  • Silver Silence

    Silver Silence by Nalini Singh

Silver Silence by Nalini Singh is $1.99! Big thank you to everyone who let us know about this sale and hopefully it’s still valid. This is the start to the first Psy-Changeling Trilogy. If you’re wondering whether you can start here, the answer is yes. Elyse did, though still have some questions, and gave it a B:

I think Silver Silence will be a big hit with readers of the series, and a little less effective with newcomers. I did love the healthy portrayal of an alpha hero, though, and found the world of the bear shifters to be fun and fascinating.

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh introduces a bold new chapter in her extraordinary paranormal romance saga with the Psy-Changeling Trinity series. Wild passion will encounter the darkest of betrayal…

Control. Precision. Family. These are the principles that drive Silver Mercant. At a time when the fledgling Trinity Accord seeks to unite a divided world, with Silver playing a crucial role as director of a worldwide emergency response network, wildness and chaos are the last things she needs in her life. But that’s exactly what Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater Bears, brings with him.

Valentin has never met a more fascinating woman. Though Silver is ruled by Silence—her mind clear of all emotion—Valentin senses a whisper of fire around her. That’s what keeps him climbing apartment buildings to be near her. But when a shadow assassin almost succeeds in poisoning Silver, the stakes become deadly serious…and Silver finds herself in the heart of a powerful bear clan.

Her would-be assassin has no idea what their poison has unleashed…

  • Appointment in Bath

Appointment in Bath by Mimi Matthews

Appointment in Bath by Mimi Matthews is 99c! This is book four in the Somerset Stories series. Lara gave this one a C, due a terrible character from previous books being crucial to the main characters of this one.

A chance meeting between the sheltered daughter and the forward-thinking son of rival Victorian families sparks a forbidden romance in USA Today bestselling author Mimi Matthews’s fourth book in her acclaimed Somerset Stories series.

Shy and stammering Meg Burton-Smythe has spent the whole of her life living on the fringes of local society. She’s more comfortable with her daydreams than she is with people. But when a dashing, golden-haired hero rides to her rescue one morning, she dares to hope that her dreams might finally come true. There’s only one problem: her handsome rescuer is the son of her father’s sworn enemy.

Ivo Beresford doesn’t believe in clinging to the past. Freshly returned from a lengthy grand tour, he’s looking to the future, eager to spearhead the building of a new railway extension in Somersetshire. But an unexpected encounter with Meg Burton-Smythe, the isolated only daughter of his parents’ oldest foe, sets the past and the future colliding.

Resolved to put ancient grudges to rest—at least where innocent young ladies are concerned—Ivo encourages lonely Meg to embark on a secret acquaintance. After all, what harm can a friendship do? It isn’t as though there’s any danger of the two of them falling in love…

  • The Prey of Gods

The Prey of Gods by Nicky Drayden

The Prey of the Gods by Nicky Drayden is $2.99! Definitely getting some District 9 vibes from this one. Judging by Goodreads reviews, readers loved the world building and ensemble cast. Have you read this one?

In South Africa, the future looks promising. Personal robots are making life easier for the working class. The government is harnessing renewable energy to provide infrastructure for the poor. And in the bustling coastal town of Port Elizabeth, the economy is booming thanks to the genetic engineering industry which has found a welcome home there. Yes—the days to come are looking very good for South Africans. That is, if they can survive the present challenges:

A new hallucinogenic drug sweeping the country . . .

    An emerging AI uprising . . .

And an ancient demigoddess hellbent on regaining her former status by preying on the blood and sweat (but mostly blood) of every human she encounters.

It’s up to a young Zulu girl powerful enough to destroy her entire township, a queer teen plagued with the ability to control minds, a pop diva with serious daddy issues, and a politician with even more serious mommy issues to band together to ensure there’s a future left to worry about.

  • Practice Makes Perfect

Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams

Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams is $1.99 ! This is a small town romance with a heroine wanting to rehab her “boring” image. I am personally not a big fan of small town romances, but I may be in the minority.

Annie Walker is on a quest to find her perfect match-someone who nicely compliments her happy, quiet life running her flower shop in Rome, Kentucky. Unfortunately, she worries her goal might be too far out of reach when she overhears her date saying she is “sounbelievably boring.” Is it too late to become flirtatious and fun like the leading ladies in her favorite romance movies? Maybe she only needs a little practice…and Annie has the perfect person in mind to become her tutor: Will Griffin.

Will–the flirtatious, tattooed, and absolutely gorgeous bodyguard–is temporarily back in Rome, providing security for Amelia Rose as excitement grows for her upcoming marriage to Noah Walker. He has one personal objective during his time in town: stay away from Annie Walker. But no sooner than he gets settled, Will soon finds himself not only breaking his rule, but tasked with far more than simply providing security.

Will wants no part in changing the sweet and lovely Annie, but he can’t bring himself to say no to her request, so he officially agrees to teach her how to be the next leading lady of Rome, Kentucky, and find the love of her life-even if he doesn’t believe in love himself. Between faking a relationship so the meddling town doesn’t catch on to what’s really happening on their practice dates, and tutoring lessons that convince Annie to add passion to her list of must-haves in a mate, it doesn’t take long for the lines of their friendship to blur…

  1. Maria F says:

Silver Silence is the first book of the Trinity arc of the Psy-Changeling series. I think I’ve seen Singh describe the Trinity arc as Season Two of Psy-Changeling books. A good place to start for new readers, I think?

  2. Ms. M says:

Silver Silence was my first Psy-Changeling book and it made for a good entry to the series. I’ve since read a number of earlier and later installments. This is one of my faves because the best community is pretty lovable and hopefully without giving away too much, this is a couple that has to put in twice the effort to get their HEA.

  3. Kolforin says:

PRACTICE MAKE PERFECT: “providing security for Amelia Rose as excitement grows for her upcoming marriage to Noah Walker” — Are these in-story famous people (and if so, why are they in this town)? Local notables (but why would they need security)? Real-world famous people I don’t know? (Wikipedia has an Amelia Rose Baldwin and no Noah Walker.) Come on, blurb, get it together!

  4. Michael I says:

Amelia Rose and Noah Walker are the main characters from the first book in this series (Practice Makes Perfect is the second book). The need for security and the reason for the excitement can be deduced from the description for the first book.

  5. Kolforin says:
