEARNING TO LOVE AGAIN

After her last disaster of a relationship, Ivy Stephens is content being single. She has her job, her apartment-and the cute little puppy she’s seen hanging around. When he escapes, she finds her search efforts aided by a big, burly, devastatingly handsome man. One who claims a prior claim on her dog.

Sam Hamilton is at loose ends since his best friend fell in love. He finds a sense of purpose in rescuing strays. The puppy who’s stolen his heart just happens to run into blond, beautiful Ivy. And Sam can’t help hoping she’ll take in one more stray-him-for good.

  1. Ren Benton says:

For $2.99, I grabbed Plenty, which is a vegetable cookbook by meat-eating chef Yotam Ottolenghi (Amazon, Barnes, and Google are discounted, but not Kobo at this time). He lays out in the intro his use of eggs and cheese and why that may not be for everyone on the vegetarian spectrum. The ado about “a photo for every recipe” is a bit misleading–sometimes the photo accompanying a recipe is of a trip to the farmer’s market rather than the dish in question. I am super stoked about stuffed onions, I must say.

  2. Marci says:

Julie Garwood’s The Bride and The Secret are also both $1.99 right now on Amazon. I highly recommend these if you’ve never read a Garwood before. They are a couple of my favorite re-reads.

  3. Heather S says:

Estep’s series is good, but if you tend to binge read like I do, be warned: she rehashes previous events in previous books and describes the characters all over again in EVERY book. It’s great if you happen to pick up the series at a later book, but annoying if you’ve read the same things eight or ten times in short order. It is actually why I put the series down a while back and haven’t started it again.

  4. L. says:

I would recommend Garwood’s The Bride over Rebellious Desire. Spend your two bucks wisely.

  5. Christine says:

I would highly, highly recommend Bec McMaster her steampunk books quickly became some of my best loved and most reread books in the past few years. Definitely start with Kiss Of Steel- for $1.88 it’s a steal! Scoop up My Lady Quicksilver to read after you have read at least the first book (even better in order).

  6. The Other Kate says:

My Lady Quicksilver is my favorite of the 10+ Bec Mcmaster books I’ve read. Both the hero and heroine are equally badass, and the hero is a great example of a man with considerable amounts of passion keeping himself under iron control . . . Until she drives him crazy/gives him a safe place to let go of his discipline. Would strongly recommend!

  7. Trefoil says:

The eggplant recipe from the cover of Plenty is amazing and so very simple. I seriously considered the kindle version even though I own the physical book.

  8. Michellw says:

While Bec McMaster’s books all have a very tidy ending-they do contain spoilers for previous books if you read them out of order. But read whatever you can get your hands on-these are so good! Strong women, great storylines, amazing writing, and her world building is incredible. Love these books.
