  • Fangirl Down

    Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey

Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey is $1.99! This is book one in the Big Shots series and features a golfer, which we don’t often see in sports romance. I think I remember Elyse reading and liking this one (Elyse, please correct me if I’m wrong!). Apologies if this is an expiring KDD.

Wells Whitaker was once golf’s hottest rising star, but lately, all he has to show for his “promising” career is a killer hangover, a collection of broken clubs, and one remaining supporter. No matter how bad he plays, the beautiful, sunny redhead is always on the sidelines. He curses, she cheers. He scowls, she smiles. But when Wells quits in a blaze of glory and his fangirl finally goes home, he knows he made the greatest mistake of his life.

Josephine Doyle believed in the gorgeous, grumpy golfer, even when he didn’t believe in himself. Yet after he throws in the towel, she begins to wonder if her faith was misplaced. Then a determined Wells shows up at her door with a wild proposal: be his new caddy, help him turn his game around, and split the prize money. And considering Josephine’s professional and personal life is in shambles, she could really use the cash…

As they travel together, spending days on the green and nights in neighboring hotel rooms, sparks fly. Before long, they’re inseparable, Wells starts winning again, and Josephine is surprised to find a sweet, thoughtful guy underneath his gruff, growly exterior. This hot man wants to brush her hair, feed her snacks, and take bubble baths together? Is this real life? But Wells is technically her boss and an athlete falling for his fangirl would be ridiculous… right?

  • The Raven Prince

The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt

The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt is 99c! Readers who love it especially like that the hero and heroine are both a bit unconventional: neither of them is superbly good-looking, a fact that has influenced their lives in several ways, and both are over thirty.

There comes a time in a woman’s life when she must do the unthinkable – and find employment. For the widowed Anna Wren, that means taking a job as female secretary for the Earl of Swartingham.

Secretaries are always male – never female – as Anna well knows but the real downfall of her career is the realization that she is falling in love with Edward de Raaf – the Earl. But when she realizes that he is going to visit a brothel in London to take care of his ‘manly’ desires, Anna sees red – and decides to take advantage of the opportunity to also take care of her ‘womanly’ desires – with the Earl as her unknowing lover.

But the Earl has another reason for going to London. He is formalising his betrothal and trying (with little success) to forget about a secretary that has no right being female. Unhandsome, he knows that no woman wants him.

Except for the mysterious lady with whom he spent two unforgettable nights at Aphrodite’s Grotto, the most scandalous brothel in London. But when Anna’s plan is revealed, a bit of blackmail is thrown into the mix, a proposal is rejected and even the Earl himself will be unprepared for the intrigues that ensnare them.

  • The Emperor and the Endless Palace

The Emperor and the Endless Palace by Justinian Huang

The Emperor and the Endless Palace by Justinian Huang is $2.99! This was mentioned back in March in Hide Your Wallet. I also remember some big publicity pushes in my inbox about this one. However, reviews seem pretty divided. If you read this one, care to weigh in?

“What if I told you that the feeling we call love is actually the feeling of metaphysical recognition, when your soul remembers someone from a previous life?”

In the year 4 BCE, an ambitious courtier is called upon to seduce the young emperor—but quickly discovers they are both ruled by blood, sex and intrigue.

In 1740, a lonely innkeeper agrees to help a mysterious visitor procure a rare medicine, only to unleash an otherworldly terror instead.

And in present-day Los Angeles, a college student meets a beautiful stranger and cannot shake the feeling they’ve met before.

Across these seemingly unrelated timelines woven together only by the twists and turns of fate, two men are reborn, lifetime after lifetime. Within the treacherous walls of an ancient palace and the boundless forests of the Asian wilderness to the heart-pounding cement floors of underground rave scenes, our lovers are inexplicably drawn to each other, constantly tested by the worlds around them.

As their many lives intertwine, they begin to realize the power of their undying love—a power that transcends time itself…but one that might consume them both.

An unpredictable roller coaster of a debut novel, The Emperor and the Endless Palace is a genre-bending romantasy that challenges everything we think we know about true love.

  • Fierce & Fabulous

Fierce & Fabulous by Elizabeth Varlet

Fierce & Fabulous by Elizabeth Varlet is 99c! This is the first book in a M/M erotic contemporary series. I’m not 100% on if it’s an erotic romance or not, but a lot of reviews mention the high amount of sex and sexual content, if you happen to prefer that in your romances.

The first in a scorching new male/male series by Elizabeth Varlet. Behind the Sassy Boyz’s seductive smiles and sinful dance moves are desires that will leave readers breathless.

Fitch Donovan never thought a lap dance could change his life, but from the moment the gorgeous dancer’s lips touch his, his world comes screeching to a halt. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t shake the desire that rocks him to his core. He’s longed for this passion all his life—he just never dreamed he’d find it with another man.

Sharing a soul-shaking kiss with a straight boy is the kind of drama Ansel Becke just doesn’t need. Spotlights aren’t made for two and Ansel prefers to keep things on a one-night-only basis. So when Fitch shows up asking for an encore, Ansel knows he should send his gorgeous ass packing.

Though Ansel tries to pretend that what’s between him and Fitch is far from fabulous, there’s something about the big, burly contractor that makes Ansel’s world sparkle in a way no amount of glitter ever could. And Fitch will do whatever it takes to convince Ansel that when the thing you need most in the world falls right into your lap, you’d be a fool to let it go.

  1. Rebecca F says:

I liked The Emperor and the Endless Palace. I will say, however, that it isn’t a romance based on the ending.

  2. DiscoDollyDeb says:

I wouldn’t call FIERCE & FABULOUS an erotic romance. I’d say it’s more a bi-awakening romance with a fairly high heat level. But, then again, the definition of what constitutes “erotic” is always changing.

  3. Gill says:

I enjoyed those Elizabeth Varlet books. I was awaiting a 5th book but she has disappeared. No on line presence to speak of

  4. Rhonda says:

I think I might have like The Emperor and the Endless Palace if it had been marketed as fantasy, not romantasy. The author apparently commented that he didn’t know he was writing romantasy – he wasn’t. I agree with the previous commenter that it is not a romance.

  5. MariaK says:

I loved THE RAVEN PRINCE. Beautifully written, great dialog, steamy love scenes. I think this might have been her debut? If so, wow. Big fan of EH and this is a favorite.

Came to put No HEA warning sticker on The Emperor and the Endless Palace, see the work is already done…
That said, it is an interesting book and I enjoyed it, right up until the end.

  8. Vicki says:

The Tamarind Seed by Evelyn Anthony is 1.99 on kindle today. I liked it a lot as a younger woman and still find it very readable though somewhat dated.

Irresistibly Risky by Julie Saman is 0.99 tiday on kindle. I like this author a lot. This, while not my favorite of the series, is still quite good He is a rock star turned famous football player (I know, just go with it), and she is an orthopedic surgeon. Their meet cute is the poster child for why one does not take muscle relaxants with alcohol if they are planning a one-night stand.
