Links: Announcements, The Ripped Bodice, & Nicole Byer

Workspace with computer, journal, books, coffee, and glasses.Hello there! It’s Wednesday Links time! RWA18 in Denver is over. Sarah was there and for those who attended, I hope you had a wonderful time. I was following along on Twitter and a little jealous of all the fun everyone was having.

Registration for BookLover’s Con is officially open! I’m personally very excited about the authors announced so far. As of right now, I’ll be there, as will Sarah and Elyse. Hope you can make it out to New Orleans next year!

Congratulations to the 2018 RITA Award and Golden Heart winners! You can see all of the winners here! What do you think of the winners? Have you read any of them?

In the New York area and love romance novels? WORD Bookstore in Brooklyn has announced a series of four “classes” with Professor Jayashree Kamble on “Women and Work in Romance Novels.” It sounds fascinating and I’m bummed I can’t attend. The books being discussed are Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas, My Beautiful Enemy by Sherry Thomas, A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole, and Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid.

Nicole Byer is the hilarious host of Nailed It! If you haven’t watched the Netflix show, I highly recommend it. She recently did an interview over at Shondaland and it. is. EVERYTHING.

If you had to impress someone on a first date, what kind of cake would you bring them?

NB: I would bring them a bundt cake, because it’s got a hole in it, and I’d put it on their dick and then eat around it and suck it. You want to print that?

I want to print that very badly.

NB: I’ll say something normal, OK… no, that’s the answer and I won’t change it.

Have you watched the second season of Nailed It! yet?

Did you see that we got to put together a recommendation wall at The Ripped Bodice?! It was so much fun! Be sure to click the link to see all the titles.

Don’t forget to share what super cool things you’ve seen, read, or listened to this week! And if you have anything you think we’d like to post on a future Wednesday Links, send it my way!

Thought this was interesting—the emergence of Rom-Coms with #metoo awareness:

Nicole Byer’s instagram and her podcast are also fantastic. Her podcast is called “Why won’t you date me?”.

Nicole Byer is all sorts of funny. And I loved discovering that she knows less about cakes than some Nailed it contestants.

And then she goes and says this: “Wes acts like [he] doesn’t like the attention, but he loves it. He loves it.” That comment feels like biting an egg-shell shard in an otherwise perfect cookie.

I found this article interesting (be aware, it includes very explicit discussion of sexual activity):

I don’t want to buy a house, but I want to be friends with these people, based on the pictures.
