  • Party of Two

Party of Two by Jasmine Guillory

Party of Two by Jasmine Guillory is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance that operates as a standalone. Grab this one if you’re looking to collect the entire Guillory collection.

A chance meeting with a handsome stranger turns into a whirlwind affair that gets everyone talking.

Dating is the last thing on Olivia Monroe’s mind when she moves to LA to start her own law firm. But when she meets a gorgeous man at a hotel bar and they spend the entire night flirting, she discovers too late that he is none other than hotshot junior senator Max Powell. Olivia has zero interest in dating a politician, but when a cake arrives at her office with the cutest message, she can’t resist—it is chocolate cake, after all.

Olivia is surprised to find that Max is sweet, funny, and noble—not just some privileged white politician she assumed him to be. Because of Max’s high-profile job, they start seeing each other secretly, which leads to clandestine dates and silly disguises. But when they finally go public, the intense media scrutiny means people are now digging up her rocky past and criticizing her job, even her suitability as a trophy girlfriend. Olivia knows what she has with Max is something special, but is it strong enough to survive the heat of the spotlight?

  • Just Last Night

Just Last Night by Mhairi McFarlane

Just Last Night by Mhairi McFarlane is $1.99! This is a standalone book and not part of series. However, I feel like the book description kind of gives us nothing? It definitely, though, seems more focused on the main character and not necessarily the roamnce.

Eve, Justin, Susie, and Ed have been friends since they were teenagers. Now in their thirties, the four are as close as ever, Thursday pub trivia night is sacred, and Eve is still secretly in love with Ed. Maybe she should have moved on by now, but she can’t stop thinking about what could have been. And she knows Ed still thinks about it, too.

But then, in an instant, their lives are changed forever.

In the aftermath, Eve’s world is upended. As stunning secrets are revealed, she begins to wonder if she really knew her friends as well as she thought. And when someone from the past comes back into her life, Eve’s future veers in a surprising new direction…

They say every love story starts with a single moment. What if it was just last night?

  • The Chemist

    The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer

The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer is $1.99! This was mentioned briefly in November 2016’s Hide Your Wallet. Readers loved the premise of a spy thriller, but found that it started rather slowly with too much exposition

In this gripping page-turner, an ex-agent on the run from her former employers must take one more case to clear her name and save her life.

She used to work for the U.S. government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn’t even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.

Now, she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They’ve killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

When her former handler offers her a way out, she realizes it’s her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers. To her horror, the information she acquires only makes her situation more dangerous.

Resolving to meet the threat head on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life, but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of.

In this tautly plotted novel, Meyer creates a fierce and fascinating new heroine with a very specialized skill set. And she shows once again why she’s one of the world’s bestselling authors.

  • The Importance of Being Wicked

The Importance of Being Wicked by Miranda Neville

The Importance of Being Wicked by Miranda Neville is $1.99! This is book one in The Wild Quartet historical romance series. Have you read this series? Do you have a favorite Neville romance?

The rules of society don’t apply to Caro and her coterie of bold men and daring women. But when passions flare, even the strongest will surrender to the law of love…

Thomas, Duke of Castleton, has every intention of wedding a prim and proper heiress. That is, until he sets eyes on the heiress’s cousin, easily the least proper woman he’s ever met. His devotion to family duty is no defense against the red-headed vixen whose greatest asset seems to be a talent for trouble…

Caroline Townsend has no patience for the oh-so-suitable (and boring) men of the ton. So when the handsome but stuffy duke arrives at her doorstep, she decides to put him to the test. But her scandalous exploits awaken a desire in Thomas he never knew he had. Suddenly Caro finds herself falling for this most proper duke…while Thomas discovers there’s a great deal of fun in a little bit of wickedness.

Ooh, snatched up the Guillory 🙂

  2. KitBee says:

I’m a big Mhairi McFarlane fan, but that illustrated cover gives the mistaken impression that the book is a lighthearted rom-com. In fact, it’s mostly about grief and about complicated friendship dynamics. A romance does emerge for the protagonist, but it’s definitely not the main focus of the book.

  3. omphale says:

The Importance of Being Wicked is one of my favorite Nevilles, I think because it has a heroine flawed in ways that aren’t just, “Oh she’s just too self-sacrificing!” but rather things like, “She’s bad at money, and is kind of high-school mean to the hero in the way of social groups that form from a sense of ‘outsider’ identity.”

It also has some very funny moments in the sex scenes, if you enjoy that sort of thing 🙂

  4. Star says:

I haven’t read the Neville in a while, but I vaguely remember having a similar reaction to omphale. It’s on my list of things to reread.

Miranda Neville was such a loss to the genre. She is in the same category as Kari Lynn Dell for me: so much talent and just coming into full strength as an author when she died.

  5. Lisa F says:

I need to try out the Neville!

  6. Karin says:

I love that whole Neville quartet. The Importance of Being Wicked is not even my favorite but all of them are definitely worth reading. The heroine is kind of a hot mess and it’s so funny!

  7. flchen1 says:

It looks like books 3 and 4 of the Neville quartet are also on sale for $1.99–Lady Windermere’s Lover and The Duke of Dark Desires…

  8. DeborahT says:

The Importance of Being Wicked is one of my favourite historical romances. I loved both MCs, but especially Caro. Like others have said, she’s truly flawed and absolutely a hot mess, but super charismatic. The author did a brilliant job of show-not-tell.

I liked the series, but this is the one I’ve reread a number of times.

  9. wingednike says:

I listened to the Chemist a while ago. I remember liking it eventually but thinking the tone was uneven and the actions of the characters were not always consistent.
