Help A Bitch Out

HaBO: Hero Gets into Bar Fight with Best Friend

This HaBO is from Smiley, who is hoping to find this romance:

I am desperately looking for a book that had these scenes.

1. The book is part of a series and contains characters from prior series.

2. The protagonist is a war veteran who returns home.

3. He becomes involved romantically with the sister of one of his friends.

4. There is a scene where the protagonist gets into a fight at a bar and his best friend absolutely blows up at his sister and she goes home.

5. The sister feels neglected by her brother, who struggles with PTSD and anger issues.

6. The protagonist leaves and returns for a happy ending.

Does anyone else recognize these details?

    Sounds like a Mary Balogh,
I don’t know which one, sounds like tropes she would use

  2. Rhiannon Kaye says:

Do we know if this is historical or contemporary? Thanks.

  3. KarenF says:

I don’t have an answer, but it sort of feels like one of the later Virgin River books (Robyn Carr). Most of the protagonists were war veterans.

  4. denise says:

Any chance it was a Fool’s Gold book? There was a least one war vet with PTSD. One of those billionaires.

  5. denise says:

Also reminds me of books set in Marietta, various authors use the setting, and characters show up in different books.

  6. Maureen says:

I’m thinking it might be a contemporary since they are at a bar for a fight? I feel like this could be so many books, this is a tough one.

  7. LJO says:

Maybe Laura Kaye or Harper Sloan?
