If you need a last minute gift, we are here to help you out with 2021 Smart Bitches Reading Time Gift Certificates!
Here’s a picture of one before you go downloading Ye Olde PDFe:
You like? I hope so! There are three denominations of reading time: 30, 60, or 90 minutes. The giver’s job, upon redemption, is to allow the recipient reading time, free of distractions. They’re backed by the support and enthusiasm of Smart Bitches, though they aren’t actual legal tender. They are meant to make giving someone a bit of reading time easy and fun – and paired with other wonderful reading items, like books, gift cards, fluffy blankets, tea, or slippers, they’d make a lovely gift.
You can download a one-page PDF for printing here (right click and save-as)(300kb PDF). It should look equally spiffy in black and white or color. I would love to hear – either in the comments or via email – whom you might give these to, and what the reaction is. I hope they make people happy.
Other gift certificate ideas? I HAVE PLENTY:
- Local businesses, especially crafting, fabric, and bookstores that depend on local patrons.
- Obvious choice: Bookshop.org!
- Heifer.org allows you to purchase gift cards. Recipients use them to purchase farm animals for people around the world.
- Shana says, “I received a gift card from Neighborhood Fiber Company this year and it was very fun and easy to redeem. The shipping was super fast, too. I appreciated it because I love their yarn, and they sell needles and notions.”
- Shana has another great suggestion: “Also, I just thought of a Door Dash gift certificate. I got one during a particularly tough week, and discovered that their Dash Mart sells a million kinds of ice cream.”
- I’ve done something similar, too, when friends are going through some tough times, or when they have brand new babies: I find out their favorite restaurant and try to get them a gift card there. Barring that, Door Dash or GrubHub or similar gift certificates make a lovely gift.
Got ideas? Drop ’em in the comments, as you’re all very clever and thoughtful people.
Happy holidays!
